  1. Mecir is warming up and he's a righty. So I think Jose is going to bat.
  2. He's 30 years old, batted .301 last year, with 28 homer and 105 rbi's last year. He's not on the downside of his career, he's in the prime of his career.
  3. Or maybe ozzie is being smart about this and doesn't want to rush him back if it's not necessary to do so. The sox have been winning without him so why rush him back if it could further hamper his status for the rest of the year.

Still no Borchard in the lineup. I hope that injury isn't serious.
  5. Gotcha, I just wanted to clear it up anyways because I didn't word it very well.
  6. Yeah. I kind of worded that badly. I think the sox should definitely take best available but I do want to see them restock some arms in the system.
  7. Thanks for posting the article. I also like Fields but I think I'd rather the sox get a pitcher. But if they could get Howell with their compensation picks, Fields would probably be a damn good pick.

  9. I was just reading a draft article on Whitesox.com and they said that one guy the sox might look at is Mike Ferris. He's a left handed hitting first baseman and just from looking at his stats he looks pretty darn good. I'm just wondering what some of you draft guru's think about this guy?
  10. Not now they wouldn't but then it was very possible. They didn't have aurillia signed yet and Garcia wasn't a hot commodity, that deal would have been done.
  11. That was one of the deals that was going to happen if the nomar trade went down. Trust me I'm very happy how things are going this year, I'm just saying that the nomar deal still wasn't awful.
  12. I'm not saying I'm mad the trade didn't happen because this season has been aweseome so far and who know how it would have turned out otherwise. But it's not fair to say nomar would have been hurt with the sox, he got injured during bp iirc. Also the sox would have had Williamson another good bullpen arm and it looked like Jose was going to be traded for Freddy Garcia if everything went down... so it's not as if this trade was terrible in every aspect.
  13. I'll agree to disagree. Trust me I'd love to have either but would want Garcia more. Last year was definitely a down year for Glavine but even in 2002 he got off to a great start but slowed down a little. His era in the 2nd half in 2002 was 3.93, while not horrible, pitching in the national league that ain't all to great. He'd worry me a little bit coming down the stretch and for that reason alone I think Garcia would be a better pickup, imo.
  14. Koch has been damn good so far this year. The sox don't need a closer. If Koch were anything else but the closer he'd be worthless cause he'd explode. He's the closer, period.
  15. Garcia is better then Glavine.
  16. Wow that's a tough question. It seems to me that Anderson and Sweeney have a higher ceiling but reed has already shown production for some time now. But it would be really hard to give up reed if the sox were to trade for Beltran because Carlos would only be a rent a player and with maggs possibly leaving at the end of the year, the sox would need reed. I guess I'd have to see the trade to make an assessment. That being said, imo no one is untouchable from the minors and this year has a chance to be really special and a guy like Beltran or Randy would make this team unreal but those two players are just pipe dreams anyways.
  17. Again that's not what I'm saying. The power aspect of the offense is fine and will be fine for next year. Carlos is definitely streaky, Frank's aging but still producing. Pauly will still be around next year also. I'm saying power isn't a need for the offense even for next year. The sox will still need more contact guys that can get on base and run. I'd love to have Magglio back but I think filling reed in, in rf and using the 14 mill elsewhere is the smartest thing to do.
  18. I'm saying reed for next year if Maggs were to walk. If kenny doesn't trade carlos for a frontline starter then Reed will have rf open up for him next year if Maggs walks and he'd be the perfect type of player to be in the lineup everyday, a contact guy who doesn't swing for the fences.
  19. Maggs or no Maggs the sox don't need more power. They're going to have carlos, pk and Frank all under contract next year and that's enough power as it is. What the sox need is a contact type guy like Reed. wharris I'm with you I'd rather let reed play next year and spend 14 million on bigger holes.
  20. Freddy Garcia is who I'd love the sox to get. Can you imagine a rotation of Garcia, Buehrle, ELO, Garland, Shoney, in the words of Hawk......MERCY!

Figures, I've already been to one rained out game and one game where it was raining all night, so of course today will also probably get rained out.
