  1. How do all of the spurs become such good ballhandlers and shooters?
  2. Touisiaissaopolis used to play for us right?
  3. Oh no, Bosh wasn't let in on the plan!
  4. QUOTE (CyAcosta41 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 06:32 PM) I believe it's more problems with the down-and-away slider. He hits the high breaking pitches fine. Just like everybody else. Except, unlike everybody else, he doesn't have to barrel it up for the ball to go a long, long way. For Jose, it's all about adjustments. He should NEVER swing at the down-and-away sliders UNLESS he has two strikes. Otherwise, let ... it ... go. Most pitchers can't get that sh*t over with regularity, anyway. Abreu is very, very good already ... and he's dealing with major league pitchers and scouting reports who are trying everything to get him out. If he makes the necessary adjustments -- and he seems to be the quick study that most of us could only hope he'd be -- he has the chance to jump from very, very good to simply incredible. This signing/contract might very well go down as one of the biggest steals ... EVER. I am feeling pretty good after yesterday where 2 inside fastballs where turned for a LF home run and then an OPPOSITE FIELD SINGLE. Love this man.
  5. Yeah, but especially sucks as a Mizzou fan with Weatherspoon having ruptured his achilles. I still have William Moore to watch which is cool.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 05:13 PM) SoxTalk is a cruel, unforgiving world.
  7. What is this proposed lineup? Chalmers-Wade-James-Melo-Bosh at C? It's ridiculous and isn't happening. Maybe if Bosh leaves. The players union would throw a fit if all 4 take 14 million.
  8. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 02:19 PM) No love for Danks in here??? That was his 10th quality game in 12 starts. His ERA in those 10 starts is 2.86. Might not get the attention because his ERA overall is above 4, thanks in part to the 2 non quality starts where he gave up 15 runs, but IMO he's right up there with Q as our 2nd best pitcher. They both have 10 quality starts, only 12 other pitchers have more. Honestly I continue to be amazed. I think one of my favorite things in baseball is when a pitcher starts to breakdown and not feature their stuff anymore, and refocuses and starts finding ways to get it done with stuff that would write-off a prospect. Sale-Quintana-Danks has been consistently keeping us up when our bats cooled, and Rienzo/noesi have been good enough. I would really love a June in the mold of 2010.
  9. Edit wrong thread
  10. We've hit the mythical 8 run Mark we were told about
  11. I can't remember last De Aza hit I've seen.
  12. To be honest, next David Price is my expectation for Rodon. That's the type of impact player I was hoping for at #3. That he also has a high floor is great, but I want him to be excellent.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 08:39 PM) I'm really surprised we went over slot with Fry (even though it wasn't by much). Me too, that's kind of funny considering when Fry was selected we thought it was sign of us getting cheaper talent.
  14. Why do we always give up so much! Cubs got Fred McGriff for virtually nothing.
  15. What does this mean for Rodon!?!?!?!?
  16. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 05:51 PM) Again. The move, at least in my scenario, then allows you to amnesty Boozer, trade Taj, and add another star. I wouldn't hate trading Taj/Butler/Boozer and picks or whatever the speculated deal is one bit, I'm just much more intrigued by Rose/Love/Melo. Yeah, I understand that was your hypothetical, but obviously there is no way that is happening. Considering the thread started with the rumor of the bulls package for love I'm guessing that's what most people are focusing on, not flipping corey brewer for Melo.
  17. Trading Noah for love defeats the purpose for trading for Love, which was presumably to field a better basketball team. Getting a bunch of 10-20 first round rookies to surround him and a broken Rose doesn't really do that.
  18. They were 40-42 in the west, which would have been good enough for playoffs in the east by itself. Exchange the 50+ western conference games for Eastern conference games and they are probably a 50 win team. Carmelo managed far worse actually in the east.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 02:44 AM) It isn't bad if he can hit 25+ home runs and steal some bases for us.. And have an occasional break out year. I just would love it so much more if he was dynamic CFer.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 03:17 PM) I'd bet 3, 8 and 9 all (or at least 2) go below slot to save even more, I could see us having 600-700k available. Jarvis at or slightly over maybe. I think Rodon will eat a bit of that too, but I'd also bet the Sox end up with north of 500k in extra money (which is to say 600k to offer) to Montes de Oca. But I thought has been said that we can offer up to 10% over our allotment without penalty, so couldn't we offer more than 600k to Montes de Oca?
  21. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 06:35 AM) Love is hardly a "superstar". 26-12-4 at age 25 is very similar to Charles Barkley. When he came into the league, he wasn't a 3 point shooter. He has gotten better every year. That a player like him is available at this age is incredible.
  22. As a bulls fan, I really hope Thibidou and GarPax watched last night's game. I hope they saw how in playoff games every D player is all over you, rotations are quicker, and trying to beat that by having one 3 point shooter on the floor and one player going iso is a fools game. The passing of SA is constantly forcing rotations on defense and getting d players off balance enough to get some driving room, and if it collapses an open 3. They were finding the open three player all the way across the lane (i.e. the hardest pass) consistently. Bulls will never beat the heat or a good playoff team as currently operating.
  23. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 11:13 PM) Hmm, I thought I saw he had that done twice? Well I like him a lot better now then. Still wouldn't play hardball with Rodon over the kid, but I'd be much happier if he signs now. I don't want to play hardball with Rodon for this kid, I don't think anyone would risk Rodon for him. I am just intrigued by de Oca because he is the only "questionable" pick left and that is always exciting. I say that because Rodon is going to sign. And I don't care if he signs for 6.5 mill if that's what it takes.
  24. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 11:01 PM) Why would you say that? De Oca had 2 TJ surgeries and he just got out of high school. Rodon is a college player who has never had the procedure. How are they even remotely close? Also Coop likes Rodon so I'm assuming there's not some serious or at least unfixable mechanical issues there. He has only had 1 TJ surgery.
  25. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 11:34 PM) Who cares how much money we give him as long as the Sox get their guy soon & don't lose a pick? BODM is getting vastly overrated here thanks to a weak draft after the second round. Think about this, both Javy Guerra and Maikel Cleto have SU/CL stuff but with other issues too, they were free via waivers. There are always going to be big arms who need a lot of work available. The guy isn't even worth considering in the Rodon signability stuff, I mean, there is a reason he went until the 14th round. Just off our own recent history we've DFAd the likes of Jhan Marinez, Clevelan Santeliz, Gregory Infante, etc. all of whom at one time were considered legitimate RP prospects with great arms. I know Santeliz made AAA and the other 2 actually got to pitch in the majors. Letting de Oca go isn't really an issue, if he signs great, if not whatever. But you don't screw around with Rodon over that guy. You can always find these kinds of arms. Basically if the Sox give the kid $500K and pay for his schooling they are doing him a massive favor that could provide for him a career playing baseball. If he says no thank you and wants to gamble that much then good luck kid. He's not getting massively overrated at all, you aren't going to be in trouble as an organization if you add a bunch of live arms to your system. Whether he pans out or not, it's the type of risk you take.
