  1. I’m not really. I think the fastest way to wins this year is a better bullpen. If their internal options prove to be good, all of these players can be traded. Again, you might not get incredible prospects back with their contracts, but if it’s the money and spot you want you can get rid of it. Quickest way to more competitiveness in 2019 without sacrificing much flexibility was bullpen imo.
  2. Rainey looks pretty decent.
  3. Made a thread for the weird dodger trade proposal for those that want to discuss separate from #citytalk
  4. Ok but then doesn't that also mean that Wood is like being given away? Am I wrong for liking Alex wood at that point? Is he bad? I feel like he's kinda okay. I obviously see few dodgers games.
  5. Yeah there has to be some part I'm missing...like, they are taking kemp too? but that's the worst deal i've ever seen for lad.
  6. I kinda feel like I want Alex Wood in a deal where the reds get to dump homer bailey no?
  7. This sounds more like an airport story and less an LA story. That guy could have lived anywhere.
  8. Every city is nice when you visit or has nice things. I have had a blast in cle/mil/det, love minny. One thing for chicago people I think is east coast cities are a lot more relatable than west coast cities, which feel more like suburbs. But they still have amazing places and neighborhoods and experiences. USA USA USA
  9. Yes, I'm in my element as a missouri fan, trying to get like the high 4 star QB knowing lsu will offer them a spot to be their 4th qb going "but we have more parking!"
  10. Good luck with that. Soxtalk believe the dodgers care about the luxury tax way more than has been evident that the dodgers care about the luxury tax. They will not send out good value just to offload cash.
  11. How much less should Nova make? Alex colome in arbitration should make a little over 7 million. charlie morton is older and saw late in career success. I also think he's a really good pitcher, but that is risk that pushes price down, and not risk white sox particularly need to shop around in.
  12. Boras is not going to say anything that eliminates any team from bidding on his client. Even teams he may hate and not go to are useful. It really matters little at all what he says until it's "done deal".
  13. Use payroll flexibility in trade acquisitions or three way trades. Focus like an effing hawk to finally have a successful latam signing period for first time in the 21st century Sign trevor cahill to trade and booey rotation until prospects ready. sign Curtis Granderson because he's nice then trade in July to Yankees when half their roster splits their obliques. Invest all of the millions you were going to give to manny/bryce into player development and create the most innovative, best system in league. Fire renteria and hire jim boylen to create structure and improve stamina.
  14. Doesn't improving velocity improve spin rate?
  15. I think Rosenthal's last report is status quo for me. Everything that is only a light tweet is posturing. LAD is clearly trying to free up cash. Phillies say they aren't out. So they aren't out. Sox aren't either. Just a waiting game until we see a meaningful report that removes a suitor or says that things are heating up.
  16. No but I'm starting a thread for people who like to talk about what they like and don't like in threads.
  17. I don't care even knowing the circumstances now, but the sox are looking at the 2010s as a complete lost decade, that is unacceptable for any franchise. Am I hopeful for the 2020s? Hell yeah! But, like, Hahn has been GM since 2013, he doesn't get any slack from me for taking possibly 8 years to get to playoffs.
  18. It's especially hard when you let a group that hasn't shown they can do it in the past to continue executing it for you.
  19. bmags replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jones is a wonderful person and teammate and Baltimore was lucky to have his career, but I just don't see a team picking him up. Maybe as a 4th OFer.
  20. I've mentioned this before, what worries me is that signing one of these guys could have been a big part of their plans and losing out is not good. And it does get to, their talent accumulation outside of trades has not been as inspired as Padres or Braves just since 2016 when sox started infrastructure for rebuild.
  21. I don't have a feel for this one at all. Lessening the return would be sox taking on money. However, all of their "expensive" pieces are actually decent, Porcello is an overpaid 4th starter but you still need to give up something of value. I would imagine Dombrowski would like closer to bigs talent. Weird fit, very low here. But there aren't that many buyers out there, so you never know.
