He certainly could be a number of players.
-
Well apparently they are all still under contract. I'm guessing Lowe/Keri will move to insider content.
-
Honestly Grantlands biggest accomplishment is that I could actually name almost all of their writers and would read an article by them. Did an amazing job at promoting their talent.

They are paid to profess opinions on television and did so. His GoT recaps were must read.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) Dunno about you guys, but that was on my list of daily list of website to go to, usually multiple times in the day. Loved Barnwell/Mays, love Zach Lowe, love Jalen/Jacoby (though that'll probably continue since they're on the radio). ESPN looks so terrible with all this. Same and add Greenwald, Morris and Katie Baker when she actually wrote about hockey.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) I think Carr has the best chance to be one of the better in the league. Although I'm not sure comparing a QB to Dalton is a bad thing. He is completing almost 68% of his passes and is on pace to throw 32 touchdowns and 5 int. I really don't mean it as an insult, but he's definitely not manning/brady/rodgers/brees territory where the QB is the team. Half that equation is now lost and only Luck looks close.

I have a hard time seeing any of those as something more than Andy Dalton. Mariota with the right coach maybe.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) Let's say the number was 15% more efficient, and that's possible if charter schools are paying lower teacher salaries and less benefits (medical/pension, etc.) You've got to basically bring the charter/private schools up TO scale quickly...that kind of transition doesn't happen overnight. Let's just say they turned over all the public schools (grounds/facilities) to private/charter schools. Maybe you're getting the savings from fewer administrators, hiring mostly younger (less expensive) teachers and a lot of times charter schools have relationships with Teach for America, for example. There's still the issue with a lot of the very best "inner city" teachers using those schools to gain experience and then leaving for the elite suburban schools and private academies when they've acquired more expertise and competency in their subjects. In Kansas City, the one charter school (other than KIPP) that works REALLY well, the two founding members are the former CEO of H&R Bloch (Thomas Bloch, who would make a better president than anyone running) and Barnett Helzberg, former CEO of Helzberg Diamonds. Those guys both got into education not to make a profit from it, but because of the belief that the children of the city deserved a better education and more opportunities in life. A lot of private and charter schools are just as, if not more, poorly run and those administrators and founders are often looking for ways (not always, of course) to enrich themselves at the cost of the students, ultimately. It's just like the prison systems being privatized. It CAN work, but not if PROFIT is the only motivation, because education doesn't have profitability as its first priority and never will (at least it shouldn't). Yes, we can look at the parents as consumers and the students as end products, but that's a rather dark way to think of the profession if you're idealistic about changing the lives of young people. This is a lot of stuff that would seem to be true, but there has been so much research on charters and private prisons. As more and more studies come out, I'm having a really hard time saying that they are some sort of evil system enacted to cut pay when they have started to separate and perform better even with inputs controlled.

Sox to hire Greg Sparks as Ast Hitting coach

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 09:53 AM) Buddy Bell was once an outsider. So was Nixon. Great point Dick. -

Hahn appears to be trying to bring in outside people. In a moment of optimism, I feel there are sharks surrounding Buddy Bell (metaphorically OF COURSE). -
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) You got to check out Birddemic. birddemic was too self aware. The Room was what it was because it came off as sincere.

Crazy how different the league looks this year. 2 years ago I thought this may be the best crop of qbs at once we've ever had. Now, with Brees, Manning, Romo out or playing like garbage, and QBs like Kaepernick RGIII busting and not many truly stepping up as elite aside from Luck, and suddenly this looks like 10 years ago. All of the offenses have been influenced by great QBs, I wonder how it changes if the talent doesn't turn around.

Patty Murray for prez

I would prefer nate 10x out of 10 to aaron brooks. Edit: okay. Well...maybe I haven't kept up on his last 2 years too much.

Kobe has shot like 400 times already. Still nice to see him playing.
-
I had to turn away for a while. Can't watch a team with bargain and joe Johnson on same court.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) If Thibs was still the coach people would be freaking out that Portis didn't play. Ha and " why is butler playing 37 minutes!?!?!?"

I cannot imagine how jaded I would be if I was a bball fan in New York right now. Is there a less watchable team than Brooklyn?
-
Would really like to take a chance on a reasonable SP on this market and hope for this best. We are due for good luck right?

When we redid upstairs bath, they covered up nice hexagonal tile with some sweet black and white vinyl and surrounded it with green plastic tile 5 feet around the walls. Oh, they also framed in the shower with a nice 2 foot soffitt from the ceiling. Served no functional purpose but did make the 6 ft you feel every bit of it.

Also totally second rocks point about re-doing the renovations in the 90s vs fixing the issues from the 1900s. Same story on my end.

I just regraded backyard and poured new concrete for sidewalks/added unilock patio space. These rainy days have been nice.

I love trading two old expensive contracts that didn't work out for a bigger older expensive contract that won't work out.
-
I'm fully onboard with some of Hoiberg's changes, but, Thibs got a hell of a lot out of his benches in his time. I think the hockey shifts are not my favorite, but I left last night's game thinking that this team looks basically the same. It is an awkward awkward group of players with Gasol/Noah/Gibson and weak guards.

Their spacing too is just crazy
