  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) On a side note, per my review of Twitter, Mets fans have surpassed Cardinal fans as the most prolific purveyors giving up aging spare parts for in their prime major league players. Who could say no to Jay Bruce and Granderson for Eaton and Robertson? Yeah I feel bad for them though. Tough spot. They are gonna be crushed when it's Conforto who gets traded for a relief pitcher.
  2. Guys I know it's poor form to talk about a high draft pick that made majors early and performed pretty well but I would totally take Turner over him knowing what we know now. But not sad about Rodon.
  3. Guys, this may change our rebuild plan
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) The kid hit .342 with power and speed in 100 games. Of course his value is inflated now. If he sustains those numbers he should have gone #1. I wouldn't bet on that, although I still think he will be a great player. Rodon looks like he will be a top of the rotation guy. A solid pick at #3. Yeah Rodon is fine, he's in the majors! But as a white sox fan who've watched garbage position players it hurts to see players like Turner selected behind you. Helps to see players like Alex Jackson though.
  5. QUOTE (bjm676 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 33s33 seconds ago Sources: #Nationals more focused on Sale than Cutch. #WhiteSox likely would get Robles, Giolito, much more. No indication deal is close. Just want to say that deal pieces leaking out is v. good news to me. Way too much who is not involved. You don't bid over who is not involved, you bid over who IS. Love hot stove talk.
  6. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) The guy drafted #4 right after Rodon is pretty good too. Should probably wait a few more years to make judgments about that draft class.... 2014/2015 drafts look like we are about to enter a decade of very awesome baseball.
  7. QUOTE (shakes @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:48 PM) And the Sox have other trade chips that will crossover in discussions. I mean, there could be teams who would move on to Q, Eaton, or even Rodon. The Sox have a ton of due diligence to do if they are exploring a complete rebuild. I would be very curious to know what Q's market looks like. Have barely heard a word about it. Doesn't appear W. Sox are in Trade Q mode.
  8. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"> Nice to see Angels trying to get better. Just sucks that our modern Mickey Mantle is in a garbage pile.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) Is there a set time in which the Sox and Nats are sitting down for a meeting to discuss Sale? The only real recent news is Heyman saying Nats were meeting this afternoon to discuss. So , it's like 4pm in MD now so I unno.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) Personally I hope this is the case. Maybe if Houston or Boston see this talk the give in and include their star prospect to move ahead of Washington? Who knows. We do know that the Sox have worked well with both Houston and Dombrowski in the past. Yeah, one thing I'm keeping in mind is all of Boston/Houston/Washington have huge incentive to leak to media that their untouchable is not available, they don't want to be in that bidding war when the Sox call and say "HOU just offered Bregman, do you want an opportunity to top it?"
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) I believe he said it on MLBN a little while ago Ah, thanks.
  12. FWIW last Joel Sherman comment on Sale:
  13. I follow Sherman and I don't really recall him ever saying that. Yesterday he said sox don't perceive Boston/LA as major players for sale but Washington was trying but holding back on Turner. Nothing recent has been communicated from him re: Sale.
  14. I'm pretty sure If I'm Rizzo I take the risk of an outfield with Trout and Bryce Harper in it.
  15. Eh, I eat lunch places more than any other restaurant (because I'm lazy). I have always really loved Freshii and people think it's gross, so I hear ya.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) Always has been.. Have you been to the newer Panera's yet? Theyve come a long way. Food is fresher and healthier and you can order quickly The only panera is so far from my office, and I have a stupid corner bakery right on the corner that seduces me when I just want soup. And boy is their soup garbage.
  17. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) Rizzo "Give me Adam" is way beyond a throw in to help offset a deal haha, it's a completely different trade negotiation. Eaton is under contract for what amounts to pennies: 2017 28 Chicago White Sox $4,000,000 4.030 2018 29 Chicago White Sox $6,000,000 2019 30 Chicago White Sox $8,400,000 2020 31 Chicago White Sox *$9,500,000 $9.5M Team Option, $1.5M Buyout 2021 32 Chicago White Sox *$10,500,000 $10.5M Team Option, $1.5M Buyout Earliest Free Agent: 2020 He is in his prime as well. Eaton would like require Giolito and Robles (I've read internally the Nationals consider Lopez to have surpassed Giolito in the pecking order) Right, and Turner is a near superstar level player that your best pitcher in AL on cost friendly deal couldn't land.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) I think it goes a little something like this: Hahn - "Mike, you can offer Giolito and Robles all day long, but I've got to have Turner." Rizzo - "If I'm giving up Turner, I can't give you Giolito OR Robles...and I'm not even sure I can get a sign off on Turner, to be honest." Hahn - "You know our suite #, Mike." Rizzo - "Rick, you've got to help me offset Turner if I'm going to move him..." Hahn - "What about Melky?" Rizzo - "Come on Rick. I need someone who will be here for at least a couple years. Give me Adam." Hahn - Eaton is not off the table, but then I'm going to need Turner and your top 3-4 guys, Mike." I agree with this. but the white sox would be choosing to get a single high impact player over using Eaton to build depth. Some may oppose that and i understand why, but acquiring Turner, Giolito, Robles, and more is worth it. You can still try your damndest to turn around your scouting in next two years and trade some excess chaff for davidson level gambles.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 01:36 PM) With the strides Anderson has made every year at short, I wouldn't even think about about moving him around. I wouldn't normally, but I'd do whatever trea turner wants honestly.
  20. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) We've discussed this regarding Bregman, if we were able to pry Turner from DC, does he play CF for us? 2B? SS? If that is our problem that is the best white sox problem I've seen in a while. I think keep him in CF or move anderson.
  21. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) I was just posturing what it would take for a team to acquire both Sale and Eaton HUGE doubts that any team would be able to stomach the return it would take Yes it's doubtful. Discussed earlier how I thought Eaton could justify Giolito Robles themselves. However, I will say it depends on how much your scouts think of turner. If this truly is an opportunity to get a talent like that unlikely to be matched, maybe you do spend more.
  22. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) oh, unsupported speculation I just read: That would be amazing.
  23. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) Sale AND Eaton would require an absolutely enormous package going back to the White Sox It's pretty insane to think about, but you're talking about 11 WAR per season being dealt It would absolutely have to start with Turner, followed closely by Giolito, Robles, Ross, Lopez, Fedde, Kieboom I'm not even certain that is enough for two all star players under cheap control Sale would return: Turner, Ross, Robles, Kieboom + Sale would return: Turner, Ross, Robles, Kieboom + Eaton would return: Giolito, Lopez, Fedde + I don't think there is a team in baseball with the farm system to trade for both Eaton and Sale. It would more than gut any system, any team would be setting their minor league depth back 5 years Pretty clear this isn't true.
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) Seems like an ace to go after for a rebuild Maybe, but also seems like a player to draw attention to a middling franchise. Let him play 2 ways, and let the team build up to 2019. Otani succeeding would put global eyes on white sox.
  25. ooh, a fire tweet, get ready for the cold bucket of water. i'm guessing that'll come from Olney. I kid I kid, I love this stuff!
