  1. My response to this is to take a gander at who is 2nd best in DRP at 2B. I cannot imagine him being there had he stayed on the sox. Hahn's entire tenure as GM has seen terrible defense overall and very little progressive improvement in defense with the exception of Jose becoming tolerable and Moncada's journey at third. Meanwhile a bunch of guys have left that were deemed hopeless and became good to great (Semien, Narvaez). I'm sure some part of this is scouting (drafting 100 overweight corner ballplayers), but hard not to notice how an org like As, Cardinals and now cubs can so routinely ratchet up top defenses from what they have.
  2. It's really hard to see how this guy gets to the bigs before 27 when he is scaling his innings up 10 IP per year from 0 2 years ago. By 2033 he'll be a 100 ip pitcher.
  3. This is my favorite stuff from BP. Highly recommend bookmarking in the future as we discuss defensive metrics for players. I had previously thought FRAA was superior for infield, OAA for outfield. Looks like DRS was much superior for infield the last half decade. Great stuff by Judge. I think most shocking thing to me is Schoop had out of this world metrics for 2022 at 2b in OAA. This just has him 3rd, but rates Torres very highly. Pretty interesting stuff. Very unfavorable to Segura at 2b which is interesting.
  4. And it appears the blazers are selling and not buying. What a nightmare this year is.
  5. At this point I’m kinda pining for paxson to take over again.
  6. but the nice thing about arlington is you can leave early sunday, spend all day there tailgating and enjoying the additional facilities built around and for the stadium experience. If arlington was just solving traffic issues, yes. It's not. But the point is soldier field is behind the highways that segregate the city from the lake. It's in a big field. There's not much of a tailgating culture because of lack of parking lots, and there's nothing there beside the stadium. It's beautiful land. But chicago is such a big 10 city, and I think that's a big part of the ticket holders as well. I'm sure they want more of that all day fun. I'm looking forward to it, this will be an awesome process to watch.
  7. how on earth...how on earth...do the lakers still end up better with russell plus a bad pick.
  8. https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article/80209/prospectus-feature-introducing-range-defense-added/ Pretty interesting and probably where we’d all place TA. He can get to a lot…yet it doesn’t often lead to outs. Or often enough at least. Would love to see where Jose Valentin would have been when I have a chance to look. Really thought TA would find consistency with reps, but also feel like if he was on the cardinals he’d be the best shortstop in the league.
  9. I do think he just needs to play nice for 4 months. But...if he re-signs there that's where trouble will happen like...Oct/November for sure. I'm sure he'll just mope and not play or whatever b.s. he always does.
  10. “We left you another voicemail about a season ticket opportunity”
  11. They'll never be able to build anything else on soldier field because a certain group believes their condo gives them ownership of the public land across from them as well, including the views, air, essence.
  12. I was worried the alt fuels/hybrid continuation of F1 would lead to less investment by car companies who have moved to all EV but looks like the brand play is strong enough (probs thanks to Red Bull) that it’s worth the money anyway
  13. I feel like this is closer to real but not sure Clancy is still a 2nd rounder.
  14. I think if you want a realistic trade you have to keep it to 80% or above. No way you get that future first or third rounder without sending back more. Esp to just move back to five
  15. Nah doing nothing is better than Kyrie.
  16. It may not be missed time but it's 100% going to be an excuse for slow starts or wearing down.
  17. PFF updated their top 50 FAs with salary projections. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2023-free-agent-rankings-free-agency Some notables: DTs: Javon Hargave 3 yrs / $55 $36 guaranteed Daron Payne 4 yrs/ $80 $55 guaranteed OTs Mike McGlinchey 4 yrs / $62 $38 guaranteed Orlando Brown 5 yrs / $102 $70 guaranteed Kaleb McGary 4 yrs / $52 $22 guaranteed
  18. Yeah exactly. Not sure if this year will be the biggest of that or if it will trickle thru 2025.
  19. I think I mentioned before but hopefully the velus experience conditioned people to seeing older rookies because this class has a lot of them. Popular center in mock drafts is John Michael Schmitz will be 24 at the draft, and there's a bunch like him.
  20. I don't know, that would be Leury who was one of the worst players in baseball. One Armed luis robert had a 52 wRC+ in the second half. Leury had a 44.
  21. I think the only reversion that will truly be impactful is if we can become an above average power team. That requires sooo many profiles to change to happen and seems impossible. But physically, there is no reason why we shouldn't have more 25 hr hitters on this team. Fortunately romy will supply 25 and Carlos perez 25.
  22. Especially when it coincides with a game. Joakim noah day, etc.
  23. really don't want to hear about how an organization is ever undesirable again after miami went from the brian flores debacle to still getting mike mcdaniels (true he was passed over for others) and now getting vic fangio to join as DC. Houston goes through treating two coaches like garbage and then win a bidding war for Demeco Ryans. Good for McDaniels though. I definitely had the same gut feeling as others that he just didn't seem like he could run the locker room. But he is himself and honest and didn't try to be a different person. I can see why Fangio would be drawn to that.
  24. man maybe jerry just made a big long bet on META and suddenly he goes crazy and signs wacha to a not that impressive deal. But crazy for him.
  25. thought this was about eye contacts. Dailies are expensive.
