  1. Zach Thompson: 6'7" 210lbs DOB: 10/23/93 Thompson is fairly new to pitching, but already has the plus velocity that many scouts look for. Thompson’s fastball will sit in the low to mid 90s and touch 96 mph but comes in straight too often, especially when he leaves it up. He also throws a changeup, curveball and slider, and all three will need a good amount of development in pro ball to become consistent weapons. He does have decent command of his pitches and has shown a willingness to go right after hitters, which could help his stuff play up. Although raw, especially for a college arm, Thompson should intrigue teams with his frame and arm strength. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2014/drafttracker.jsp
  2. Oh, are we already at the "we hate rodon" stop on the white sox emotional rollercoaster?
  3. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 07:22 PM) Need to click Tweets and replies. He replied to a request from NC State for favourite Rodon memories: Brett Austin @brettaustin_3 · 21h @NCStateBaseball @CarlosRodon16 when he growled at me freshmen year after being taken out against UNC. I had to use the bathroom after that Looks like we've got a Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin situation. Sad to see. Hope we don't sign either and disrupt our chemistry. How is that similar to Incognito Martin? Sounds like the way Roy Halladay was.
  4. They're right. We should have just not drafted anyone. No point. Edit: you should've clarified the entire piece was satire.
  5. Guessing thi swasn't the home run people felt like our 1st and 2nd were
  6. I did kind of enjoy the freaking out on radio last night.
  7. Out of curiosity, when is deadline to sign Rodon, and what typically would he do during the downtime?
  8. But if you aren't within 90% and they don't sign to you lose shot at a compensation pick?
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 05:03 PM) This is true. We should all probably temper our expectations for today -- we just drafted TWO overslot guys yesterday, so it's not likely we're going to be able to fit any more in. If we do draft that HS Catcher though, we may as well start entering our names in the draft because there will be nothing left.
  10. I'm not advocating trading Johnson but just strange how easy it is to get sports writers to regurgitate any "scoop" you give them.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) So the Miami Heat, lost because of the heat. Nice. "They are from Miami they are not used to hot humid weather"
  12. After reading up, I really highly doubt sox go anything other than college senior next few rounds.
  13. Um: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/27853758-57...ml#.U5HkMvldU9Y Apparently Micah Johnson is "untouchable"
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 03:17 PM) I don't really want to see Rodon on the big league roster this year. Give him a few minor league innings at Kanny and Winston Salem. I could see him starting next year at Birmingham and moving quick though. Is that unrealistic? I think "starting arbitration this year" is more of a negotiation tactic I'd be fine with Sox using. No, I don't see a reason to rush. But oh man am I excited for Coop to get working on Rodon.
  15. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) FWIW: Bleacher reports 2nd round mock has us taking, Micheal Cederoth from San Diego State. Previous Selections 3. LHP Carlos Rodon, North Carolina State 44. RHP Spencer Adams, White County HS (Ga.) The Pick: RHP Michael Cederoth, San Diego State Baseball America rank: 45 MLB.com rank: 59 The run on college arms continues with Michael Cederoth, but the big 6'6" right-hander has worked as a reliever this spring, where he has thrived thanks to one of college baseball's best fastballs. He regularly works in the mid-90s but can dial it up to the triple digits, and while his secondary stuff is still developing, his slider is a potential out pitch. The White Sox need quality arms wherever they can get them, and after saving 20 games with a 2.28 ERA and 9.6 K/9 at San Diego State, Cederoth would be a welcome addition to their organization. I'd love that.
  16. I have to say it was kind of annoying scanning three chicago sports stations and having trouble finding anyone chatting about sox picks. All about whether cubs strategy was worth it.
  17. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 03:37 AM) I don't understand why the question marks aren't coachable.
  18. On csn right now, says white sox select Carlos Rondon. s*** won't go away anytime soon.
  19. Good. Frankly Jay will miss some time. Let's make sure our backup was best of a bunch of players.
  20. This is the kind of thing that will ruin my summer.
  21. For the record I'm rooting of Nola to be awesome to still believe our drafting has turned around.
  22. He just said Safe Pick. WE SHOULD'VE went for an ace!!!
