  1. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 01:09 PM) Don't care what anybody says. I'm gonna let myself enjoy the MPJ to Bulls gossip at the moment. I think that's a pretty good possibility at 6.
  2. Adam Hoge said they can't use the football stadium because there is a booked event there.
  3. Just a follow-up on some confusion, KC Johnson said a drawing will happen today that decides whether we get sixth or seventh (if no changes happen in lottery). As discussed before, this doesn't impact our lottery chances, which are split evenly between bulls/kings, just actual slotted position.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 10:27 AM) He was playing with Browns QB's and then got behind Sanu & Jones on the Falcons' depth chart. Nagy's offense revolves heavily around speed, and Gabriel is in the top 10 fastest guys in football. Do I think he'll be AWESOME? No, but yes, the Bears would be screwed without their #2 receiver, I'll bet. No one is saying Burton will be the second coming of Kelce, but I do think he's going to get as many targets as Kelce did last year. What he does with them is another story. They'll likely use a 2nd or 4th round pick on a receiver or pick up Inman, giving Trubisky plenty of weapons. I like those pick-ups, I'm just saying that you are allowed to rely on top heavy positions when you have proved they are in fact top heavy.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 10:22 AM) And you're assuming Meredith, who admitted himself "I'm not sure" as to when he'll be ready on Wedneday night on Waddle and Silvy & who will also at the very least miss the entire offseason of installing a new offense, would have provided that filler for the speculation. Yes, I'm saying that specifically letting Meredith get away over $1 million is an unnecessarily stupid move. It's not the end of the season, it's not a crippling move, but it is unnecessarily stupid in the same way forgetting to fill out the proper form for Warrick Holdman was unnecessarily stupid.
  6. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 08:57 AM) Who has great WR depth? Just as the Bears will be screwed without Robinson and Gabriel... Minnesota would be screwed without Diggs and Thielen Atlanta would be in trouble without Jones and Sanu Rodgers would pull his hair out without Adams and Cobb Wentz would struggle without Agholor and Jeffery The idea isn't to have WR depth anymore. It's to have versatile pass catchers, and the Bears have 5 of them. That's plenty. Yeah so the teams you mentioned all have the benefit of having actual established players and established production from their passing offense, which with the exception of Robinson (coming off an ACL), the Bears don't have, which is why passing up on depth in a year you are trying to establish a productive offense is dumb especially for 3 million. Trey burton is a 3rd string TE they really think will be good but has not done anything. Gabriel was waived 2 years ago and was a 3rd WR. Allen Robinson is good but coming off an injury. Shaheen caught less than 10 passes. Penciling all of that in and saying "wow versatility" is speculation at this point. And those other team mentions have much less other team needs than the Bears, who now may need to use draft capital toward a WR.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 06:16 AM) Pleasantly surprised how well Fisher is handling BIR early debbie downer response: It was around this time last year I was like "Dang Brett Austin seems to have figured it out offensively!" and then he hit like .050 the rest of the year.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 07:42 AM) Yrizarri has also been impressive. Only one walk so far (which is improvement), but he’s cut the K rate down to 8.3% and he’s actually demonstrating some power. I mentioned it the other day, but Yrizarri & Forbes are exactly the type of fringe prospects you want filling out rosters rather than the typical low ceiling org guys. Yeah it's the early .200+ ISO that's really nice to see. Also considering his defensive reputation really nice to get him work with Omar Vizquel.
  9. Did not know he was still in org.
  10. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 01:44 PM) From the guys I could find any info on, they seem to be older prospects. Considering several were pitchers, they are probably guys who developed late and are just being discovered now. Also, for signings under $10,000 (which many of these older ones probably are) the money doesn't count against the bonus pool, so we could be out of money and still sign those guys. Exactly what a few of us have been talking about doing (in a much smaller scale)
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 06:30 PM) The problem is you have to confront this eventually...the longer they get away with excessive tariffs, subsidies for state owned enterprises, intellectual property theft, transfer of tech then reverse-engineering it with a Chinese name...it will just get worse and worse. Unless you just hope their debt issues and property bubbles will cause a repeat ofvJapan in the late 80?€™s/early 90?€™s. Here?€™s just one blatant example. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landwind_X7 Imagine how the designers of Land Rovers feel about this. Or the fact 92% of MS Office isnt paid for or licensed due to piracy/copies. Okay. So how does pulling in neighboring/orbit countries like Singapore/Japan/Vietnam into respecting more western-style IP law not...helping that situation?
  12. Well, considering everything tied for 6 is a real nice situation
  13. Bears WRs Robinson Gabriel White Bellamy And since we know that no injuries happen to top Bears players, this is apparently a very good situation.
  14. Infante optioned to Triple-A @-JRFEGAN Gave him a shot. Guessing Gomez myself.
  15. So I'm gonna write this and hope someone can confirm: Rondon was released -Rondon could have then signed for a major league deal for any amount and years - When he signed for a minor league deal, he was then constrained by service time when he was brought up, so the sox still have his rights for 3 years Is this correct? Or could he have only signed for this type of deal?
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 04:22 PM) Tbh I’m not really concerned about a 4th possibly 3rd WR signing elsewhere. Especially not one coming off such a terrible injury Well I would counter that now we definitely need a WR in draft, with 4 of our 7 picks coming in 4th round or later. It means Kevin White is now relied upon. The conclusion we have to draw is this: - The Bears deemed Cam Meredith was worth an unprotected 2 million dollar tender but NOT worth a protected $3 mill tender - They left themselves open to losing him then for any contract over whatever idiotic middle difference between 2 and 3 million was Just don't tender him if you think he wasn't healthy, don't do this idiotic move.
  17. Great game, very entertaining and not frustrating at all. Never in doubt.
  18. The Mallex Smith highlight real from this series is ... entertaining.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 04:04 PM) Because he doesn't have enough service time. According to Baseball Reference anyway. That sounds off (not saying you are wrong with the info). He was released, those service tiem limits should only apply if control is kept. He was released and free to sign, he could have signed for anything couldnt he have?
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 11, 2018 -> 04:03 PM) I think he's slowed down a tiny bit as he got stronger/older. Still plus speed, but can't see him running wild is he turns into a slugger Honestly it all depends. TA showed speed from 1st to 3rd but little to 1st. Suddenly that's translating. The diamondbacks are some of the best baserunners in baseball. If he's still plus speed it can be tapped into at any second.
