No, in general PG has been a pretty easy position for teams to fill (bulls were good at this getting decent production for years from players like mike james/dj augustin/nate robinson). I think the league should stop messing around so much with 'gameplay" stuff and figure out ways to make pitchers less effective. Either by speeding up time between pitches, lowering mound, whatever, it would add action (more plays/contact) even if it doesn't cut time. I think we could also see that smooth out the aging curve. My hunch is that eventually the added average velocity hit a level that made veterans that could have at least been league average in years past become unplayable due to lower bat speed. Would this see a return of things like the running game in the 80s? Maybe not, but I think the league is too scared due to the relationship with numbers to "change" the game artificially in the way that other leagues don't care about.

I'm interested to see Lock as a pro. He was able to put up gaudy numbers due to some offenses he was in, but also had to deal with constant OC turnover. He could be creative and fearless but also had stretches of complete inaccuracy over the middle, but he showed improvement. There was a time where it was clear he couldn't hit any crossing routes and could basically only hit stopped receivers or streaking ones. And then if he goes to Denver it's nice having Scangerello now but you have to hope Vic can keep filling up that pipeline.

I don't think it's anything like this, Bush just happened to be one of many underscouted northern prospects that sometimes slip through the cracks. Had he lived in Florida like Cabera Weaver and Lency Delgado you would have likely seen him drafted in top 11 rounds. Northern prospects have a big question mark, I remember people down on Adell because his like 12 at bats against top competition weren't great...whoops he's likely the best draft pick in the 17 group and showed it immediately. But Caulfields point was more likely that he'd rather be going toward high school position players, because I'm not sure there is much of a difference in profiles between Delgado, Weaver, Maldanado and Bush except one produced off the bat, but we can see how valuable even one in four is. The 80-90% college picks is hard to justify, especially when we have such a large scouting staff. Especially, as people have been saying, these 2nd round college bats. It's a missed opportunity when you can try to nab these very athletic HS who have potential to blossom into elite players vs the second rounders who are often much less athletic and limited, have great bats but may very well be at their ceiling.

We paid more for Samardjiza. Reds have more depth than sox had in 2015-16, though their rotation can't handle much in terms of injuries. But their farm is much deeper than ours to get depth pieces in season.

That's because people are relying on scouting info + performance whereas this guy just performed out of nowhere and scouts are catching up. I hope he does well.

That makes things interesting though. I like Law for hitters, don't like him for pitchers at all. I like BA for international guys, but they overrate college pitchers like, insanely. I like fangraphs for both, but mainly because they do the best job at explaining their thought process and aren't too dogmatic. Pipeline seems to have a lot of grade inflation to me and it always feels like they are just following the herd a lot. BP, it's there but I don't thinkt hey have the manpower to scout that the others do.
