  1. I do think Hinch is a little overrated. Not because of the cheating, but he didn't move the needle in Arizona at all. Also, the more I think of it, I'm surprised there wasn't a bigger penalty to Houston. I just remembered their FO was caught hacking into the Cardinals' system a few years back as well. To me I would've given them a 3 year postseason ban, take some picks.
  2. Look at the threads around here now. Hinch hasn't been away long enough for people to forget, nor does he have anyone vouching for him. His players really F'ed him over tbh. And it doesn't help that many Astros players seemingly had a down year.
  3. Because if he sucks with Detroit (which he will), that's it. He's done for. People will think he's a shitty manager without the cheating, whether right or wrong. Hinch is only going to get one chance at this in terms of rebuilding his reputation. It honestly would be really smart of him to latch onto a HoF manager to give him back some credibility.
  4. I'd honestly be fine with LaRussa. I don't think people give him enough credit for his analytics, but he was one of those guys who was super deep into pitching changes. He'd waste several pitchers on one batter in the inning. I think they'll pair him with Hinch being his understudy to be honest. That'll be to help give Hinch some credibility back, then let him fully take over.
  5. I don't think Springer is that great. Those stars all had some down years seemingly. At least my fantasy team says so. I had both Altuve and Springer.
  6. https://grantland.com/the-triangle/mlb-mike-scoscia-jerry-dipoto-los-angeles-angels-resignation/ Here is one article on it
  7. I don't think you know enough about Scioscia then. There was a really good article about how he and the previous GM (then Seattle's GM) had a power struggle because he refused to look at analytics. He would get them and literally throw them out. The article goes into detail about how he cost his team a playoff run because of it.
  8. I agree. Hell, I think Kopech would be pretty high too. I think you would maybe put Vaughn in, if that. None of the prospects given up were Top 5 in the Padres system. But Clevinger also isn't thatttt great.
  9. From reports on MLBTradeRumors, there were teammates that were so pissed at Clevinger and Plesac that they were going to opt out of the season if they both were brought back. So it seems like the whole organization was pissed at them. With that stated, they both are studs. Cleveland knows how to develop pitching. For the Padres, one point that was brought up is they changed out both of their catchers including the best framer in the majors. This doesn't bode well for their SP if you ask me. I wonder if Castro is the primary catcher.
  10. Padres are going all in. Cleve is not a bad move. Ty France had no position in the trade to Seattle, so it's not bad. WOW.
  11. I'm in agreement. I don't want to trade either, but for someone like Clevinger, I would live with trading Dunning (since I think he's further away). If I traded both, it would have to be for a DeGrom type pitcher.
  12. This is interesting as he has a son that is half black. Like, he of all people should be aware enough and protective of his child.
  13. Honestly seems like the perfect type of deal as he's cheap this year and hopefully there would be some fans in the stadium for next year to help pay his salary. With that stated, as much as I despise Nomar (I hated the move the moment it was made), I think getting at least one other SP here is the biggest issue. Without one, they're going to burn out their bullpen. Once they get a SP, there are options (maybe not as good as Marte) like Joc Pederson, kicking the tires on Puig, etc.
  14. It will never happen. Both fanbases would be upset as it means at least one of Dunning/Kopech is assuredly gone and the Indians are only a game apart. With that stated, I would try to get Plesac included as well (clearly they both enjoy Chicago) since we honestly need two starters. Now the Indians might be doing this trade in part, because they are trying to open a spot for Plesac.
  15. I knew the Astros players would fall back to earth, but jesus christ - Jose Altuve is utter garbage this year. George Springer has worse numbers (but still a contributor) and Carlos Correa looks overrated. ?
  16. He's the best player in baseball and we gave him away for James Shields. UGH
  17. I think it's crazy that we're advocating for so easily giving away players like Kopech who has such a live arm. I want to see what he looks like as he has legit ace potential. Dunning, same deal. In the right deal, no one's untouchable, but Lance Lynn, Dylan Bundy and those types don't do much for me.
  18. Correct. Unless a DeGrom, Cole type pitcher becomes available, I don't see it being worth it. And I want a chip more than most.
  19. Ok, I walk back what I said. If Yelich is in there, I would do that trade With that stated, I don't see the Sox taking on all of that money.
  20. I would not trade Kopech at all. He has top tier pitcher stuff. Bundy would be really interesting, especially with Cooper.
  21. Hayes is definitely nice. I think this draft has a bunch of nice players, but no one worth trading the farm for. I think LaMelo has the highest ceiling and guys like him are magnets for other stars if they pan out.
  22. Deni is like a Toni Kukoc/Hedo Turkoglu like player. Horrible FT shooter though. If you're expecting Luka, you're going to be sorely disappointed just like when people thought Mirotic would be Dirk. Ball is super creative offensively. He's definitely better than his brother. He does need to be coached up however. His "bad" shooting has more to do with shot selection than actually being a bad shooter. I don't think AK would mind his dad, he just would shut him up, similar to how the Pelicans have kept LaVar quiet. Bulls absolutely should not trade LaVine for anyone in this draft. If LaVine was back at UCLA, he would be the #1 pick in this draft. I would be okay if you trade any other pieces to get GSW's pick, but chances are, they wouldn't do it unless it was multiple pieces - such as Lauri & Wendell. Which again, to me, would not be worth it (not both).
  23. Mazara should've never been given a chance. EE yes, but father time catches up with everyone. I really wish they would've made the Joc trade. With that stated, I think you play Engel and mix in Grandal more at 1B/DH so McCann can play as well.
  24. I agree. This team is having fun. It is the exact environment that Puig would thrive in. As your 6th hitter, you could do a lot worse.
  25. I would keep him to be honest. Grandal is the type of guy who needs to DH and play 1B (been this way since he's been with the Dodgers). Let go of the Nomar and EE projects.
