QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) Damn, I thought I was the only one. Do you have them beating Gonzaga or Xavier? Xavier. Xavier is starting to get things back together after losing Thornton and Finn for the year. Also, everyone knows how I feel about Gonzaga, so I like the Musketeers in that one.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) DJ White will not be the best big man in the big 10 next year. Gregory Oden. Yeup. It won't even be close.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) IU wins by double digits. Book it! Post saved. It'll be a good game but SDSU will pull this out imo.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) I'm willing to be educated here, but why is San Diego St. considered a good team? What have they done or who have they beaten? Hell, I can't even find good teams they lost to. --Best team they played was Cal and they lost by 18 -- Split with Air Force, the team nobody thinks should be there -- Their non-conference schedule consisted of: Alaska Fairbanks UIC (loss) Southern Miss (10-21) Albany (woo hoo a #16 seed, but a tourney team anyway) San Diego Point Loma?? California Washington State (last in the PAC 10) UCSB (15-14) Maryland - Baltimore Co Providence (loss - doesn't make Big East Tourney) Loyola Marymount (12-18) South Dakota State I'll try to keep an open mind, but what about that schedule or the conference they play in makes anyone think they should be able to stay on the floor with Indiana, provided IU doesn't sleep through the game?? Watching them play. I've seen them play a good amount and Slaughter and Heath are absolute studs. SDSU is a real, real good team and in my sweet 16.

Man, Digger goes out on a huge limb. Besides the 8-9, the only first round upset he picked was Seton Hall over Wichita State and that's just because he hates the valley. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) That's supposed to be the case, but don't tell UNC that. Tennessee gets to play in Greensboro, NC, while UNC is stuck in Ohio. Tennessee is a whopping 17 miles further from Ohio than UNC. Edit: Well I was wrong, Knoxville is actually closer to Dayton than Chapel Hill, so thanks selection committee. Tenn's seeding makes even less sense now, if thats even possible. Nothing the committee did this year makes sense. Look at my rant in the dc region thread about the bubble teams. I want someone to explain that to me. -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) I'm not sure. I don't profess to know how they come up with the seedings in each region. Since Gonzaga was widely considered a 2, I would think that they would be the strongest 3 on the ratings, although most of us say that they are the weakest. I believe for the first 4 seeds they try to get them as close to home as possible. I don't think it matters where they are on the s curve. I believe that is right, I'm not 100 percent sure though. -
Just cause this is still bothering me a little bit, I would like to go over 2 resume's. Mo State: 4 rpi top 50 wins, rpi of 21, sos of 48, 8 and 2 in their last 10, tied for 2nd in the mvc which is the 6th rpi conference in the nation. Air Force: 0 rpi top 50 wins, rpi of 50, sos of 158, 7 and 3 in their last 10, tied for 2nd in the mwc which was the 8th rpi conference I believe. What the f*** am I missing here?? I heard that Air Force got in because typically the number 8 conference gets atleast two teams in. Now if that's true, all that bulls*** the committee has fed us about conferences not recieving bids is well..bulls***.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Seriously, they have like 3 players that are any good. Granted one of them is pretty tough inside and another is averaging 28 a game, but they don't have a lot of talent for a team that is supposed to be good. They just barely squeeked by several weak WCC teams, so I don't see how they are going to do anything against real competition. The only teams they beat that were any good this year are two drastic underacheivers in Maryland and MSU, and they needed triple-overtime to beat the latter. I think everyone knows why I dislike Gonzaga so much. If you defend that poorly, you're going to get knocked out early. Not only do they play s***ty defense, they just don't give a crap on the defensive end. They would rather showboat after scoring then get back and stop the opposing team in transition. It's pretty sad to watch. -

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) they are the weakest #3?? They're just bad. EDIT: Also considering the Memphis the weakest number 1 like zoom has nothing to do with considering Gonzaga the strongest number 3. Just cause they were in the discussion for a top seed means absolutely nothing. -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Any particular reasoning? I know it isn't a gimme, but I think that's about as good as they could have expected. Yeah, it would have been nice if they played Washington or Cuse instead of Pitt, but as I said, I'd rather have them then any of the 4 seeds except maybe Illinois. Plus IMO they got the weakest of the 3's and the second weakest 2 in their bracket to go with the weakest #1 (I think Memphis versus Nova is debatable, especially if Ray is off). I really don't think they could have got a harder draw for the first weekend, they got a tough 13 and then a real tough 5/12. I also disagree about Memphis being the weakest 1, I believe that's Duke to be honest. Gonzaga blows so I agree there. I also believe UCLA is the strongest 2 but we've had this convo before. That's what makes March so awesome though. -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) I don't know, Kansas definitely could have had a tougher draw than this. I definitely think that they can beat Pitt because they can actually score, and Memphis is just as young as Kansas is. While it will be an entertaining game, I think Kansas has a little better depth, especially if Douglas-Roberts isn't quite on top of his game with the injury. I definitely think they can take whoever comes out of the other side of the bracket too. Things could have been a lot tougher. They could have faced UConn or Duke as the #1 seed. Both have a lot more experience than Kansas and probably would be a tougher team for them to beat than Memphis. They also got a beatable second round opponent in Pitt. Granted Pitt is by far the best of the 5 seeds in my book, but they could have easily had to face someone like Florida, LSU, or BC that is a bit more balanced and athletic. Plus UCLA and Gonzaga are fairly weak high seeds on the other side of the bracket considering that Memphis was the bottom #1 seed. They did pretty well here, and I'm not sure they could have been much better off. I really couldn't disagree with you more. -
I think I'm about the only person who has BC losing to Nevada 2nd round.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 12:21 PM) It was just out there, I tried to resist. But I couldn't do it. As for Kansas, even though I have them in the final 4, they do have an amazingly tough path. Having to face a talented, hot team like Pittsburgh in the 2nd round almost seems unfair. The top of that region is so incredibly hard for me. I have Pitt beating Kansas in the 2nd round, however it would not surprise me one bit if Kansas gets to the sweet 16 but it also wouldn't surprise me if Pitt and Kansas go down first round. I also think it's very possible that either Kansas or Pitt beat Memphis. I think everyone has agreed that, that region is just full of upset potential. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) FWIW, Rowand is not giving any of the chalk teams a chance in the first round; every pick is an upset. lol, I have a ton of first round upsets this year. This tourny is so open I really expect there to be a ton of upsets. My bracket is a mess up to the sweet 16, then after that it settles down and gets boring. -

Once again, I think Kansas is going to win this game and I think they are a a good team BUT it would not surprise me one bit if Bradley can pull this one out. Like Kyyle said Bradley has 2 nba players in O'Bryant and Sommerville, not to mention they have a guard that I love in Tony Bennett. Bennett is about as quick a guard as you'll find playing in a mid major and yes he can keep up with about anyone. Kansas is a very good team but Bradley is fully capable of winning a few games in the tournament so do not be surprised at all Jimbo if your Jayhawks are in an absolute fight with this game. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) Utah State and Montana will both get blown out IMO. Utah State is a good team and they have a unique style of play. I don't think they deserved to make the tournament but they did and I think they will beat Washington who is a very weak 5 seed imo. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) Interesting who I'm going up against in the first round. Good matchup.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) Did anyone else watch this? I just watched the replay at 1130. I tought it was pretty unique, and pretty well done. It was fun to watch something "different" from those "the season" things. Pretty interesting. I especially like Pitino when he was asked about where Telfair could go in the draft and the chance he does go - he said something like "in my opinion, we better start recruiting" I enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty interesting.

My favorite was Digger calling the MVC final the most boring game he has watched all year. Yup and last week Digger would have told you ND belongs in the tourny. -

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) These teams are a very very different, this is Self's uptemp offense, and the nation's best defense. That's fine and I agree. I'm picking Kansas but Bradley has the athletes and the talent to have a chance against Kansas whether you want to believe it or not. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) I also gots no big 10 teams in the getting past the sweet 16. That makes two of us.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) haha that is good one..... Bradley keeping up with Chalmers, Robinson, Wright and Rush... Ya you're right, it's not like Kansas would ever lose to a mid major in the first round of the ncaa tourny, oh wait...what's that? -
