  2. Edit: that was sharron angle, who beat sue lowden. double edit: THE QUOTE WAS ANGLE
  3. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) Sounds like a perfectly good argument for stopping this bloody deep oil drilling completely. And we seriously need to look past the President and BP's fault in this. We really need to look at ourselves. Who started using more public transit? Who started making and keeping more efficient residences? Who stopped buying fruits and vegetables from thousands of miles away? Nobody. I think we play this blame game to help us dismiss the fact that BP is really only providing a service that so many selfish individuals demand. We blame to cover up our own guilt. "It's those evil executives and politicians to blame! How could they do this!?!?! I'm so much better than them!" AMEN X ∞
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) I'm not a scientist or an engineer, so I'm not sure what specific things he can/should do. But unless you're suggesting that he's no longer needed, there's SOMETHING he could be doing, like speaking to BP about his (our) concerns for longer than 20 minutes. And enforcing existing regulation would have prevented this thing from happening as well. Again, why would words on a piece of paper mean jack to a company that clearly skirted the rules and were allowed to because that oh-so-efficient government can't/won't/didn't do its job? Sweet. From now on these wells have to have a redundant blowout preventer. Hell, mandate they have 10 of them. That still requires the company to install it and the government to make sure that it gets installed. IMO there's an equal chance that this type of thing happens again because a blowout preventer fails and because a company gets greedy, works on the cheap, and the gov't fails to catch them. so we should nationalize all energy companies. Excellent.
  5. well then why give a f***? More regulation may get worthless but only after the regulated companies get good enough at buying an entire agency or enough people are put there specifically to get bought, but at least it has potential to fix the problem, as opposed to relying on BP to give a s***, which has proven to not work. If you want to feel less helpless, stop using so many plastic bags and find other ways to get around beside car. "Catastrophes" like this are only going to get more likely as oil gets harder to find. This is the consequence for our lifestyle.
  6. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) We did hire a President with significant underwater experience in 1976 you know. and in the gulf spill in 79 it took him 10 months.
  7. Well, now we at least know we need to hire an engineer to be president with deep experience in under water stopography.

ugh, i hate when people are in on their own joke of a life.
  9. Guys, environmentalists don't actually care about the environment. That's why they can sabotage an entire eco-system just because they REALLY just hate oil and coal companies. It's pretty brillz. As brillz as kap.

it's pretty shocking that a women could find work as an actress looking like that! What are these producers thinking! I'll have them know I will not spend my money on a women who is not entirely attractive. This is an outrage!
  11. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 01:31 AM) Beebe's dumbass said that the Big 12 won't be expanding teams. Basically we have a group of teams that doesn't want to be together, has no TV contract set in stone, and only has one teams interest at heart. There's no chance this conference will be around past 2 years. The ONLY reason the league was saved is because UT got everything they wanted. If the Pac 10 offers Texas Tech or the Big 10 offers Mizzou, it's over. Well, the purported bump in money is still substantial.

Best Coast's full-length can be pre-ordered starting today.
  13. I'd love love love memphis for basketball entered into the Big 12. But yeah, Big 12 once again makes a pact that won't last. It's not gonna be around past this decade.

No, I did all of that. I reported it last friday, they sent me a new one on saturday, and now it's late again. And I'm not in the f***ing boondocks. The best I can think of is the mail is having trouble with our mailbox? BUT I AM STILL GETTING MAIL! It's so annoying. They said if it doesn't come tomorrow I get another 20 days for free.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Takes me about 2 days for each movie. I'll send it back on MOnday, they get it on Tuesday and send my next one out on Tues, I get next one Wed. It's taken me 9 days.
  16. pretty much. But that's what happens when you have a market that completely dominates the rest. However, we made out pretty money-wise. But, in 5 years I expect the big 12 to be gone again. This isn't a solid relationship. However, losing Nebraska and CU for basketball, good riddance. For football 1/2.

  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) That sounds like a boy who dumped his girlfriend to see other people, but no one wanted to see him, so he went crawling back. If the girlfriend was initially paying you less than your proposed girlfriends were, and then your girlfriend said that now you could get 15 million a year.
  20. Regarding Missouri, the most nail-on-head comment i've seen: "Yes, Mizzou has two great tv markets, a rising football reputation, and a solid academic record but if it wants to move it requires a buyer, and from what little credible evidence we have, there appears to be no better buyer than the B12."
  21. sure...but i think if this wasn't a Mexican (literally) we are talking about there would be outrage about killing a teenager. But, lucky for everyone he was just a Mexican and we'll soon see the statement that the officer acted correctly considering he felt threatened. And the rest of us can continue to hypothesize how much a sixty lb. rock would hurt if whipped by a sixteen year old.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 06:46 PM) The statements being thrown around in here from the extremes are pretty absurd. Its not possible to really know if this was justified or not, with what little information we have. The attitudes towards both law enforcement AND the teenager are pretty crass. Yeah, well, one is dead.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) I'd like to know how many people recall their parents being drunk when they were kids, because I'm very sure you dont understand being drunk until you are alot older anyway. I dont think the "role model" stuff applies to a guy drinking 3 beers at a parade. Oversensitivity is a little widespread here IMO. There have been several hockey teams, baseball teams etc that have had drinks while on TV and in front of people several times after winning a championship, its part of the world, people drink. And frankly, there is a difference in not only operation, but perception of athletes and the sports teams and regular businesses. Most businesses don't have a citywide celebration when they close an account, and start spraying champaigne everywhere. They are more like musicians on a record label. As long as it doesn't hurt their productivity, I haven't heard of a record label being pissed about a band being drunk on stage.
  24. I still don't think Texas is in control. I think they will be the last to move. They won't be in bad shape because they will make SOMEONE a lot of money, but for them, the big 12 is the best option because they control everyone. If the big 12 stays together it's because texas wanted to stay and they organized a new TV deal. But if it doesn't stay together it's not because texas wanted to leave, it's probably because A&M or someone else jumps ship because they are tired of 1 team controlling the organization. The Big 12 was built on sand. This isn't that suprising.
