  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 07:03 PM) I think the problem is what was actually said. He said he doesn't want to be sore at his son's graduation or at meetings post retirement, so he will take a game off here and there. I am speculating he is using that as an example because someone told him he has to lighten it up a bit or he may get injured again and be limited physically the rest of his life. The Rose camp is a problem. They feed Derrick things to say and after it gets filtered through his brain, something that a lot of people would be puzzled by, is said. If he is so concerned about being "sore" (his words) at his son's graduation, why doesn't he just retire now? Why risk it at all. The will he or won't he comeback a couple of years ago was also a Reggie Rose production. Apparently, the Bulls wanted to issue a press release that he was out for the season (which he ultimately was), but Reggie wanted to keep the speculation alive. It ultimately made his meal ticket look bad. I actually should be fair to Reggie. While he is a problem, it does seem he has been a really good brother. Ultimately Derrick deserves all the credit for his success, but Reggie deserves a lot of credit for keeping him in a position to do so. I think all of this is true, I also don't think any of it is a problem or something fans need to get into meathead mode about. Addressing a separate poster: And to the part about athletes having too much control. LOL. That is the most backward logic I've ever heard. Owners get upset about high salaries, owners put arbitrary cap in place, owners still want to win, owners stupidly spend too much on a player, player gets injured, player should apologize for "holding team hostage".
  2. Of course, when the problem isn't what was actually said, but the "optics" of what was said, you know it's a real hard-hitting issue.
  3. It's been how many years since Shanahan was successful?
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 04:40 PM) OMG! A player wants a life after playing his sport?! He's not going to kill himself for the game and the team (the team that will throw him away the moment he's not useful)?! THE HORROR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wait wait, owners and management aren't considering player safety? There's an issue with concussions and long-term ailments that the leagues aren't paying for. THE PLAYERS ARE HUMANS NOT ROBOTS! I DEMAND ACTION! RABBLE, RABBLE, RABBLE! Jesus Christ this country can find ANYTHING to complain about. I don't think we've ever been more on the same page.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 03:12 AM) If her husband didn't screw up South Carolina with his comments, and the Kennedy's, Kerry and Oprah didn't jump on board right around that time of "anti-Bill" backlash, history would tell a different story. Because the Clintons had an almost perfect record with African-Americans until that caucus. This is "politico history". The anti-bill backlash was why Obama was powerful in the first place. It didn't start in south carolina. People didn't want to rehash the womanizing and perpetual scandals of his eara.
  6. I really don't care. Rose says something that sounds pissy, people cry and cry because they would do it so differently if they were in his position!, and then it turns out he meant something else but didn't say it correctly. Rose was basically acknowledging what every medical doctor fan who has commented for the past 2 years has been saying "he needs to change his game!"
  7. Must mean it is Marquis Wilson time. Time to save the season W.
  8. Some fun highlights from last night for those that missed game: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2262433...ights-and-recap
  9. Smith-Kruger-Hossa ... Okay
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 06:48 PM) Also, at some point, Thibs might have to think about how he can get Rose and Brooks on the floor at the same time. You can't always do that, particularly due to their defense, but he ought to look for matchups that allow us to get Brooks out there without coming at a direct expense to Rose. Brooks' defense has been surprisingly good to me, especially so early in the season. I think it will look even better when our bigs figure out the d a little better (/ noah gets healthy). It really is remarkable how every year we get a vet min small point guard and see them flourish. It makes total sense to me why, but still impressive. I feel like for the 4th year in a row I'll be like "but Brooks was the best of all of them! We can't let him go!"
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 05:19 PM) Gibson? That guy has always been a leaper. Pau, now that I can see Gibson hurt his ankle vs. cleveland though. Last night was first time he looked more comfortable jumping at a stand still.
  12. Then I don't buy it. It is 1-2 years too early for this move.
  13. Is it possible this is the one time where the hype over how much a star player will get will not at all match-up to what people pay him?
  14. Also, Last night watching the rebounding. I really do think 80% of this is Jo and Gibson's inability to jump.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 03:49 PM) I hope he starts making more of those wide open jumpers. He's thrown up a couple of clunkers this year shooting-wise. He was terrible against Cleveland and a big reason why we lost that game (bad shooting + no rebounding). His overall numbers on the year are decent though. He's been fairly efficient and the blocks help his defensive numbers. When the offense really has into garbage mode, Gasol has been the one who could create his own shot. Actually, it really has been comforting. When the offense has run into the doldrums (i.e. when Kirk comes into the game): 1) Rose has shown he can still get a basket at will OR 2) Gasol will iso and ole` his defenders into a basket or foul OR 3) Jimmy will get fouled That is 2 things we didn't have last year and 3 should have had but wasn't happenin'
  16. QUOTE (shysocks @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 03:15 PM) Eh, IMO Detroit is a rung above the woebegone East teams despite the early record. Not great but not an automatic walkover either. They have some talent. I sat second row sideline last night. First time I have been even remotely that close to the floor at an NBA game and it was a blast. One thing I learned: deciding to call a charge or a block can be incredibly difficult. Derrick wasn't even one step slow and he had some circus passes, as others have noted. Pau has to get his body language in check; on one pass from Rose to his ankles, in particular, he practically rolled his eyes out of his head before getting back on D. The way the UC erupted for Big Macs is still hilarious. And Benny remains the best mascot in sports. I've never been at the 100 level, really want to. Toronto will be a big test.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 02:12 PM) It's hard to be a true pg when nobody around you can score. It will be interesting to see what his assist numbers are this year, assuming he plays most of the season of course. EDIT: And I shouldn't say "true" pg as he's still going to be a score first guy but you get my point. I feel like Kurt Thomas was the only one who truly benefitted from staying high, letting Rose drive and kick it back out. Now you see Gasol is gonna get a lot of wide open jumpers from there.
  18. Second half less fun offensively, however, jimmy is gonna get some wide open threes from Derrick. Waiting for the but but but where is Doug?!?! Crowd. He'll play soon enough. He looked real dumb on d tonight.
  19. This has been beautiful offensive basketball by the Bulls. Rose has made everything easy for his teammates and Gasol with an early double double.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 10:38 PM) So we all agree that LeBron is coming to the Bulls next year? #2015plan
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 10:33 PM) Just like the game last year, when he didn't get the signal on the 4th down play where Cobb was wide open. Dude does have a lot of concussions.
  22. I bet Cleveland is putting that out there to further distance themselves from the tampering allegation that came out of the Love trade.
  23. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 08:50 PM) Reports out there (Sam Smith?) suggesting Kevin Love to opt out of contract at the end of season and test free agency with Lakers on his mind. That.was.quick I call B.S. Every player is rumored to go to Lakers.
  24. MULTIPLE FRONTS! MULTIPLE PLAYERS! MULTIPLE COVERAGES! fare thee well, 2013 bears offseason press.
