QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 08:55 AM) If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. I understand. Just means were one step closer to counting on Pena or Linebring to be a pivotal piece of the bullpen. That won't work.
-
Not unexpected, but every day feels like a bucket of reality hitting me that we are going to really suck next year.
-
Pena was awful as a starter at the end of the year. I can't stand that guy. I'd rather have Carlos f***ing Torres out there and he might be the worst pitcher in history.
-
I find it hard to believe that he thinks Peavy is going to be out past June, but he's willing to give away one of our starters.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 14, 2010 -> 01:21 PM) I'd offer Bobby a 1/$1.5 contract. I'd be willing to negotiate a little. If he doesn't want to accept that, I move on without him. There is no way in the world he'd accept that.

Yeah Uribe!

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) How will they find a uni small enough? LOL, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought "Total Recall" when I read the thread title.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 02:49 AM) It's pretty f***ing useless. "Hudson is doing well in the NL with no pressure." But of course let's ignore the fact that Jackson failed miserably in the same environment. What does it matter what Jackson did in Arizona? So he doesn't play well for teams that are awful and under no pressure. Jackson pitched well here, in pressure, in the AL. Hudson, in a small sample size, did not. But please do not presume to tell all of us that pitching in the NL, under ZERO pressure, is like pitching on a winning team in the AL that is going for the playoffs. It is not. Lots of players do well in September when nothing is on the line.
-
Whoever is playing the Twins, and then whoever is playing the Yankees. I'll root for the Yanks in the first series though.
-
How many games will this team win in 2010?
jphat007 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd definitely have taken 88 wins if you offered before the season. -
If the Twins win 94-95 games again next year it is going to be tough for us to catch up with that, no matter what we do in the offseason. We might end up with 87-88 wins this yearand if you would've told me that at the beginning of this year I would've taken it in a heartbeat. The Twins were just too good. It'll be interesting to see what they do in the offseason, as well as us obviously.
-
f*** the Twins. And f*** Danny Valencia. I look forward to him hitting .200 next year.

Ridiculously long, good Posnanski article on KW.

QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) Yeah, they at lest put runs on the board. Hell yeah brother! I mean, we did score 80 more runs than they did this year, but we can just ignore those facts. Woo! -
They have a bunch of kids that come up and put up mind boggling numbers for 3/4 of a year and then fade into obscurity. It's really amazing. Valencia this year, Casilla another year, Trevor Plouffe, Lew Ford, etc etc
-
After this series we have the road/home advantage the rest of the way.
-
Holy s*** there are some angry people in this thread. haha

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) Ozzie's determined to take Kenny down with him. neither of them are going anywhere.
-
It's scary to think about what our offense could look like next year. I hope KW is ready to wheel and deal this offseason.
-
I look forward to Valencia hitting .200 at the start of next year and seeing another, unknown hitter come up and hit .350 for half the season.
-
Tony Pena is so awful. I can't stand him. Other than coming in as a long reliever in a couple of starts he is worthless.

Sox @ Twins SLUMPBUSTER SPECIAL THREAD 9/18
jphat007 replied to Steve9347's topic in 2010 Season in Review
Well, our pitching sure has been s*** this series. -
QUOTE (Wedge @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) The b**** of it is, if we had kept Thome, we probably woulda been screwed too. I don't know how, but I'm sure we would have. Haha. That's how I feel. It's a trap.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) However, Edwin Jackson struggled mightily under that same situation. All the excuses that were made for why Jackson was so bad (Arizona air, bad Arizona defense) count too. That's fine. I'm just saying you can't say, "hey look at Hudson, he'd be awesome to have in our rotation now." Because the situations are so different.
-
YOu just can't compare numbers. Pitching in that division vs pitching in the AL, especially when there is absolutely NO pressure on Hudson like there was in his starts here. He can just let it all go and go out and pitch with Arizona because they aren't going to be in anything anytime soon. So it's a really nice situation for him.
