  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 08:02 AM) TOR? Blue Jays pitcher? Top of Rotation. I'm with you, everytime I see it I think Toronto, but all of the kids were using it.
  2. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 07:07 AM) No doubt there's 29 teams that would love to have Q but as you said, how many have the talent and willingness to part with the talent? Seattle could be the dark horse. They have the prospects but do they feel they can compete with the Rangers and Astros in '17 to justify giving up a haul for Q? Then again, the moves already made by the Texas teams may force Seattle to get in on the bidding to at least look like they are trying to compete in '17. Good call on Seattle. Hadn't given them much thought. Would love to grab Vogelbach out of Seattle. They have a pretty damn good infield no with Segura, Seager and Cano. And they have pushed the let's do it button several times to compete with Felix
  3. Listen, I will gladly have some billionaire spend hundreds of millions so that I can watch Manny Machados age 25-32 seasons.
  4. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 06:49 AM) With the Braves signining two geriatric's to one year deals and trading for Garcia who has one year left, the Braves are buying time for their young pitchers to become MLB ready. Those signings and trade are not indicative of a team that's expected to compete. Just a guess but I think the Braves were pushing the cost up on their division rival, the Nat's. Are the Pirates the kind of team that would give up a haul to acquire Q? I could be wrong but I highly doubt it. The Rangers have already they won't give up the talent that they gave up to get Hamels. Hence the Cashner signing. I could see the Rangers showing interest in an effort to drive up the price on the Astros. Yep, there was a rumor a few days ago that Hahn was getting more calls about Q than Sale. That could have changed when teams heard Hahn's asking price for Q. In the end, someone will bite and make the trade happen. Imho, it comes down to the Astros, Yanks and Rockies. Also let's not be naive, I'm sure a lot of teams want Q at their own price. But at the price Hahn has set only a few teams have pieces and team set up to try: Yanks Astros Dodgers (unlikely) Rangers Rockies Braves (unlikely) There are some other teams like PIT or Seattle I think could pull it off and it make sense for their team. But they have not been rumored at all.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 01:16 AM) It also makes the Yankees need an arm like Q even more. He raises both of their needs for Q and can get them to bid. Speak of the devil http://nypost.com/2016/12/08/yankees-spent...ng-they-needed/ NY Post writer lamenting spending 100 million and not getting a TOR pitcher
  6. Man it got boring real quick. Need moar
  7. Good move by cardinals. Always amazed how their teams are so much better than the sum of their parts look.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) The sad fact is that there is so much insider trading done in the house and senate, except then they call it things like "lobbying". That's true but they are acting on regulation knowledge and other info they should not act on, a president can move markets himself. If his family/associates know what companies he's going to threaten with tweets they could make a fortune. See Boeing. Either way you could tackle both.
  9. Good for Fowler. Love when players bet on themselves and win.
  10. Meh, I have us signing Machado until some other team does
  11. It was easy for me to imagine Q, Eatons and Sales offers, but the Robertson /Jones traded are where our scouts will make their money
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 07:39 PM) I have difficulty imagining Jose Abreu as a major positive contributor in 2019 after his previous 3 years and that's the first year where I'd really be looking at Moncada as hopefully being unstoppable, so I mentally counted him as a guy needing replaced by then, or at least not as a major strength. I know we've been burned like crazy but still feel most comfortable leaving 1b power hitter as the position we find in FA
  13. SEC needs to monitor Trump family positions on any company he comments on that moves the market.
  14. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) Question for the board. What if Houston caved in and said they would trade Bregman but the trade would be Bregman for Q straight up. Would ya do it? Yes. I think that is fair.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 01:42 PM) Yes, that's likely where the confusion happened. My bad, I was caught in between discussions. Makes a lot more sense about Collins anyway.
  16. It's hard to know Houston's public motivations vs. private ones. I feel like they are a smart enough front office to know Quintanas value. But in baseballosphere, seems like opinion is they have too many soft tossers and Quintana would not add a different arsenal to the mix.
  17. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Is it possible some are undervaluing Robertson? Sure, but you are seriously overvaluing him. It's possible he could bring back a top 100 prospect, but that prospect is not going to be Victor Robles. MLB Pipeline has him as the 10th best prospect in baseball. And you think Robertson will bring back him and then some? Not a chance in hell. Notable about Chapman, could only bring back an at least 2 years from big leagues top 30 prospect, not a top 10 one.
  18. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Can we get a thread name change here? It's become a little misleading with multiple teams kicking the tires on Robertson now. Yes but I wasn't happy about it.
  19. I think one thing we as white sox fans had a hard time valuing was that Moncada wasn't just a #1 prospect in baseball but a very highly touted one. He wasn't someone you could just plug in a formula of "we need 3 top 30 prospects". Teams that have a Moncada don't trade them, just like teams that have Sale at that point in the contract don't trade them.
  20. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) The #Nats tried to get the #WhiteSox to include closer David Robertson in the Adam Eaton trade, but Sox refused, will deal separately. https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/806942192245698560 Yeah I think multiple major leaguers in a firesale can dilute each's market. I would save that tactic for acquiring a more talented prospect, but it is not going to increase volume of spects.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Is Pena supposed to be an elite defensive catcher? Yes he's supposed to be 60 defense 65 throwing. Astros were very high on defense.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) Yah, I think this trade looks SOOO much better with ERod or Groome added on as the 3rd piece, Basabe the 4th, and Diaz the 5th. BUt oh well. Can't complain about the 1st two pieces. I doubt the conversation went: We want devers No Okay well we'll take Basabe and your 30th ranked prospect then
  23. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) Young players who have fell out favor, lost value, no where to play to target. Dalton Pompey Kevin Plawecki Brandon Workman Hanser Alberto Jeimer Candelario Cory Spangenberg Jesse Winker I would like to inquire about Plawecki with Mets. I assume they could like relief help.
  24. I thought this was very interesting:

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) If he can become good at framing and gamecalling, even if everything else about his defense is average, and his bat plays the way it projects according to scouts, he'll be one of the top Catchers in baseball. This probably answers my question as I was not aware he had a projectable bat.
