Tim Anderson
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) Tim Anderson will come around just fine. People need to have some heart. We are dealing with human beings here. Pretty sure he has a home in Charlotte. I don't see why giving him some time away from major league failure night in and out is heartless. Why isn't it heartless forcing him to play instead of letting him sit or take a paid leave?

Tim Anderson
After his play this week I think he should be sent down for some time. The not hustling, the no approach at bats, the baserunning and failure to cover on defense. Get him out of spotlight and time to clear his head and recalibrate. Phantom DL trip maybe.

2017-18 official NBA discussion thread
Surprising players available for trade is one reason why bulls should manage assets better.

Why did we pass on Lewis again?
Yeah. One thing we'll have to watch, seems like Rutherford and Collins were our two top rated bats in 16, both running into struggles in year 2. Other bats cruising still.
-
Do our players need to choke up on the bat more?
Lots do it, including Moncada and Yolmer. Votto too. Not really a big deal.

7-21 Games
Of course he could. He just needs to play games in DR.

7-21 Games
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 08:12 PM) Who the f*** is Winston Salem's manager? They just pulled Jimenez with the bases loaded for Booker. Jimenez was pulled because he fouled off a pitch on his foot. Calm down.

Mark Lowe and Machi Traded to The White Sox
This could easily be for Charlotte guys.

7-21 Games
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 05:54 PM) Anyone else concerned about Robert ? He's been out longer than expected and hasn't played since he came back with 1 AB and then was pulled. He wasn't pulled. That was a k from a suspended game weeks earlier.

Trade Idea: Giancarlo Stanton
Not undervaluing Stanton. You are proposing a fair trade if Stanton was paid little. He's paid a gigantic amount and is injury prone. You are not valuing his contract at all.

When is rock bottom of the rebuild: 2017 or 2018?
The worst will be when players struggle. But last night I had a lot of fun following our minor league teams. I expect I'll have some fun with that next year too. I'm prepared for what's to come, but yeah, sometimes you still just want to watch a good game where your team comes out ahead. And that may be some time.

What would it take - Machado/Harper
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) Machado will only by going into his age 27 year in 2019. Right but the contract being discussed is like 10 years 300 million. I mean, if he wanted to double dip and do a heyward esque 10 year 300 million with the first 4 years earning him $40 million with an opt-out, then I'd be happy. But Giancarlo Stanton is still pretty good and it's already an issue. I just don't know

What is Blake Rutherford's upside?
Eaton had plus speed though.

What would it take - Machado/Harper
I really wanted to dream big with Machado, but I honestly can't imagine having so much money tied to a single player. Whomever pans out from this rebuild we'll probably be pretty attached to and it would be pretty rough to trade/let those players go so that we can have a 30+ year old machado. But that is long ways hypothetical.

What would it take - Machado/Harper
QUOTE (pablo @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 09:01 AM) I have been thinking the same as well, especially in relation to Machado/Harper and the FA's of 2019. Would it make sense for the Sox to grab one of the decent FA veterans this offseason? Looking at the list, it really boils down to one of Hosmer (27), Moustakas (28) and JD Martinez (29). My thinking would be: Do Harper and Machado or whomever else really want to come to a team in 2019 that is coming off 90-100 losses as we assume the Sox will do next year? Next year could be epic-ly bad for the Sox - besides Abreu, Moncada and TA, the rest could get ugly with growing pains for Lopez, Giolito, etc. If Moncada has a great year and TA improves, it could be enough to lure a big name FA or two to come to the Sox in 2019. But I feel like both of those happening is best case scenario and not likely to happen. I believe the year Lester came to the Cubs, the Cubs were coming off a bad year with Renteria, but they showed a little promise at least. Then with Maddon joining and the Cubs "curse" thing, Lester bought in and signed with them. Essentially, I picture one of the big name FA's saying "Alrite, I can see myself playing with Hosmer and Abreu plus the kids for the next few years" rather than "Abreu and the kids". I think it would have to be a situation similar to Encarnacion or Trumbo where the contract comes down to a reasonable price and so it makes sense for the Sox. I'd imagine Hosmer would be a great recruiter - seems like a likable guy. Realistically, Moose might make the most sense since we don't have a 3B waiting in the wings until the latter half of 2019 and we might have an 1B/OF/DH jam coming soon. Might be dumb, but something to throw out and discuss and see what you all thought. Those guys require long term deals. I'm fine taking some good vets on a more expensive 1-yar deal, but I want financial flexibility for when we actually know what our needs are.

What is Blake Rutherford's upside?
Me too. I'd like to see him get up to .440-.450 slugging by end of year, but will feel okay if he just keeps his k:bb ratio and k% where it is.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 07:22 AM) Anderson... I'm really not considering ML pieces at all, and even if Anderson was Francisco Lindor, it's still a position you want talent in because a good SS can be anything.
