  1. Do we think sox score >4 runs in either game today? I say no.

Elijah Tatis showed his face again. And Quezada, man. 2 more Ks, but two more hits.
  3. Don’t worry just saving the bullpen for the offseason

Loidell's line ended up even better. 3-4 with the homer, but also a walk and 0 Ks.

still some knock-on effects from the weird covid years. But the other is you have people like Neslony crushing AA, but sox clearly don't see him as actual org depth. I think the real answer is Ellis just isn't really anyone to concern ourselves with, but I'd prefer he be tried in AA vs. Neslony. And obviously, Colas needs space too.
  6. This makes a lot of sense. So it seems like at best you can continue to use it to grab an extra 2nd/3rd here and there.
  7. yeah there is zero chance, and if I was the Nats and the best offer were from the white sox I would just hold. I do think if the sox ever pay a monster contract it will be because they are re-signed, not on FA where they don't believe players are allowed to set their own value. But if I was the sox I would explore trading Giolito and packaging up the returns + Colson, Vera for Soto.

Arnold Prado hit a homer too. 17 Y.O. Hasn't played much so far but in just 11 ABs has had two XBH. That's power that matches his physique of 6'3 200lbs (obviously that is still string bean but for a 17 y.o. that's not bad). Remember power is pretty muted in DSL, so this will be interesting to watch.

bummer you beat me to it.
  10. Disagree here. Market really is constrained for trades a bit. Who could use Juan Soto? Everyone. Who is in position to benefit from paying for him for the next 2 years? Fewer, the Royals / As are, for example, not likely to trade out for him. So you'd narrow it down a bit. The Orioles could trump everyone with with Henderson/Rodriguez...just really hard to believe. I'd say teams that would seriously check-in would be: Padres Rays Red Sox Yankees Cardinals Brewers Twins Tigers Mets Phillies Mariners Dodgers Giants Rangers Braves Jays Cubs Astros White Sox Of that list, I'd say teams that feel out there would be Cubs. Twins unlikely to lock him up (have buxton), Cubs too far from competition. Seems extremely unlikely Nats would trade within their division, so out go Mets/Braves/Phils/Marlins, among other reasons. Orioles could easily get Soto but it's really hard to imagine them doing that so I left them out. So That leaves us with: Padres Red Sox Yankees Cardinals Brewers Twins Tigers Mariners Dodgers Giants Jays Astros White Sox Now, this is where we say "no way padres can afford x". And it seems extremely true, but...they may also get most value out of soto during just his contract remainder, and maybe make that work. Also have a huge need for a Soto. So my top contender: Cardinals (6 in the top 100, budget to flex, division ready for the taking) Next group: Red Sox, Padres, Dodgers, Red sox use Marcelo Mayer/Bello. Padres can dangle Abrams/Hassel. Dodgers have seven effing top 100 guys. Giants Maybe luciano/harrison gets it done, and brings Giants the superstar they've lacked. Have the talent, questionable fit: Yankees Rays Tigers - obviously putting Greene forward gets you in the convo. Hard to believe though. I say no chance. Jays - having the top guy being a catcher hurts...also just why Not a lot of talent to offer, but would be interested White Sox, Astros, Mariners, Brewers so I'd put sox at like a decent top 8. Definitely need a 3rd team to make it work though.
  11. See that isn't that impressive a return to me. Buying an entire first with it would have been a little more notable.

Rays have one of the best performing farms in terms of winning percentage, so I agree.
  13. Can't beat a dead horse enough that if we can't effectively wield our additional budget room against our division, we have to find more ways to level the playing field in PD and talent acquisition. DET/MN/KC/CLE all get more draft picks/more intl budget than us. We need to look for things like this that allow us to trade out borderline 40 guys for potential higher upside picks / bigger room in the draft.
  14. sure would love if we had ATL's ownership/FO.
  15. I have to say this is really nice. When was the last draft pick that was actually a riser? Collins sniffed the top 100. Rodon/Madrigal/Vaughn just kinda maintained their draft value placement. Fulmer fell. Guys like Semien broke into that back 20 and that's where a lot have sat. This feels completely foreign.
  16. didn't see the first game, saw yesterday...yeah I'm skeptical lol
  17. I have enjoyed lurking. Always fascinating to see how teams try to build winners, so more fun to follow after changes in f.o. Won't have much to say because I kinda faded on hockey after realizing (much like soccer) I did not really know how to tell which players were good or bad (mainly defensively, easy to tell with points etc). After what hawks fans went through last year, going back to just being a really, really bad team is probably easier to take. I've been a bit surprised how little the returns have been, and what kind of returns they targeted. How much value can you really get by using your cap space to grab bad contracts in hockey? Basketball always seems like it's not worth much (stealing 2nd round picks like 76ers did a lot), and baseball never seemed to get you as much as you expected (mid-level prospects). Is it more effective in nhl?
  18. Showalter and Baker continuing to get a lot, if not all, out of the talented teams they take over shows their is a talent to managing. Same with Tito. TLR showing everyone that the Cards are a really good org (that benefits from the league feeding them extra talent every year)
  19. I really like getting that Exit velocity data. I think a concern was even though he was walking early on, his hits didn't have that pop that Kath's did. But that has started to change, and I think his power is still sneaky just because of his body type and levers. So we have this plus a very positive review from law on Colson's defense. Exit velo and defense is one of the harder stuff to gauge as fans in this forum so I'm pretty happy.
  20. pro Snelling. Given sox recent FO plays, hard to believe they'd draft a medical shoulder. Man I really like Chase DeLauter but seems unlikely to get to sox. Keep going LH power, especially since it feels like he barely has to swing for power.
  21. The best manager arrangements now are an alignment between following PD and analytics / strategy from FO and a manager strong at relationships with players and tactics. But because Sox are so bad at the former they’ll need to keep swinging for the dying breed of superstar managers. Sox really are stuck without a clean FO reset, and considering who would be hiring that, there is really not much we can hope for.
  22. Remember when Eaton was traded and a board insider alluded to it being part of a locker room reset then the Sox resigned Eaton because they believed the locker room needed more fire, and then they dfa’d him a few months into the season because he actually does suck and also can’t hit. Also remember when the managers kids were openly airing out locker room gossip and the Sox just let it ride for months/years until the manager basically quit. So weird we are having locker room issues again.
  23. Such a weird coincidence Hahn keeps finding shitty locker rooms under him.
  24. TLR clubhouses always have cliques.
