  1. All of this years disappointing teams have now made their run (Red Sox, braves, mariners) Sox…I have me doubts.

Burke really hit some friction in AA eh
  3. Never thought I could dislike a Sox team more than 2015 but this one has arrived.
  4. If I was a Nats fan I’d probably laugh at sox thinking they would have enough…maybe if they pre emotively trade Giolito in a 3 team. Few teams would have the fire power. Maybe I’d want Red Sox (Mayer headliner) or Cards (Gorman/Walker or Liberatore). The white Sox would never seriously go after premiere talent, But yes you should do everything to get guys like this when available. Just like they should have for Betts.

Veras 0-5 with 5Ks yesterday. Really want to see if Sox can harness this power. Not holding my breath.

Laumann. I agree, esp with Bellingers fall it’s hard to put anyone beside Bryant above him (even though TA >> Bryant currently)

The 2016 draft was an unbelievable disaster. One of the most decorated drafts of the decade, where the Sox had an extra million to spend, and it was a gigantic whiff. Im tired of comparing the Sox against themselves to show competence. He modernized scouting? That’s the job to make sure your dept is competitive. But modernizing should lead to good drafts. Laumann - consistently in worse draft positions and in a terrible JR bind until the hard draft budget CBA - drafted the second best player in 2013 draft, Semien in 2011 in the sixth, and Sale in 2010. In his high draft position year, he drafted Rodon, a top 6 cy young finisher in a competitive year for the Sox. In Hostetlers years he drafted 10th, 11th, 4th, 3rd. Incredibly important drafts for the Sox and he converted…one? Hard to see how his hard work was more impressive than the guy before or after him, even with all of the major league 0 war guys that save Hahn from signing a hostetler chosen major league FA for $5 million who will provide negative war value.

    I’d say 98% hostetler
  9. Just what we expected when the year started, fighting with Baltimore for 4th place in wild card race
  10. bmags replied to BamaDoc's topic in FutureSox Board
Man hostetler was such a disaster

    HR # 13 for Veras
  16. I also believe this.

Maybe, but they've moved guys mid-year before even when it did not get them lots of ACL playing time. I'm not very high on our DSL complex/leagues doing much developing.

I'd like for sox to move Godwin Bennett stateside. He probably won't make enough contact, but his HR% is very high
  19. I did not remember he was on roster and immediately thought david montgomery so with that emotional roller coaster behind me, seems fine.
  20. If the rays want sosa and Hahn thinks he’s expendable, you keep Sosa
  21. Not sure I buy that.
  22. If I had to guess the offensive help Rick Hahn will go after it would be: Nelson Cruz - budget doesn't matter when they are a DH. He has heard of Nelson Cruz but couldn't fit him in budget before, but now he's only $7 mill for rest of season. Sure, he's 42 and in his worse season ever, but that just means he's a budget bin, not that he's washed. 50% groundball rate perfect for team. Christian Walker - Career Year, positional liability, "multiple years of control", Right handed, will point to Home Run Total Avisail Garcia - "multiple years of control", I sorted 2022 leaders by groundball rate and he was 4th - perfect for Menechino, Down year means he should be cheap, solves "RF issue", Hustles, possible clubhouse cancer a positive Miguel Cabrera - "Legend, have been trying to get him for a long time", positional liability, 52% groundball rate, Right handed, "Hitting .300"
  23. The long process of re-doing the 2018 draft
  24. I'm with Jack though. I don't want to give up Montgomery for a top pitcher. Not saying he is good enough for the trade, but if a situation like last year arises and a trea turner type becomes available, you go for it because top position players are awesome and hard to get. But 'top pitcher on struggling team' is what I'd go after if we were comfortably in first. Honestly the Braves moves at the deadline make sense even if I don't think it would replicate near the success, but it allowed them to still go for it while not costing much of anything.
