  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 04:04 AM) Interesting how low AJ is on that list. Was he not a top 3 catcher in the AL behind Mauer and V-Mart? Have not looked up other catchers numbers, but from memory I can assume a top 5 in the AL at worst. His average is tops for catchers but his other stats are not spectacular. His Runs, HRs and RBIs are practically half of what Mauer and V-mart put up. That kinda says something. I'll take Suzuki, Wieters and possibly Posada and Napoli over him in AL League only drafts.
  2. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 11:33 PM) I've never seen Titanic. Does that count? It wasn't a great storyline, I thought it was a bore imo.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) no not upset...i just think its funny that u of I students think this is some monumental upset....for me personally...i think of illinois as a program that every year should be in contention for the big 10 championship...therefore, every year they should at least be competetitive against MSU at home, and should reasonably win that game every 2 or 3 years... illinois is a boderline top 25 team right now IMO...if you are borderline top 25 team you don't rush the court unless you just beat a dominant college basketball team that is ranked #1...not a team that is ranked 5th, and likely to fall out of the top ten coming off an 18 point loss, and is also lacking their best player if you hand MSU their first loss, ok maybe....i just think it was weak last night Illinois is nowhere close to a top 25 team at the moment. Your talking about a team who is 0-5 on a neutral court and has really one marquee victory over a Michigan St. team without Lucas. I suppose Clemson was a decent win too but they have looked awful since the beginning of the season. And yes, the Illini fans should not have rushed the court vs. the Spartans. I can understand Northwestern doing it vs. Purdue because they have not beaten a ranked team in a while but you would think the Illini fans would be a little more knowledgeable and realize they just beat a team without Lucas at home in one of the toughest arenas to play in. Right now the Illini would probably be in the tourney but you never know what surprises are in store in conference tourney play, teams like Georgia and Maryland appeared out of nowhere in the past to make the tourney and this ruined some of the bubble teams chances in the past. The smaller conferences also play a big part too if there are upsets. I feel the Pac-10 might get two bids if Cal doesn't win and that eliminates another tourney spot. Regardless, Illlinois needs to win a game or two more in their remaining games, which is easier said then done when looking at who they still play, Wisconsin, Purdue, Ohio St, and even Michigan and Minnesota are tough.
  4. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) That was one of the better halftime shows in recent memory. Daltrey definitely didn't sound too into it, though. And The Who does not suck. The Who put on a good show, I have not heard a lot of their stuff but they sounded good and the crowd seemed to be into it. One of the better shows in recent memory.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) CarMax wins with their Dramatic commercials. Those were dumb imo. I thought Doritos came up with some good ones, the shock collar lol. Bud Light didn't impress me one bit, they usually have the best ones, big surprise there for me. Great win for the Saints and their city.
  6. Hate the Colts therefore rooting for the Saints. But I see the Colts winning if Freeney plays.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) This has to be the most depressing thread ever. Besides the stupid Jayhawks, nobody's team seems to be doing well this season. I am pleased with how Purdue has done so far this season. Games have all been a little too close for my liking though and with Lucas injured for Michigan State I see no reason as to why Purdue's odds don't improve to win the Big Ten. DePaul on the other hand
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 09:53 AM) I really don't know what to expect in these games. So far Illinois has played a good amount of "top" teams, and have played well for 25-30 minutes, but haven't been able to finish. MSU they had the lead at half, but got knocked out pretty early in the 2nd. Against Purdue it was the same story (though they should have won that game). It's not a matter of talent, it's a matter of desire. Here's to hoping the coaches can get it in their heads that this stretch is their season, and if they win 3-4 of those games, they can get where they want to go. My prediction for the remainder of the year: MSU - win (momentum win) @WIS - loss (no chance) OSU - win (desperate, must have win) @PUR - loss (Weber owns Painter, but this'll be a tough game) @MU - loss (or win - this seems like a good trap game that they won't take seriously since Michigan has a bad record) MINN - win (or loss - seems like another trap game...they'll win one of these games and lose the other) @OSU - loss (no chance) WIS - win (another desperate, must have win) I think that gets them in the tourney, even with a loss in the first round of the BTT. Hmmm, in the Weber vs Painter era, here are the results of each matchup, not including Purdue recently beating the Illini. Date Site Winner Score 1/28/06 Champaign Illinois 76-58 1/27/07 West Lafayette Purdue 64-47 1/19/08 West Lafayette Purdue 74-67 2/2/08 Champaign Purdue 83-75 3/14/08 Indianapolis Illinois 74-67 (OT) 12/30/08 West Lafayette Illinois 71-67 (OT) Purdue has the lead 4-3. So, how again is that owning?

    QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 01:13 PM) Kate Beckinsale returning to the Underworld universe for the 4th movie. Skintight Leather FTW!! 3rd movie ruined it with all the plot holes. Finally saw Hurt Locker last night and really enjoyed it. Very interesting take on the war and suspenseful movie.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) Nazareth Hanover Park
  11. iPad is a giant waste of money, no offense to those of you whom already purchased one. It is basically a giant iPhone. I don't see the point of buying it when I can be more efficient and do the same type of work and better with a notebook or PC, heck I could get either for less money. It is a cool product and I'm sure Apple will sell it well but I'm really overwhelmed and was expecting more.
  12. A lot of bargains from what I see. Peavy that late is a steal, wouldn't mind getting Pierre at that point too.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 08:56 AM) Slickpoo Oswego
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) All the talk about Pac-10 only getting one bid is well deserved, some of the results in the conference are f***ed. Washington beat Seattle (1st season in Division 1) by 47. Seattle won at Oregon State by 51. Oregon St. won at Oregon, who won at Washington. Washington has been a disappointment, I felt they were going to be a good team come March and sleeper. Can't win on the road though. Winner of that conference is in, rest are basically screwed besides maybe Cal, but they still need to win more games. On the other hand, good win for Purdue yesterday!
  15. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 09:07 AM) <!--quoteo(post=2075554:date=Jan 25, 2010 -> 07:43 AM:name=KyYlE23)-->QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 07:43 AM) <!--quotec--><!--quoteo(post=2074943:date=Jan 23, 2010 -> 04:55 PM:name=Brian)-->QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) <!--quotec-->Any sound clips of Stacey King going off after that Rose dunk? That is epic. The bench's reaction was awesome! Nocioni's dunk over Songalia was better. It is not like Rose hurdled him or anything, the dunk was a gimme and then the Suns player got in the way slightly.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 08:02 AM) This has to be the worry for the Saints. I haven't seen the guy who dismantled the Pats since that game, IIRC. Wondering if he's hurting somewhere. Even if he is hurt, he has a whole two weeks to get some rest and get ready. I would have to imagine a lot of players from the Saints and Colts will be skipping the Pro Bowl now.
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) God, Brett Favre has that special talent for screwing up at the worst possible moments. They really had no business passing that late in the game in scoring position, I mean your kicker is Longwell, he has been great all year. Not that I care, hate the Vikings but I still love Favre and a part of me wanted him to win another Super Bowl, I bet he comes back next year though.
  18. Well hopefully the Super Bowl is a good close game with the Saints winning, Manning will probably shred that defense though. I still stand by that the Colts are not that good of a team
  19. Terrible PI call. Didn't look like Leber touched him. Vikes throwing this game away, should've won it prior to OT, too many turnovers.
  20. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) If the colts beat the Jets, going to be one hell of a superbowl Peyton vs. Farve Peyton vs. Drew Wow! Really? I think it is going to be a blowout in the Super Bowl, I don't feel the Colts can match up with either of them. Still don't feel they are that good. But I liked the Jets to win today's game and Vikings as well. I hate both the Jets and Colts as well as the Vikings so hopefully the Saints win it all. I don't think I can stomach Favre winning a Super Bowl in a Vikings uni. NFC wins regardless imo.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) The fact we couldn't match 5.5 million in an offer for Nick Johnson pisses me off even more than we're wasting money on Mark Kotsay. Kotsay should have never been signed. He should not get any playing time except for pinch hitting duties. I'll be pissed even more if we sign Thome for around 5 million.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 11:28 AM) Tejada back to Baltimore. Thought Crede would land there. Liked that move. Orioles just need some pitching and they are a solid team imo. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/01/reds...eague-deal.html Wish we would have gotten Arredondo, Tommy John or not he has talent.
  23. Reds signed Jose Arredondo to a minor league deal. How was this guy not picked up faster? Loads of talent, wish we would've gotten him especially for that price. Nice to see Tejada back with the O's.
  24. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 08:19 AM) Appreciate the input According to : http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...MLB&id=5435 Beckham didn't start any games last year at Short, so he shouldn't have eligibility there this year in most setups. Yup, I've been reading a bit about him - could be the ultimate one. Everybody is focused on Andrus, Alcides, Everth Cab. while aybar could be the one that makes the biggest splash. Hmm, for some reason I remember him having SS eligibility last year. I'm not too sure how Yahoo or ESPN determines players eligibility at a position for the next season, but I hope Gordon retains his SS eligibility otherwise I'm not really interested in him, unless of course he does play 2B then I would nab him and wait it out. SS is deep this year imo, I'd be happy with a number of the lower tier shortstops like Andrus, Alcides, Everth and Aybar. Seems like a great spot this year to add some steals to your roster.
