  1. I don't know. I think it's more that Nick and Matt had their year 2. So the fact that he doesn't means he had a leg-up. I'm not keeping a long term spot for palka, but he did enough to get a second audition whereas the others second auditions didn't do anything.
  2. I think this is likely true, but also I did not expect sox to have another year of so many power-only, limited defensive players. Palka is gonna be who they go with, I didn't see nicky or matt d with spots. Also, the idea that we have to have two players to make a good DH grosses me out.
  3. I'm really happy that Davidson had two years in the big leagues. Would have been brutal for him to have lost it all the year he thought he was going to hit. Unfortunately he wasn't quite good enough, but he should definitely work on his pitching and try to be some weird player for the tampa rays.
  4. I just think that hamilton is going to be in the league until he's like 38 but only playing in september/october each year.
  5. https://twitter.com/nightengalejr/status/1068600588638801925 I find this interesting. Contenders should be all over this after the base stealing specialist was a thing last year.
  6. One aspect of this deal I like is it's a low-cost barometer of whether Hahn is going to be capable as a GM to build a winner. That said I'm aware we are about to get a bunch of high cost barometers of whether our pro scouting still sucks under Hahn. Colome is probably fine. Last year people thought he'd command Amed Rosario in the winter. Instead he fetched some meh prospects and now a backup catcher. If he returns to 2016 form that's gonna be a big piece.
  7. This is true, also true though is I love leury. Not gonna look it up, but I assume our record with him was like astronomically higher. Leury GOATcia
  8. Sorry is the $60 mill confirmed? I thought people still weren't sure if it's 60 mill cash or 60 mill when considering offsets of bruce/swarzak
  9. I hope this means that the mets are going to eliminate the idea of starting pitchers, but more likely it just means this new gm is an idiot.
  10. I would imagine latest moves mean this is unlikely.
  11. I am also in favor of just trying to load the dice to make sure we beat SF and NYG. The reason why the bears playoff odds are 97 percent is because of two games on the schedule that are incredibly winnable. Let's make sure we win them.
  12. I think Seattle could have gotten more for Diaz from another org, and I think they'd have been wiser to aim at just trying to marginally reduce cano cost through contract swaps. That said, Kelenic + Dunn is pretty good considering previous rumors. They have now traded two of their best pieces and received a top 25 player (whom i'm highly skeptical of) and a few top 100 players (though I am really not sure how much to value the play of players in the first year out of the draft). Underwhelming as far as I'm concerned but certainly could be worse.
  13. This deal will greatly affect what else they are able to do. They traded away highly valued, far away talent which is helpful for trades in win now situations. They added to their salary long-term for an owner that, unlike our own who does not spend out of preference, seems to have legitimate cash flow issues consistently. All moves are not equal. It's fine if they wanted to go for it, to go for it targeting a 38 year old and a closer with your most expensive acquisition is likely to be bad.
  14. I blame myself. I started the car and then ole jackie parkman took the wheel and drove it into lake michigan.
  15. The Mets were definitely a closer away.
  16. That is him. He used to message me. He does a good job.
  17. Rooting for Mets to acquire cano and Diaz because it’s so stupid.
  18. Am I wrong! I was at the San Diego game in 2011 when Bears moved to 7-3 and then Cutler was out for season and bears finished 8-8. Next year we were 7-1 and missed playoffs at 10-6! 2013 they were in drivers seat at 8-6 and could have clinched beating eagles, they lost by 100 points and then the packers won. It's not a good record!
  19. Why do we assume Brantley is an overpay before he even signs. He is the type of player that has been severely squeezed last few years.
  20. NFL can NFL though, and the ways this can NFL is if Daniel, still a wildcard, has a meltdown and we don't have the rushing game to pick it up.
  21. I think this is true but also a massive gamble. Lions I think are better than the giants, and had a massive advantage in thanksgiving day at home, but backup QBs can throw up some stinkers and the bears really only one because of a pick six last week.
