  1. Teams are also more willing to trade pitching prospects and that's probably why we got higher rated pitching for less "valuable" trade pieces.
  2. I think my life has taught me that winning a division is hard and I don't think they win the division in 2021 without Lynn/Grandal (the most maligned players). Our big run happened in the first half due to a pitching heater that Lynn was a big part of. We were .500 in the second half. No guarantee the guardians sell in that alternate universe.
  3. In 2021 the sox were ready to compete and 2021 showed us how hard it is to rely on a rotation where you are developing all of them and increasing workloads. This trade was fine. We aren't a bad team now because we traded for Lance Lynn. I mean...we didn't "lose" the Mazara trade because of what we gave up, but that trade was so much worse as they fucked around with a year that could have been a lot more fun.
  4. That stadium is so nice and it seems like Bham is one of the bigger operations so I don't get why their camera is so much worse than W-S.
  5. meh, we needed big year rather than smoothed average years. Would still make trade. problem is being stuck and unable to adjust yearly due to inability to sustain a farm or be smarter than an average bear.
  6. I mean I feel like he's just a pitching prospect. His ranking was always more based on potential due to stuff, and then he couldn't locate it without diminishing it. I think with Katz, you should load him up with more stuff first guys, as he's shown an ability to get their strikeout rates high enough to make the BBs tolerable.
  7. My favorite trade was Burgers, but we acquired a lot of pitchers and boy do those not hold up well on "top" lists. This org needed em though, we essentially got zero worth a s%*# from 2015-2020.
  8. (that said I don't like using fWAR for bullpen)
  9. Hahn hoping to recreate the 2015 white sox.
  10. Actually Palka is the perfect example of how incremental progress in certain areas, where you may not even make them PLUS just less below average, can turn a player from ok to good. But first - Palka could not recreate 2018 at all in 2019, because suddenly he couldn't hit fastballs. Burger has hit the s%*# out of them consistently. Big difference between Palka and Burger is Palka in 2018 could hurt fastballs and was fine with offspeed but could not handle anything breaking. Burger is fine with breaking pitches and Fastballs, but because he is hunting for fastballs and swings a lot, he's clearly destroyed by not being able to pick up when a change-up is coming. Palka is a much easier profile there...just throw him breaking stuff. palka had much worse xBAs than Burger does, largely because of Burgers pull tendencies in a shiftless game. He hits it hard as hell to players closer to him, so even grounders fare better than palka. But basically - with some better approach where he prepares for offspeed better, gets more selective, and can move from 33rd percentile to 40%, you end up with a really strong offensive profile even if he hits for low average. And...Gavin Sheets? This is Gavin Sheets This is Jake Burger They aren't remotely the same player. We also need to get used to players maturing later due to COVID. Jake Burger lost 3 years to achilles, and then another 2 months in 2021 to COVID restrictions in the minors. He can absolutely improve at the margins of walk rate and chase rate.
  11. Great night for Schweitzer

What a fabulous tweet by Bob
  13. People are too harsh on this on both sides. Jake could hit the ball harder than pretty much every other player in baseball. And in the air. If he can make incremental progress on walks he can greatly increase his value. For that, the Sox got a really great pitching prospect. This board loves comps that exclusively live in the white Sox world…and I can see this being a Brandon McCarthy for Johnny Danks swap.
  14. The good is now we have quite a few major league plausible pitchers in AA and, prior to the season, we knew Mena would be there who still has quite a bit of physical and pitching development left. Sean Burke disappeared and has barely played, but he has enough talent to maybe make it by 2025. The bad is I feel like Kory Lee is gonna be like a Casey Gillaspie trade, where we were like "He's ranked fourth! Recent first rounder!" and realize the souring on him is for real. BA sending him to 29 in a midseason update is like...insane. That system sucks and they were like "this guy is so bad I'll take 29 guys over him". Hahn though is a sucker for ranking sites to judge trades. While people say we can't develop guys with command issues...I would say Katz has actually gotten more out of them than I'd expect. Cease being the best example. If you have a bad defense, probably just want to reduce hits and induce Ks. But, problem is when the hits come, there are guys on base. Anyway, god are we really going to keep this front office. God. But at least please wipe away this pitching development group.
  15. Anxiously awaiting Rikuu Nishida for some reason
  16. Sosa homer, Ramos double
  17. Leasure debuts in AAA and gets smoked.
  18. Because he tried to throw out players instead of hitting the cut off man leading to dozens of extra bases taken against us
  19. Not much on his stuff but definitely improves after acclimating. Striking out a ton this year.
  20. He was acquired for cash and our AAA starting pitchers have neither stuff nor control so this is fine.
