  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) Fixed for ya. He's pretty much perfect for the team's needs right now. see, you took the opportunity to compliment thome, whereas I was using it to criticize KW/ozzie. I like thome and want him on the team.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) Just sign him back already, he even wants to come back. Come on Kenny... I don't understand what the problem is, he's old, past his prime, and not a full-time player at this point in his career. He totally fits the mold of a white sox free agent this offseason.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) Here is the link to the Chudzinski interview: ESPN Chicago Cool, thanks for the link.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 06:21 PM) In my view, anything that intentionally segregates or collects or admits people based on race, is racism. Again, I am not saying that makes it evil or bad necessarily - but that is what it is. Just my view though. I find this ridiculous.
  5. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/01...are.php?ref=fpa f*** you too, Obama.
  6. disagree. Until congress decides to participate in governing, I will not participate in electing them.
  7. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 07:33 PM) Or perhaps young people are generally ignorant morons who get the government they deserve. Yes, the over 50 crowd's nihilism is really showing their worth. They look at their shadow and think its a muslim.
  8. perhaps it's because they sell out everyone under 30 when they govern.
  9. just wrote to inform all related congressman, senators, majority leaders, and the speaker of the house to let them know I'm no longer voting in 2010. May they have as difficult of time finding a job as the rest of us.
  10. QUOTE (dadwassoxfan @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 05:29 PM) I think that Kenny thinks we have enough right now to win the Division with our current DH combo. and that's truly pathetic.
  11. i can't stand being the same age as awesome accomplished athletes. fugh
  12. well, go ahead and ask sen.-elect brown how many it killed in massachussetts since he was so supportive of it.
  13. so you don't believe them that they can improve? I don't think you should be making the decisions then. For instance, here is an article on Chicago's version, Urban Prep (again, high success) http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2009/o...tudents-chicago The point of these isn't "we can't get along with white people so we need our own school!", it's about getting these kids to succeed, and they are.
  14. I don't know how many jobs it will save but I think I can put a number on lives.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 06:38 AM) I actually get both Esquire and GQ. I think they are extremely similar, in terms of presentation, content, viewpoint, etc. In fact, unless I am looking at the cover, I can't really tell which of the two I am reading at the time I am sitting on the crapper. I enjoy GQ very much as well, however, because they are kind of an international brand, i can't log on into it from Brazil. BUT, I still think that Esquires featured content: fiction and interviews, top GQ, however, GQs regular writers are probably more entertaining. For instance, the dude that writes about job and interviewing etiquette. I learned a lot.
  16. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) This has some good information on it.. : http://pakalert.wordpress.com/2009/06/18/c...e-a-revolution/ Well duh. I don't think anyone is saying the US isn't doing ANYTHING to try and keep this moving, however, this at-best-revolution but at worst serious recrimination of the ayatollah's regime, was not created by the CIA and will not be finished by the CIA.
  17. In reply to whoever, that all-black charter school really isn't rooted in racism. Programs trying to reach out to high-risk black youths have tried all lots of different ways to educate them. In Harlem, an all-black charter school (and it was also targeted ONLY at males, no females) found tremendous success. The theory is that the way we teach in schools creates a huge cultural divide for these specific students. Consider many of their situations: besides many in single parent, low-income homes which are well documented, many of these kids have poor diet and hyperactivity, and when they get to school they are needed to sit in a desk for hours listening to someone talk that they don't identify with. They had black males from the community come in and teach, and in a setting of their peers there was less self-consciousness and also less acting out as a way to hide that. In Columbia, Mo. a community organizer was trying to put together a school like this for the high-risk black males there, specifically for those who had dropped out, and after looking at all of it I fully supported it. I think outside-the-box ideas like this should be embraced and implemented where practical.
  18. It's important to remember that right now one of the best things the U.S. can do is to stay out of Iran. If we try and mettle the regime will claim the "Great Satan" is out to get Iran and the people will unify against a foreign enemy (at least, it will take the focus off of the unrest at home). We really need to let this play out and one of the best ways to foster this movement is to stay out.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 04:41 AM) The CIA really has f***ed around a lot in Iran though. A good 99% of me though thinks that of the things the CIA can f*** around with in Iran, manifesting civil protestations and popular upheaval isn't one of them. Coups? Sure...but this is far too democratic for the CIA.
  20. And I really don't even think it's close. Best fiction Best interviews Best drink database Clean presentation I love this magazine. I have a backlog of them for when I get home. But I read them now online, and their web site is fantastic, as well. Yep.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 01:48 AM) Can we all agree at least that Tim Tebow is a giant tool, regardless of this issue? Jorts are inexcusable.
  22. free speech is about government, so unless the FCC says that they cannot put this add on, it has nothing to do with free speech.
  23. The sox have had an incredibly healthy pitching staff for years now. Yes, danks missed some time, but i think most teams would give their left ... to have the short term injuries the white sox had. Didn't anyone tear a rotator cuff? Need TJ? The mets are jealous.
  24. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) To someone facing the same choice as the Tebow's faced, and my heart goes out to them, there is some value in the message. Perhaps seeing what other women (perhaps couples) have gone through may be of some help and assistance. I'm surprised Soxy does not see any value in examples, both pro and con. Seeing others that have been through the same thing someone is facing can be wonderful support. I thought that is one basis for group therapy, but I may have been sleeping that day in class. Do you think someone with ALS might look towards Lou Gehrig for some inspiration? Someone with a terminal disease reading about Brian Piccolo or Walter Payton. From cancer survivors to weight loss champions, there is value in that. If the debate raises awareness regarding birth control and unwanted pregnancy, it has served a useful purpose. I have no words for those that believe abortion is a reasonable form of birth control. I do not believe someone should have to give up their rights of free speech because they are famous. Who are you to tell someone who to vote for? Who are you to share your opinion on a message board? Who are you to speak about anything? You are a human being and you should have that right. Just as we have the right to ignore you. Tim Tebow is someone who has an opinion and by stating his opinion, he can make a much bigger difference, good and bad, than other people. I believe he should be careful in how he uses that power, as I would say to anyone else. Who are the athletes that advocate for staying in school, not smoking or doing drugs. Isn't that a personal choice? I can't believe this ad gets people more upset than all the violence towards women on TV and in video games. Urging a woman to choose life over death -- Bad. Killing or raping a few women for hours in a video game? Cool And it's not like he's a random spokesperson. What a shame that so many toss away our right to free speech so easily. free speech has nothing to do with what a private company decides to air on the most watched tv program of the year.
  25. QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 11:18 PM) those dogs are actually pretty good THANK YOU! I love 7-11 hot dogs and taquitos. 7-11's are awesome, I seriously missed them when I lived in Missouri, and currently, I guess.
