  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 01:54 AM) Still, blowing monster leads to the Royals is pathetic and embarrassing. No, it's baseball. It happens every year where good teams blow "monster" leads to teams much worse. In October when we get to keep our trophy Bud isn't going to say "Sorry guys, on April 7th you blew a 6 run lead to the Royals, it was pathetic and embarrassing and because of this we are stripping your championship."
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 02:41 AM) I didn't think that Garland would repeat his 3.50 ERA from last year even before this season started. A prediction is just that -- a prediction. None of us actually knows what will happen. OH.MY.LORD, I don't think that Garland will repeat on his one season that was insanely better than the rest of the seasons in his career. JUST CALL ME A CRAZY MAN! I think a lot of people on here believe Jon is going to regress a bit, I don't think that is what ginger was referring to though.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 02:41 AM) Maybe you should bother reading the entire post b4 responding to it I read it all but still I don't even like seeing that.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) Yeah, WTF are they thinking? Probably that he absolutely rakes in the 2 hole and that he'll see a ton of fastballs hitting in front of the murderers row that is the heart of the phillies order. Not saying I'd do it but you can make a point for it.
  5. Yup, we'll get these next two. I actually told a few people from here that I thought we'd lose yesterday and win the next two, so hopefully I'm right now. I expect Vaz to dominate.
  6. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 02:07 AM) Buehrle had his best season ever ERA-wise last year but he will obviously still be really good. Garcia didn't instill any confidence in me after barely touching 90 MPH last week. I still think Freddy will put up an ERA near 4 though. Contreras could go either way. I honestly don't expect another 3.50 ERA out of Garland and I don't think that's unreasonable at all. I do think that Vazquez will be better this season though. Basically, our pitching staff was so good last season that it's hard to see them all repeating it. I still think they will be very good though. Well the way you worded it made it seem like you're saying because of these first four games the pitching is starting to regress. If you think that's going to happen then fine but don't say that it "has" already. As far as your argument, the only pitcher I really see regressing is Garland but I don't think it's going to be that bad. Mark might be a tad bit worse but not too much. Freddy is going to put up around the same numbers and I expect JC and Vaz is obviously going to be much better then the Duke. Overall, I expect the starters as a whole to put up similar numbers as last.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 02:10 AM) if we are 3rd-4th by the all star break or the end of the season. Get that thought out of your mind because it's not happening.
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 02:00 AM) Why are we replacing Gload again? Dude rarely plays. You just answered your own question. Listen, I've been one of Gload's biggest supporters on here and I know the guy can play but if he's just going to sit on the bench the whole time then there is just no point of having him.
  9. I'm from Chicago and I like ketchup on my dog. I guess I've entered Timo territory on here now.
  10. Great points. I agree on every single one of them.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) Switch home parks and the story may be different. That's a good point, still that Tigers lineup would drive most of us nuts as well as they don't have many clutch hitters on that team.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Would you trade our offense for theirs? I would in a heartbeat....but of course, I'm often accused of hating the Sox. It seems like a pretty easy choice when you just look at the lineups individually, however we did score more runs then them last year and obviously our offense is improved from last year.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) , this is two straight games where failure to execute by our players cost us the game. That's usually why teams lose.
  14. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) I haven't heard that anyone was warming up. Ozzie may throw him out there for one more inning and yank him. He's thrown 89 pitches. Unfortunately mlb.tv hates me and I can't watch this right now. If Jon has only thrown 89 pitches, I'd bet he'll be back out there knowing Ozzie.
  15. QUOTE(3RDBASE @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) you better redeem your self Pa-BLOWS!!! Are you jabroni's brother?
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) What else can he really do? Bat the Widge cleanup.
  17. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Indians all over the Twins 8-3. Rowand, your Twins suck. Please don't ever call them my Twins again.
  18. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) Ozuna, LF Iguchi, 2B Thome, DH PK, 1B Crede, 3B Uribe, SS Widger, C Mackowiak, RF Anderson, CF Garland, SP Oh ozzie.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) I was wondering where the Thome/Lightning connection was. Ha, it's still an absolutely beautiful sig though.
  20. QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) My thoughts exactly. First pressure situation he's seen yet, and I'd rather now than September. Get him some pitches against good hitters in tight situations early, even if it is against the indians. Otherwise you'll never know when the time comes. He could work his way up just like Shingo did in 04. I still think what Ozzie did was the wrong move but whatever, he's going to make more wrong moves this season and he's going to make moves that everyone on here absolutely hates that end up working out.
  21. QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) > Not even close.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) You feel bad...I fly into Chicago and end up seeing teams swept. I know one thing though...I did my job, 3-0 in the playoffs last year and well over .500 in the regular season. I say if we see a losing series, they get stuck with the bill Deal.
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) When a guy is a pretty thin starter who throws 92, has TJ surgery, returns as a giant beast that throws 97 with 3 unhittable pitches, then has his body fall apart after a few years, it's pretty damn suspecious. As for Rowand and Garcia on steriods...lol. However the idea Loaiza used steroids could definitely have some merit, watched him last night and he looked about 15 pounds lighter and couldn't throw harder than 84. Gagne has always, always thrown hard. I'm not exactly sure where you got that the only threw 92.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:19 AM) Now were destined to see the Sox get swept. I'm afraid to go to another game with Brian and Steve. Everything was going well, we're 1 and 0 and then they show up for the next two games.
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) Plus Chris Shelton...good god what a rule V pick that was. Agreed on Shelton, he's going to be a star. Way to go Pitt.
