  1. I did think last year that Remillard should have been up instead of Sosa's foray to the majors to only get spot duty. I think Remillards a future coach in the org.
  2. I also didn't realize how few attempts he had at 2b. I mostly just saw him being bad on the leaderboard. He'd probably have been much more gradual descent as he was still seen as strong by oaa, it was really just DRP that started to hate him in MN.
  3. it is kind of astonishing how quickly he went from defensive wizard to bad without any real injury.
  4. Weirdly enough andrelton Simmons was awful at 2B last year
  5. you don't need to trust him as the only infielder. But Leury Garcia had a 44 wRC+ last year and that was his stronger side of the platoon. It's true that's 4% better than Romy, but was also in 160 more PAs. Whether or not that's the best case for Romy, it's certainly no case to be made for leury. Now alberto, romy, leury ... all bad vs RHP. But they tried to buoy that in benintendi/colas and returns to from Grandal/moncada. 2b was never going to help us vs. RHP.
  6. Jake Marisnick is Leury Garcia career offense with actual centerfield defense. Romy is leury garcia infield defense with actual power. There is really no depth he provides. The last thing this team needs is a low-obp, high groundball, average defender as depth. He was a very nice piece when he was a controlled versatility guy, but hanser alberto is just as good as him and he's in AAA. Nobody is gonna give that guy an mlb deal.
  7. I think garcia will be dfa'd. The downsides of rewarding a player for a strong aug-oct. They won't let that happen again.
  8. I get why they are asking, but I feel like the constant banging drum of asking the players about fans skepticism is inviting a players vs fans dynamic that is better placed in front office or...if he ever spoke...JR.
  9. Very possible, I hope so, actually. OR next year we sign Kolten Wong in late february after anxiety on what jose rodriguez has ever done, and sosa barely playing in mlb, and for $3.5 mil it's a steal.
  10. I accidentally deleted a sentence but the second line was supposed to transition to how I think there's still a bit of talent in this group to improve the system. Especially Nolasco, but shilling, freeman, Cronin, Avila, Alexy especially have real paths to the majors which you'd hope to see. But only two starters in that list.
  11. yeah I disagree. The reason I disagree is because if you put romy or sosa at 2b to start the season and after two weeks they are awful the org would be terrified and sign some guy like jose iglesias to immediately step in. Andrus is going to get a lot more runway to be bad, at least thru june. I hope he's good as he was last year, but we've seen plenty of older 30 year old players suddenly fall off a cliff, and they get plenty of time to right the ship. Younger players? Unless Hahn has seen them in the top 100 they get zero rope.
  12. it's possible the first people were also the people happy about this?
  13. just feel like carlos perez has a separate standard than everyone else, even those who are very likely to grade as utility infielder as well. that said, there's still quite a few pitchers in here that may show more. I'm guessing ryan burrowes made the top 30 then. Gonna be a big top 30 for international signees.
  14. if we compare every deal to leury garcia, every deal is going to seem great. But at some point this team needs to start compare its decision making to successful teams. I'd just love a compilation of every 3rd/4th contract veteran signed in late feb/march for low amounts that this board says at that amount is a great deal, only to despise at the end of the year that we relied on a thirty-something year old player for so much playing time when we were in a competitive window.
  15. in the last 9 years he’s only done that 3 times and he’ll be 35. He’s had a long career we can draw on, and really it comes down to now whether he can provide a dominant offensive year for him (slightly above average) or if he’s giving us a Leury year (which he has 75% of his career)
  16. I mean the story of why Leury was signed is a story of the Sox constantly not believing in their internal options and wasting money on veterans. This time it’s different though
  17. yeah happened last year. Funny I thought he was ahead of mieses for a bit, he had good contact. Hopefully he can pull a sergio santos.
  18. Romy has 81st percentile speed and 60th percentile arm. Sox seem to want to focus guys in either infield or outfield versatility, but yes he could play center and yes Marisnick is extremely likely to make this roster.
  19. Amazing how all your posts are just a different version of s%*#
  20. Bro on that ozempic
  21. As soon as he was a major league camp invite it became a thing honestly. Was also picked by fegan as a player to watch in ST. There is one of these guys every year.
  22. well turns out its WAS. Hope he can at least get Carr, but maybe that circles the commanders as a major jump back position for bears.
