Luis Rodriguez (19 y.o) having a strong start in DSL. 16ks in 13 IP, 3 BBs. Last year he did have nearly a 9 k/ip rate but also was like 4.5 BB/IP. 23% walk rate isn't amazing but interesting nonetheless.
  2. Likely means there is an injury which sucks for all involved.
  3. Gonna be a 4.5 hour game, fun for the fans into that sorta thing. Now that I said this, it's going to be a 1-0 game over in 2 hours.
  4. Continue freak out.
  5. you beat me to punch ?
  6. http://www.milb.com/documents/9/7/0/308065970/2019_Voyagers_Official_Roster.pdf My takeaways: - Some jumps I didn't expect. Kleydar Sanchez barely played in AZL last year and did not hit, but he's up there. Sam Abbot was moved up. - There is a lot of fun in the position players: Last years HS crop Delgado, Maldonado and Weaver are moving up a level (Weaver performed best). Quintero, Mieses and Comas from '17 and '16 classes performed decent last year and should be fun to watch. Cam Simmons is someone I think will be a lot of fun in short season ball. I'm a little surprised Osik isn't on Great Falls - This pitching staff is full of seniors and 5th year seniors. It may be pretty good statistically. Ramon Pineda and Brayan Herrerra from 2016 intl class movin on up. Herrera does not K a lot, but he's got good control. He's 21 though so his stuff may be not good. Pineda is Michael's brother and was pretty terrible last year.
  7. https://www.milb.com/great-falls/news/white-sox-release-voyagers-opening-day-roster/c-308065266?tcid=tw_article_308065266 So a lot of these we already knew. But I think these are new: - Cam Simmons (UVA) is on here, so signed - Joshua Rivera (chipola jc) - Solesky (tulane) - Kaleb Roper (tulane) - Connor Reich (Texas State) Jason Morgan is on there...is he a UDFA?
  8. All managers should be placeholder managers.
  9. nope, cease at 51 is the last sox guy.
  10. I think this is college pitching rearing its head again as they are typically more advanced, in addition to fangraphs offseason shift in downgrading pitching in general. I think we will see a decent amount of action from the 10-30 players but they need to prove it.
  11. They should erase the votes after the "primary"
  12. Witt signed yesterday, so hoping Vaughn gets wrapped up soon.
  13. Ugh my goodness.
  14. every St. Louis tweet is some bizarre, mundane fact that ties in the cardinals and just blows them away.

What’s the record since Madrigal has been there? The guy just wins. He reminds me of Nellie fox.

Send Madrigal back down to birmingham
  18. How does one Eric Zorn a sox fan

Yes it's going to be a different kind of year, but there will still be Walker, Basabe, Gonzalez, and Sheets/Rutherford, and then the kanny group of Bush/Sosa. Beyond that, we'll have the new blood of Thompson/Drew, Beard, Gladney, the PR kids, though likely all in short season ball. And perhaps we have that Cuban signee in J2. Probably a bottom 3rd system at that point, however, the majors will be fun again.

Obviously Robert is a human and should be able to eat whatever he wants, but this is more about how there have been articles players struggles to get either familiar or good food while playing in rural carolinas or alabama. Like, you have so much riding on these guys, why not ask your affiliates if you could fund a caterer for the clubhouse for home games?
  23. bmags replied to soxfan49's topic in FutureSox Board
At soxfest I asked getz why they can't just pay for catering for the minors and he said it was part of the minor league experience but they were looking into it (i.e. they were not looking into it)

It looks like a lot of breadsticks and perhaps those chicken things where they smother them in cheese.

I don't know if anyone else is reading this, but the piece on k-vests made me want to buy one for madrigal right away.
