  1. Disagree with anyone says 'Stand pat and wait until the offseason". You don't need to. Grandal is not going to get better (didn't like that deal and was outspoken when it happened). Lynn is going to be 35 IIRC. Usually, old pitchers don't get better while getting older. You're wasting Abreu's career away. Could've dealt him to the Padres. Can't wait for the "When we get Robert back, we're getting an all star. And Eloy is still coming back to form. And Grandal is about to get hot. And once Giolito gets right, just watch". Hahn misallocated funds from the beginning, as well as assets. Don't want to deal Colson? I get it, but then deal Yoan Moncada.
  2. Honestly don't know why the Sox won't go in at least on some Padre action while they're okay dealing some good prospects. Trade Abreu for a couple of prospects like Acosta. Damn this team is stupid. I imagine Rick Hahn in the war room looking like Michael Scott.
  3. Rick Hahn reminds me of GarPax. "Hey, we gave it an honest try", but in the end, overvaluing his own players, signing second rate stars or acquiring over the hill folks (I didn't like the Lynn deal the day it happened tbh) and you hear more about what they tried, and not about what they actually did. Jerry has a type. And it's sad to see.
  4. I think Kelenic can still be great. I think the Mariners think so too, but I would definitely buy low on him if Seattle doesn't think highly of him.
  5. Soto to the Dodgers for Lux and 4 prospects.
  6. As a fan, I could care less about playoff revenue because it's not going to get the team a better manager, FO, staff, or players. We're going to fall short. Because the White Sox like many sports teams around here half-ass everything. "Let's get some young cheap players and instead of signing or trading for players to take us over the top, we'll get over the top by using hopes and dreams" Everyone poops on Ricketts, but he actually spent when it was time to. He went out and got Lester and Hayward. Meanwhile, the White Sox sign Machado's high school team to try to shave a significant amount of guaranteed money off of his deal.
  7. Forget what I said in the other thread. Don't make a damn move at all. Not with this administration. Jesus Christ...
  8. From an asset perspective, this explains a bit of the gap, but the Sox have done pretty great internationally as well. I keep hearing how weak our system is, but we do have Cespedes, Colas, Colson in the farm and a lot of guys who barely came up. From a monetary perspective, makes no sense how the Padres beat the Sox out financially for Machado other than Jerry being cheap. The Padres essentially did what the White Sox were supposed to do. Spend big while your best guys were cheap. For Waddle and Silvy (who are not even Sox fans) as well as Jesse Rogers to flat out call them out for just being purely cheap, that's pretty awful. You have a 23 year old superstar out there and you're not even going to attempt to make a trade. It's disgusting. Even if you don't plan on saving this season, he's a guy who can help you for the next 10 years at least as well as move some merch. It's saddening to see, because if you're not going to do it for Soto, you're literally not going to do it for anyone. As far as what they should do (aside from actually going after a star), blow it up. I think Grandal could get you a mid level prospect back and you clear some cash. Teams are looking at C including the Padres. Graveman should be gone. Liam, IMO, should be gone. Moncada, I think I would get rid of as well. Giolito could probably still fetch you something (though not as great as last year before stickum was removed). And Abreu, just to let him compete for a ring. Poor guy.
  9. He stated it was in the best interest of his family and business. So it sounds like he had to pick 2 of 3, and this one was easiest to give up.
  10. Hosmer and Myers should be FA soon, shouldn't they? Waddle and Silvy brought up a good point, how the hell are the Padres spending more to get top guys than the White Sox?
  11. At this point, I'm rooting for someone who isn't looking for another Crochet or Sale arm. Noah Shultz? Seen him pitch. He's a guy that's 3 years away from being 4 years away.
  12. The thing with Moncada is, I don't see a high for him on the horizon. I don't think he's in some funk or whatever is happening will cause his stock to rise. I actually view him as a Pollock type player where he will show you some flashes of talent before getting hurt each time. Grandal, my fear always with him, has come to fruition. He's a guy who needs to be platooned at C and his bat used at DH/1B. And he's a guy since he's been with the Dodgers - if the team is hitting, he does great, but he cannot carry an offense whatsoever. With that stated, he's a guy you hope he gets hot, then deal him at the deadline. I think the Sox would be smart to retool instead of rebuild. Fans would riot. Look at how people have turned on the Cubs. It'll be worse for the Sox as the Cubs at least got a title and a few deep runs out of it. The Sox have been bounced first round, each time.
  13. I think you sell off all expensive or older pieces and/or take on some risks with guys like Cody Bellinger/Max Muncy who haven't been great so far this year (within reason of course) if you're doing a retool. If you're doing a rebuild, then obviously, keep trying to get hauls. The important thing for the Sox is that they don't wait too long to continue to evaluate their situation. IMO, you utilize the following players in a trade once you throw up the white flag: Abreu Moncada Pollock Giolito Hendriks Graveman Grandal And I definitely would quietly shop Eloy and Robert just to check in to see what you can get.
  14. Who would've thought that the team peaked with Rick Renteria as manager? Crazy. I miss him ?
  15. I want one. There were so many Yankee fans in attendance, but unfortunately, many of them sold before I got a chance to ask. I'd be willing to pay cash, zelle or whatever for one.
  16. If only they had a shot at Manny Machado... If only they realized they were 2 SP short of being 1 SP short...
  17. Rams are pretty horrific if they can't figure this out.
  18. There will be a new DC as well. Eberflus is underwhelming. Eh.
  19. It's one thing that hasn't been talked about, but is fair. And it seems like the Sox built the team expecting no drop offs. Lynn, I expect to regress as well as Keuchel. I think TA outdoes his projection. Abreu is getting older, however.
  20. Manfred and MLB are the worst. How much time did you have to prepare for this upcoming season, you're a week or two away from when pitchers and catchers are to report and you still have nothing solidified. Disgusting.
  21. What does that even mean? It would be a bad move though.
  22. I would prefer Folty. I think he still has stuff left in the tank.
  23. I think he would be good for the Bears. They need someone who would attack defensively and has that attitude.
