Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
This too...why not wait until you know you have the interim DiDi spot?

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
That’s not what I meant. It’s that he could sign anywhere (and it may have been BS but there was supposedly good interest after his tryout) and so team fit was really his only selling point. And he chose Yankees whichever aim surprised he thought gave him best shot at PT.

I get it from Yankees side, don’t get it at all from tulos sidr, especially on a min deal.

Mariners to Sign Kikuchi
How much would someone have to pay me more to have a 12 hr direct flight home instead of a 9 hour direct flight home. Not that much more.

Mariners to Sign Kikuchi
So anyway 4 for basically 60 is a little high but would have liked that deal for sox

Mariners to Sign Kikuchi
This makes a lot more sense. edit: actually rereading his first tweet it actually was describing the 4 year extension as a team option. The first time I read the 4 year guarantee as a player option.

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/25658933/seattle-mariners-japanese-lefty-yusei-kikuchi-agree-four-year-deal I think Heyman was mistaken. Passan mentions no four year extension. He probably just misunderstood someone saying that when the player option is executed it’s a guaranteed 4 year contract, not an additional 4 years.

Mariners to Sign Kikuchi
Yeah exactly. It would have been fun and maybe it’s a 7 year 10 million contract (I doubt it) but not a length I’d want to commit to. Really bizarre.

Mariners to Sign Kikuchi
That ... sounds like he’s mistaken. You are giving the player the option to re ew his contract for 4 years?

Could have been Colleen Kane.

If you replaced KW/Hahn with the Brewers FO you think the rebuild would last longer? No way, they’d get more out of everything, especially FA.

There are 8 openings, maybe more. There aren’t enough offensive assistants to go around and now the success of previous older, “not HC material” coaches like Reich succeeding means someone will take a chance. NFL teams are worse at hiring coaches than they are at even drafting.

And lack of impact draftees despite best position Sox have been in consistently for basically 5 straight years

Guessing with so many openings Fangio is good as gone. Helfrich may be kicked around too. Who are even the obvious candidates? McCarthy will get a second run. Arians maybe comes back. Guessing Carmichael finally gets a shot.

FWIW the Hoge and Hahns podcast had Robinson again as pretty much guaranteed to play

Also just thinking about how nervous I was after Giants loss that the Bears could finish up 1-3 and losing division. They went 4-0.

So I kinda felt like Wims and White actually provided a nice look in this more ball control offense Bears have morphed into. Nice to have a bigger, physical complement than what Bellamy provides (even though Bellamy has played pretty well).

Also I just don’t care that the vikes look listless, I don’t want to play a team 3 times.

Offseason plan in the event the Sox don't get HarpChado
Says who?

I get it, you prefer this open communication. I think you misunderstand the critique. People are saying if you weren’t prepared for what it took to get players, you shouldn’t have said they were. Same goes for Phillies owner.

I don’t understand what is difficult to grasp that if a front office says things are going to be different this time and they are going to be aggressive for top free agents and then they do not sign them that people correctly identify that as a failure on front office who incorrectly assessed the market for their main targets. If they said they were not targeting them and didn’t land them after checking in, then they would need to show they did what they can to pull this core forward without outside help. But yes, judging front offices by their execution of plans they described is something many will do.
