  1. Kingsbury to USC. That'll be fun.
  2. Here's the fatal flaw that I think your "view from nowhere" approach to grading paxson/forman misses out: - The last ten years have seen that tandem punch out a coach, nearly kill a player, play a player with a broken leg, publicly feud with a coach/use exit interviews to try and plant players against the coach/fire coach/send out an incredibly immature press release disrespecting the coach, hire new coach/consistently undercut coach/say the coach is the whole problem and never them/fire coach after delivering him a horrible team/turns out the coach was a disaster that they hired but that's the coaches fault And that's a high level view. The view of the bulls front office and exec culture around players is NOT positive. And you still expect that the bulls, which cannot differentiate itself with money offers, will be able to use their money to sign a star. It's going to be very difficult. Dwyane wade signed at Gandalf age because it was his home town. They essentially need a player whose overwhelming sentimentality toward Chicago overcomes the perception that the front office will throw anyone under the bus to keep their positions including coaches and players. Never themselves, though, never themselves. It's always somebody else's fault.
  3. No, I think Jerry very much hates this.
  4. We can all laugh at this when it's terribly wrong, but I do think, should Bulls be in that under 28 win mark, that Paxson/Forman are gone and Doug Collins leads a team to find a new GM/President.
  5. If I was hired coach I'm firing every holdover to make sure there's no pipeline to Gar like Randy Brown and (apparently) Boylen. What an awful front office culture.
  6. If Herm (and to whatever extent the Herm/Cooper combo) wasn't on the southside at the very least you'd have to wonder if KW is still president. They made a much softer landing for that 05 team, and papered over the terrible depth that made them somewhat competitive in 09-12.
  7. While you shouldn't try to undercut new coach right away (you should wait until months from now!), this is still embarrassing to me.
  8. That sentence could mean literally anything.
  9. I wonder if Fred gets fired if not for Zenni Opticals new jersey patch money.
  10. That was there for the taking.
  11. Did she go to Iowa State?
  12. That's valid, but between Narvaez and Smith, now crawford, it's clear he's still valuing players even if their control is for <6 years. He has zero farm, so I'm not sure I quite get it, but at very least he may be looking to develop those players prior to shipping them off.
  13. Swarzak makes 8 million this year. He was taken on to offset Cano. Smith is pre-arb and was the headline piece in trading Zunino.
  14. Why would Seattle trade Smith after just (re)acquiring him? He will cost you. And sox have not had much success seeing numbers for players on Tampa translate to the white sox.
  15. I'm really not confident that is the case.
  16. The contentious pieces were renegotiated in TPP by opening up other markets for them. Otherwise known as "the single worst deal in history".
  17. Well I think the point stands that at this point of the rebuild I don't think anyone should expect to do backflips over trades for market-priced relievers at deadline. They add backend system depth and are lottery tickets, but yeah, the idea of flipping him isn't going to be franchise altering without unreal luck.
  18. Which is why I think the good news here is this may mean that the president and gm realized that it wasn't just Hoiberg who was under a microscope for this season.
  19. NAFT(+TPPABCUS)A
  20. Sure, but why hire hoiberg if you were never going to give him a team that suits his vision? You don't have to supply him with the perfect pieces, but they supplied him with players specifically incompatible with his playing style (and much of the nba trends!)
  21. I saw swarzak was out of it, but yes, may be neutral.
  22. Paxson made a lot of promises to ST holders this year. I know a few that got phone calls that bulls wouldn't tank this year. So, I do not believe Bulls intend to take advantage of their bad start in order to land Zion or Barrett. OTOH, I do think if Bulls cannot put a respectable end of year together Paxson could legitimately be out.
  23. And Jabari Parker was also a SF. When I see stuff like that I see Fred trying to show the front office that the player they said is worth developing sucks, and once he proves it moves on to the next guy. He also had parker play SF for 3 preseason games before moving on, after all summer Forman and Paxson saying he could play SF. People not payed could see that was false, but Hoiberg had to play along for a bit. Everything in your second paragraph is team construction. Fred likes pace, moving the ball, three pointers. He has no point guard that can play with pace, a bunch of ball dominant players that love mid range jumpers. They actually have tried schemes on defense, Parker doesn't know them. Lavine gets lost too often. The only good player is WCJ. You couldn't put a worse basketball iq team together than the 2018 bulls without lauri/dunn.
  24. Notre Dame had the 63rd hardest schedule. UCF had 83rd. Clemson? 76. #banclemson
  25. Opens up even more cash for Phillies. Gross deal for Mariners in my opinion. Can't fathom the money stuff happening in that org right now. Where even are they on reduced salary?
