  1. How did it happen in 94, were they in between deals?
  2. So just to recap, you stated that Bauer's expertise is overblown and every pitcher uses tech. It was pointed out that a lot of that tech used in major league pitching programs was introduced by Bauer and Boddy's work and that's why he gets credit. And now you are saying that's a different argument than what? If every pitcher invented a new tool to use to help train how to pitch at an elite level, then yes, it wouldn't be that impressive that Bauer did it.
  3. A lot of pitchers are using the tech they are using now because their teams bought tech after Bauer and Kyle Boddy's work with introducing tech from golf and biology and a bunch of other places. So no, they may not think they are using tech because of bauer, but their teams bought that tech because of him.
  4. Yes Bauer is a jerk. But that doesn't mean his impact on pitching isn't real. Two things can be true, and just because you don't like him doesn't mean that impact needs to be marginalized.
  5. He was, I didn't say he invented it, but in 2012 when Bauer was doing it it was considered controversial. then you had the entire cubs backfield doing it. Were the cubs doing it because of Nolan Ryan? No.
  6. Pitchers have indeed used the tools that were provided to them. That is not what Bauer did. Yes, when you try to take a view from nowhere view that Giolito "changed his delivery", indeed pitchers have done that. But Giolito did that dramatically over the course of one offseason was the big change, and the use of the core velocity belt is now much more widespread. Bauer helped decentralize the pitching knowledge and gave more power to the players to tinker. You are being obtuse about his impact on the last half-decade.
  7. Boras is not his agent, he is repped by Rachel Luba.
  8. Did you decline Leury's option?
  9. This is Bauer version I imagine my Calhoun trade is a fan-trade but I wasn't really sure. I gave up Pilkington and Adolfo. Dbacks seemed to be hoarding cash so taking on the 8 mill seemed like a decent play.
  10. Poor kids. I wonder what Japan pays someone like this. It looks like Colas only got 140k to go to Japan and he was older. I wonder if 100-200k get him over. Just awful circumstances for him.
  11. Well I have no idea. In my head it seems unlikely there are teams with a lot of budget left in the 2020-21 period, but who knows, or if there is any space to trade for this period.
  12. Well who knows how it will shake-out as his intro is pretty late into a largely accounted for period. Maybe they could get one of Colas/Cespedes + Pino or are seeing if they can. The article didn't have us as the front-runner.
  13. We're running out of players whose "fault" it is that Nagy's offense is terrible "It's Jordan Howard's fault" "It's Mitch's fault" "It's trey burton's fault" "It's david montgomery's fault" "It's Foles' fault" Whatever Nagy thinks an nfl offense should be like, he needs to realize he doesn't have the talent to run it or his own talent to coach it, and hand it off to someone who on gameday can keep better track of player usage and isn't so obsessed with trying to fool the DC into not doing what they expect so we run what they'd prefer. Nagy coaching basketball down 3 with 4 seconds left "Ha Ha! They suspect we will shoot the 3 pointer, let's shoot the mid-range!"
  14. Come on man, give the man his due. Bauer found edgertronic cameras which were used for biology at the time. Driveline would be nothing without him. Simple stuff now like long toss was pretty controversial before him. Who knows if Giolito would have been as free to experiment in remaking his entire motion without what bauer's tinkering had proven. And also his 2018 was also very good.
  15. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1S_GkRq9r-NZaYnyAKsUfEFEg0Lm3BGzF1B5qUVxa-iY/edit?usp=sharing It's baaaaack. Go to sheets, copy and save under your own name. Notes: - Salary estimates were really hard this year, I highly recommend picking your own. For same reason I didn't even bother with years so it just adds your AAV. SP especially, not sure if those avg guys still get 10 mill this year. - Didn't have good trades to pre-set, so it's up to you - Last year someone told me a good number to put the pre-arb folks under, I kept that but not sure if it is much higher this year? - The arb estimates from MLBTR this year were weird because they had 3 models, I went with the first, but it seemed pretty low.
  16. I mean when Mike Davis goes to Carolina and looks like a pro bowler after looking worse than Montgomery I think it’s fair to say this is a coaching / line issue. No rushing attack should be this bad, bad running back or not.
  17. My favorite part about the bears offensive line is they are both bad and extreeeemely dumb.
  18. A lot of those teams will have severe salary decisions and that's where I'm questioning how much exactly are we worried about McCann making?
  19. It was a pretty weird signal because it's both "i'd like to manage again" but also he has health issues and seemed like this year may not be the best fit.
  20. Gotta tell ya - I think looking at catcher position for the offseason is a good realization for how tough this offseason is going to be. Who are the prime candidates for Realmuto? He could re-sign with Philly...then Mets? Toronto? And who knows if either are in a position to really chase a position like that. Then cleveland, toronto are possible destinations. The biggest shake-up could be if Yadi retires, and cards go after a McCann. And then you have a scenario of the cubs dangling contreras, which they've promised big changes and could go back to that well with him as he seems to frustrate them. There aren't that many teams that seem like they'd prioritize catcher with budget given all the injuries to pitchers last year. It's going to be interesting to see this shake out.
  21. I don't see it being easy to trade Grandal. Maybe the loser to a Realmuto sweepstakes, where you trade to a Mets or Phillies. You will need a team with a real need at catcher since teams may view that salary as a luxury at catcher.
  22. However, I assume our pitching staff is basically 2 people that they'd care about so really the question is how much Keuchel also disliked him as a C.
  23. Why should we care so much about home runs?
  24. glad I can read a focused Bauer Blog now.
  25. That steal of home last night was fun, shame it didn't work. Had the runner on first deaked I think kershaw gets just enough confused he gets home.
