It’s a weird feeling but for first time since the kw honeymoon phase I just feel like Sox got this.

Internal Hitting Options (Split from Escobar thread)
I saw a DP turn that, while successful, looked really rough.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Zeynep on lab leak. Hard to read this and think even if it didn’t move through a lab that this research (GoF and others) should not be under stricter scrutiny and regulation. Perhaps we should just trust the experts though! https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/25/opinion/coronavirus-lab.html#click=https://t.co/H3p5fS0Cep

I don’t even think there is consensus on a profile though prep infielder probably wins a poll.

2021 MLB Draft Thread
My pet theory is that high school prospects are going to be cheaper this year, and college players do way better.

Good for him. It took until yesterday for me to realize “huh I guess no AZL/DSL this year”. Hadn’t realized we were into June. Maybe AZL starts post draft?

Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
There is still plenty of time for this to be ok. Fortunately we banked a great first half. If Eaton is strong in second half it’s gravy.

I mean no, because I lived through the last year where a pandemic ravaged the world and am aware of how vaccines work.

Hahn: Too early to know if Sox will be buyers
I find providing cost on mid tier guys on trades hard but I feel like sheets is similar to Ryan Cordell who better Soria. I think he should be able to get us a good RHP reliever but yea a .5-1.5 year guy. Hard to look for those guys honestly. Weird year so far. I sorta like that Colorado set up guy.

Hahn: Too early to know if Sox will be buyers
I don’t think showcases are the point of the Sox anymore. I expect Sheets will be dealt for a reliever.

NFL 2021 offseason thread
I agree. I don’t understand the people that act like soldier field is “in the city”. He experience between the baseball stadiums and United center…and soldier field is vast. And honestly that’s fine. Football being 8 weekends a month make it a day event that’s not integrated into our daily lives like going to a game post work and grabbing a beer before. But everything with soldier field is half measure. It’s in the city, but it’s not a city stadium. It’s got great park space around it, but you can’t use it for tailgating. It has a nice interior, but a hideous exterior. It’s crowdflow is also horrendous. It has picturesque views…but only if you are in a helicopter. Just go full bore. That stadium is a fine exhibition stadium and concert venue. Horrendous football experience.
