The answer to this is if Kevin Durant wants to go to Chicago it will happen, because the brooklyn nets will want a super star in the future and they will not want to be the first team that prevents him. But yeah. Salary wise it works. The Bulls then are severely limited in draft picks, and essentially would be able to trade the portland pick (not very valuable) and then would need to send off picks in 2027, 2029, etc.

logistically, these seems insane. I wonder if divisions grow so large and we just see every big market state school become Big 10 or SEC, but there are 3-4 divisions each, and those conference championships may as well be the playoffs.

That said I remember going in thinking we'd be in on ball, but I don't really remember thinking bulls would go after derozan or even caruso until it happened. They had more options last year though, but they are mostly trades. And it still seems like bulls gossip comes from everywhere else aside from the bulls.

Hartenstein is the obvious best option. Sad to see Bulls avoiding tax...they committed to tax with lavine imo. Gallinari is fine as a second unit player, would be a good pickup.

It's tough, it undercuts how good thome was in 2006. Thome was on base 42% of the time and had a 1.000 OPS. It was incredible. Fangraphs put him at 5 WAR. Frank was great in 2006 with power, but not so good. But it basically comes down to health for Rowand, he only played 109 games that year and was nowhere near his defensive prowess in chicago. Anderson was giving us better defense than Rowand had that year, and him and Mackowiak were still positive contributors. So Thome + that crew are very likely >> Thomas + Rowand. The real key would have been if we could have somehow traded for Thome without Rowand.

The arguments against this are basically summarized as "it's unlikely to be a huge error, so it's not a big deal". The problem is it's another dumb mistake that showcases the incoherent operation Hahn is running. Is it going to end the white sox or lenyn sosa as we know it? Likely not. But if I was Rick Hahn, next to my 3 graduate degrees I'd hang up a white board that says "Days since last terrible decision" and I would really try to get a really big number up there. Then I'd graduate up a level to "consecutive days with a good decision". Because it's not just about preventing bad decisions, though that would be great. I think Hahn should really try to make good decisions. And maybe, after another 10 years on the job, Hahn can get to some great decisions.

They are trying to poach how to build organizational approaches, sox don't believe in that. They let coach dudes do their own coach stuff, and if they are nice they get a job for life.

I mean I think sometimes hitting coaches get blamed for slumps. But I think the sox are largely executing menechinos style, but that style makes our slumps horrible because it makes scoring runs rely on 4 + hits in an inning, and sees a bunch of GIDPs and FC ruining runners in scoring position. If we were a power thirsty team and slumped it sucks but eventually we'll score in bunches. We've been getting games with lotsa hits and 4-5 runs.

Instead they had lots of power, or moderate power, too many Ks. For a lot, but not all. Now they are all high contact, high groundball, power diminished. Teamwide. Also didn't someone pull up the Marlins GB% under Menechino? I am sorry I stole it from you but it stuck in my mind indelibly. The Marlins were 1st in GB% every single year he was their hitting coach. 5 years! They were 27th in hard hit percentage in 2017 the year Stanton had like 58 home runs. This looks exactly like a Menechino team.
