QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) Why do they want to play Heyward in left? Sorry, Calhoun to left. Obviously heyward not in CF sucks a bit of that value out. Edit: this was a tweet from Jon Morosi if anyone can find it.

Didn't mean to take over. It sucks, but when we began being more open about that, we suddenly found how common it is. From in our family to friends. It's a part of life, unfortunately, but it's a taboo and it can feel rough when you think it's this huge rare personal issue.

After that Angels tweet, another one that they are talking about moving calhoun to RF for Heyward. Heyward Trout Calhoun....yiiikes

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 02:56 PM) I am not a huge Gordon fan but I would like him a hell of a lot more than Upton. Gordon seems like such a better fit for the Sox. We need some defense. As long as we weren't giving gordon his last contract ever, I'd be happy to. Would love if we could pay him a 2 year 50 mill contract instead of paying later years. Not sure he'd take that.

Also been trying for a year with 3 miscarriages, sucks to go through. 2 of em were very early and probably wouldn't have known if not for tracking. Also had trouble with the not wanting to tell people until 12 weeks, but the last one we just didn't drink and didn't care if people asked. After having some trouble, its amazing the amount of people who have the same deal. Sucks to lose the big reveal, but it relieved a lot of stress to just be like "yes, we're trying, not taking any chances". Also was a lot easier on the wife just telling her mom and sister and not needing to worry about secrecy and also having someone to talk to if anything went wrong.

Astros with Jose Fernandez would be scary. That's a sick 1/2.

All my arrogance about tickets was misplaced. Regal Websters "open" times were only open if you include the handicap seats, which are just open spaces for wheel chairs. Foiled.

Judge deciding whether to reveal police shooting video
bmags replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
Frankly, it doesn't matter. Police abuse existed before Rahm, it will happen after Rahm. This should be aimed at the CPD and creating reforms so that police officers that abuse their powers be removed. This issue of police accountability is not unique to Chicago. This is the help it needs to shine sunlight on it and move forward with real reform that will not be dependent on the mayor. -
I feel like we are going to be like the 00 Royals with an OF of Damon, Beltran and Dye "Whoa they had Sale, Quintana and Rodon in the same rotation and they didn't win anything?"

Didn't expect this to turn into the war on christmas thread.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) A year ago they could have said that about Joc Pederson. I'd still take Joc but his stock is a heck of a lot more down than it was this time last year (or especially say last May/June before he fell off a cliff and went all Jeff Francouer). No matter how elite a prospect, they still have pretty high bust risk. Its just the nature of the beast. With the amount of young, high profile talent that has came up and had early success (Kris Bryant / Harper / Trout / Fernandez / Sale / Rodon), I think it has slightly altered people's perspectives, but I'd also argue their are still as many high profile busts as before. Getting a good, proven major leaguer when they are still a few years away from free agency is still incredibly valuable and its something I'd go 2 for 1 on most anytime. 2 for 1 prospect deals for above average players with a few years left seem to have limited downside. Right, I'm not saying they are, but I don't think there would be the level of scrutiny on that package if we are talking about Jose Fernandez last spring. -
I forgot that I likely saw all of the originals on their re-release.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainmen...cago-story.html Very awesome news that Chicago will get the same theatre company putting this on. Its why I still love this city, and don't care that the south has lower taxes, DAD. While the writer/director/actor will change, the same production company is putting it on at bank of america theatre. This is the only city in the country getting this treatment outside of broadway circuit.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) The problem I see is Jose Fernandez is cost-controlled talent. The fact that a 2-1 for Fernandez (yes two very top prospects) is so laughed at, goes to tell you how overvalued prospects are today over an already existing proven / cost controlled talent. Just look at other sites proposals on what it would take to get Sale or Q and how it differentiates from our assumptions on this site. Reality is right now prospects are more valuable than ever before, yet bust rates aren't any different (i.e., they are absurdly high). And the actual payroll vs. revenue generated in MLB is down, which is a boon for the owners (payrolls haven't inflated near as much as their bottom line results / revenues). I could see Kenny all of a sudden becoming a money ball genius in this era (presuming he can draft and develop talent to the point that other teams are interested). I think part of that is injury, but I was also surprised when it was seen as the "crazy marlins" asking for th emoon. That said, there is a cloud of risk there that you typically would not want to give up your 2 beloved talents for. -
So, he didn't have a good year, but he did get paid 4.5 mill last year. That said...yes, this market is nuts.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 08:51 AM) How long do you think it will be before you can just walk up for tickets? I know it depends where you are (how many screens), but I'd rather not deal with the Cosplayers and fanboys (no offense). do you have any theatres with assigned seating near you? Regal Webster is a great theatre with huge seats and lots of room so even if its sold out you can't tell.

I am shocked that sw has 3-4x the price of orbitz, as sw has almost always been the cheapest flight for me. Unless of course you are talking about spirit/frontier, and I would highly recommend against. No amount of savings is worth the upcharging, delayed service that you get from those.

Depends what we mean by contend. It would probably get us to 83-84 wins. -

or a 10-year torture ring. -
Because it won't work. Because it will make us worse. Because 1 year after "going for it" we are already discussing dumping off the contracts of the players we signed for basically nothing just so we can sign other players. The teams you mentioned don't have just barely enough to compete if all goes well, they have players not just there, but players on the way. We are 1-2 years from this. We are 1-2 years from a surplus anywhere.

A counterpoint to my preference for an all defense team is that we largely had a defensively enhanced team from july 31st onward and the team was still terrible and it was samardjizas worst stretch.
