  1. I was at the Boston game when he burned through 5-6 relief pitchers in 1 and 1/3rd innings. I remember being really mad, but looking back, if just one of them had actually gotten outs it was fine. He kept pulling pitcher after pitcher who came in with no stuff and were wild. Then one got an out and so he left them in, and they were shelled. I do think he deserves a year with a good bullpen before we indict him. His lineups, I understand his thought process and it's probably his experience as a player leading him there, but I still think he's not using players in their best spots.
  2. Good to know. With that, I will be fine with a 5-11 season next year. Happy with a 7-9 season or above. They need so much more talent to make that D work.

I don't know what I agree with here. I worry that some may read this and assume you need to go highest quality first. First you should experiment with matching colors and patterns well. Learn this and you can make 1-2 suits feel like 5 by bringing in different components. If you are going to wear suits all the time, you will end up paying more to get better fabric. The cheaper items may look comparable but they don't breathe or feel great. Shoes on the other hand, I don't see a point going for a big brand. Go to Nordstrom rack and find a pair that you like a lot and buy it. Nobody will be able to pinpoint a $400 shoe to a $80 shoe, it's not until you get to really nice leathers that you can tell. But yes, have at least one suit tailored and nice. I have a custom suit I bought before my wedding. I love it and hate when I have to wear the others.
  4. I think I've actually been one of the bigger Westbrook supporters on this site, but there's something that just compels me to be like "No You're Wrong" when you are trying to claim "See! I was right!" after a guy has been out for 2 full years of basketball while the other has been mostly healthy.
  5. Also don't plan on making money. Buy a place whose PITI is reasonable to renting. You can only guarantee that your return is living in a place, not that it will get you money back.
  6. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) I've started looking again at condos (just online, not with a realtor) as my lease ends in May (but is month to month after, owner is selling the whole building and will give us a 3 month heads up on when he needs us out no matter what). My current roommate is most likely buying a place and moving in with his girlfriend so that kinda leaves me on my own. Has anyone bought/sold a 1bdr condo, is it really hard to find a buyer for those places? I've been told that they are had to unload. Also, any suggestions for mortgage providers? I bank with Chase so they are always an option, but if anyone has good suggestions or places to avoid that would be great to know. The market for 1bdr condos sucks. I won't tell you not to buy condos in the city, but I would say if you are going to buy one, make sure it's in a dense area. Don't buy a condo in like norwood park or oak park. I had 2 friends buy in 2012 with 2bd condos, and now have made 40k in equity. I had others that bought in 2009 and will be underwater for 10 years. I would just tell you to make sure you get a place you can rent out, that is in a neighborhood that is not already priced out, and do NOT buy that with less than 20% down.

  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) If Michael Jordan and six NBA titles couldn't turn that neighborhood around, I imagine the sports teams had little to do with the turn around. The Hawks were still big draws in the 90s too. Right. That there are a lot of bars out front with blackhawk flags out front may make it seem like they sprouted up because of the hawks, but if they were not sports bars they'd be something else. They sprouted out because of the residential development in west loop buildings and more people living there that can support it year round. Shysocks is right, it started building east to west, not the other way around. That Ukrainian village has seen similar growth, with worse transportation options and farther from the stadium/downtown.
  9. I like Farmer and DJ but I know I'm the minority here, and I also recognize it's because I don't listen to the radio broadcast often.
  10. Arizona should not be an example for anything land-development wise.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) Because obviously you knew that Rose was going to miss around 3 years of basketball with two catastrophic injuries. I would love to see what 2010-11 rose looks like with Durant alongside him rather than Deng.
  12. I will happily take this but at this point I'd have to say the Pads take the cake. Too bad they play in a stadium that makes baseball as interesting as cricket.
  13. I was thinking how odd it was that this is probably the most unrecognizeable NBA in terms of star teams in 30 years. Top Teams Golden State Atlanta Clippers Oklahoma City Toronto Portland San Antonio Memphis That is nuts. And considering ATL and Toronto, it goes to show that no matter the sport, good management can trump all. Small market, no luck in superstars, whatever. On one hand it's a testament to how good Boston/LA were.
  14. While I would like to see more western con games, I also don't get to see them even when Bulls play. I'd prefer majority of bulls games be in eastern/central time zone.
  15. Honestly Howard takes a huge hit from the fact that he had 2 maybe 3 dominant years. He's a shell of himself, still quite good because of his position.

There was an article that if the padres didn't sign Shields they were confident they'd have Hamels. I wonder what the package was. The padres have been maybe the most boring franchise of my lifetime. Even when they were good they were boring. It will be weird to see them interesting.
  17. Listening to walton do UCLA games is by far the worst of all of them.
  18. So sad about David Carr.
  19. Can PECOTA re-run their projection?
  20. Snell man, playing well for 4 straight games. Him being an NBA player is great news.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 11, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) Apparently he was all set to sign on January 24th with a mystery team, and then it all fell apart and his agent put out a release that said he has chosen not to sign with anyone just yet, and is focusing on his recovery and gaining strength in his arm. Not something you want to hear out of a guy who has had two TJS I did not know this, that's a nice tidbit.
  22. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) Snell responding nicely. It is great that he actually looks like an NBA player now I thought Snell would be in dleague by now. Hilarious considering what a baby Bernstein is being about McDermott right now. Snell had like 8 straight DNP CD before this. Practice matters. Now we see how Snell looks with seasoning. He was raw as hell but you are nevr given up on with thibs.
  23. More concerned with cutting down Gasol's minutes than upping Dougs.
  24. So basically the things Boozer was terrible at on defense were more acceptable for our scheme than the things Gasol is terrible at. This is what worries me about Gasol, as Taj/Noah are no longer the closing unit, so it's really hard to get late stops without over and backs.
  25. Or Micah, if he's not a starter at that point.
