He said staff not rotation, big difference there, grilli could be valuable as a long reliever and a "6th starter," so to speak if anyone goes down atleast you can have a guy that could keep you in games.
I really do like how the bears have put there team together, obviously having grossman out for the year hurts their growth as a team but if they have a solid draft and/or have good fa pickups they really can be a good team next year, imo.
Gload has been consistant the whole year I don't know why you said he's only been good the 2nd half. His ba wasn't great in the first half but he was still driving in big runs in key situations, Ross has been a consistant hitter all year.
The problem with Jon is so many people had very high expectations for him(I know I did) Like qwerty said, the sox came into the season with him as the 3rd starter and the sox organization as well as many fans thought he'd fit that bill but he hasn't come close to it. Garland would be a very nice 5th starter, people get annoyed and angry with him though because he has so much potential but he pitches with no balls and because of this he'll probably never meet that potential leaving him as a 4th or 5th starter for the rest of his career. This could change around but I've given up thinking he's going to be a top of the rotation guy but like I said I have no problem with him being the 5th starter.
That's the big issue in my mind. I like both Pauly and Carlos but to me the big difference is the ability to have Gload step in for Pauly if he was traded, adding more range, better defense, and more speed to first base.
Because lofton got injured, our offense for the first couple of months was extremely dangerous with those two guys at the top of the order we saw what a 1-2 punch like that could do, then lofton got banged up and in the words of hawk POOF, it was gone.
That's Vizquel ace. Anyways I'd love castillo, Pierre, Furcal, Figgins, Vizquel, basically all the guys you mentioned I'd love to see on the sox. Wouldn't it be awesome to acquire Pierre and sign vizquel, now that would be a 1-2.
We were in the pennant race signing freddy in the offseason does absolutely nothing for us. Also you think we win a bidding war for Garcia and another pitcher?? No fricken way, we already need one starter going into next year if we didn't do this trade we'd need another one also. What has reed proved yet, sure he's off to a great start but who knows if it'll last. I like jeremy, i really do and I wish he was still a part of this organization however I'd much rather have freddy garcia.
