Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:18 PM) Well ya just threw in some names that caught my eye. Well, it will not be the depth. We now know that there IS a pull of quantity v. quality. And getting Rodgers back means not much more than that will return. I like the prestige of Reed but his cup of tea did scare me (and he had two). I'd be fine sox going after Tucker as their main piece from Houston and getting 3-4 of their low a level guys. But Tucker/Fisher/Stubbs seems very doable. Reed/Tucker/Stubbs realistic.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:17 PM) Can you imagine it if the Sox with a minuscule payroll decided to go balls to the wall and sign Bryce Harper? Almost a zero chance of it actually happening, but the payroll commitments will be so small at the time, I really expect the Sox will be in on him to some degree. Sox haven't pulled trigger but seemed to be in big ticket items like that. Recently Tanaka, but prior to that Alex Rodriguez in the texas deal.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:06 PM) Quintana deal starts with Rogers, then add in 2-3 more (Tapia, Hoffman/Pint/Freeland, McMahon/Dom Nunez?) Not familiar at all with their prospects. If you get Rodgers/Hoffman, doubt you get much more on tail.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
I'm sorry to do this but what are rumors around Quintana? Anything meaningful?

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:34 PM) Cubs fans eat this prospect list stuff up. It is now the bible because of it. Apparently the BA list is even more important than actual roster make up. Well it did lead to a 4 year World Series window and 1 World Series already.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
Well I will say it is clear that no player, not even Sale and probably not Trout, would see a team clear out their top 6-7 guys for 1 player. Sox fans undervalued how much it meant for teams to add their top prospect, more so if prospect was a top 30 guy. I expected more 18-19 year old wild cards but the top talent return has been as good as I imagined.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
I'm surprised by ss2k5 calling this a failure but I think we need to wait. Our rebuild will not work regardless if the only contributors in 2018 were from trades and not our own development. Best news of day is bucket saying there is a big change internally. They are finally serious about something. They need to be good at it. Or else we will just be where we are now, getting lucky on 4 guys and garbage all around it.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
You know guys Q/Rodon/Giolito/lopez/Fulmer could be a pretty good rotation next year. Did EE sign yet?

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) One thing about Giloto as a start of a return he is the best pitching prospect in the game. So technically we in two days would get the number one postion player and number one pitcher in the minors. And we still hold onto our second most value able piece (Q) for additional positional players, Robertson, Fraizer, Melky, Laurie, Jones, shields, etc we can trade for other high ceiling postion players. I think we were gonna see a regression in Giolito ranking in March. But Urias is best in game hands down. I'd put Urias Reyes Giolito Giolito still great talent but he's risky.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
I think nationally, people would say Giolito/Lopez is a good return. But man, I had a dream of Anderson/Moncada/Robles up the middle. That's hard to shake.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
Listen, I was dreaming about Robles. This sucks. But the white sox farm was equally bad for pitching as hitting. We need everything.

QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) Now everyone wants Robles. Amazing. LOL

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
At this point basically the only pitchers I care about have to throw ambidextrously or 105 mph for me to care. Position players much more fun.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) Why do people like Robles exactly? From looking at stats, he seems to be several years away and generally has the same skill set as Adam Eaton. No idea about defense. What is the point of this? He is described as being a very smart baseball player for his age. Advanced 2-strike approach with a 60 hit tool. Elite speed, elite defense. His skill grades when added up are nearly the same as Moncada. Very bummed if we don't get.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (kwill @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) More than likely the Sox leave with just making the Sale trade. I don't know about you guys but it seems to me that you will not get premier value for Quintana or Abreu in this market. I would hold them for mid-season or next offseason to trade. The guys I deal are Eaton, Frazier, Robertson and Jones. Jones would even be worth keeping if you believe he can close games for you. His value would sky rocket if he can be as successful as closer as he has been in middle relief. I think you'll get good value for Quintana, but Abreu is not in a good year to trade. Honestly don't think Robertson is either. Even with the 100 mill deals going out, lots are available.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
Soxtalk translation at the moment is any prospect that isn't Trea Turner, Benintendi, Swanson, Urias or Bregman are second tier.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) For Eaton alone? Yes, they have the prospects. But for Quintana + Eaton they do not have the pieces to cover the surplus value without leaving their farm in shambles That, and I don't trust us to be able to milk enough value out of one team's farm to justify that sort of a trade. Washington is likely going to offer something like: Giolito/Robles + Fedde/Neuse or Stevenson/Severino for Quintana and Eaton I would not accept that if I am the White Sox Thank you. This is more tethered to reality. No way we package Q plus Eaton unless you get a premiere talent like Turner, in that case you get substantially less in quantity. I'd imagine for Eaton we'd get Robles, Kieboom, C+ prospect, Bullpen Arm

What is Gio Gonzalez value even at after last year? Top 100 prospect?

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) Kopech and Moncada is elite though. Plus two fillers. Q/Eaton aren't that much less valuable then Sale (on the trade market, considering surplus, etc). Okay so Kopech is elite but Robles isn't? Why? Robles tool grades are almost identical to Moncadas with more defense/speed on Robles and less power.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:43 PM) I just don't think two top thirty players is that great of value for a guy who has been one of the best outfielders in baseball and is signed to a cheap contract for five years. Given bust rates of prospects, I don't see it. I think we need top talent + depth and need to get that in our packages for Q and / or Eaton. When it comes to Frazier / Robertson, I hope we get a back end top 100 guy for them plus some low level flyers (or maybe some arms we like that we think we can convert to relievers). Expect a bit more for Frazier then Robertson and think we get more for Robertson at the deadline then today. Nate Jones is interesting, but you wonder how much his injury history downplays the value he would have. The thing is we just had this conversation with Sale and he got nowhere near the filling in of talent after the premier guys that we all expected. I'm pretty confident in saying that if we take all of soxtalks mega deals and cut them in half it is way more accurate. Now, you may not take those top 30 players, but I'm not sure you get much more back.
