  1. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 12:29 AM) This is absolutely classic. You SIU boys had to have loved this. I lost it when he politely says "bless you" after someone sneezes right in the middle of his rant. http://www.awfulannouncing.com/2013/decemb...r-the-ages.html Ha awesome.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 10:17 PM) Always go after the best player available, particularly when drafting high. If we're drafting for current ML team needs, we're doing it wrong. Yup. It's baseball, never ever draft for need.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) Frankly, unless something becomes available at a relatively decent price, and given the circumstances of the current team, I have no problem going to Spring Training with Flowers, Phegley, Nieto, and Gimenez battling it out for two spots. I ultimately believe Phegley and Nieto will win out. Gimenez is on a minor league deal, so no big deal. Flowers has to clear waivers but, as I understand, cannot refuse an assignment to the minors due to his lack of service time. He will murder AAA pitching for a while. I'd rather have Josh starting but feel as if Flowers is better equipped to be a back up, if that makes sense.
  4. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) This is true, and I'm not trying to say it isn't, I was just responding to a previous poster who brought that up. Ya it wasn't really directed towards you though it was in response to your post.
  5. Ya Lillard is kind of decent.
  6. Cause you can do that kind of stuff with all pitchers.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) Quite a post. Agreed with most, but a few things just out there. One thing is for certain, the excitement level of sox fans has gone up 10 fold since a mere 5 months ago. At least us on this board. Unfortunately, i don't think what Rick has done does anything for attendance or excitement around the team from the casual fans unless they start winning right away.
  8. Abreu Johnson Davidson Semien Danish Hawkins Anderson Beck Micah Johnson Webb
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 06:52 PM) There's nothing left for Davidson to prove in AAA and he already played 30 games in MLB and looked rather competent. As for Dunn, you keep him unless you come across a trade that costs you in little money and/or brings in real talent. He serves an important role on this team, which is being a useful hitter that hits left-handed and can keep those three righties from being slayed by RHP late in the game. While we're not going to blow our wad trying to win in 2014, you don't actively make the team worse for no particular reason. I agree with all of this.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 07:05 PM) Just curious since I am out here and have to listen to people worshiping the team. What do you all think of Kansas? Do you think the team is a serious national title contender or a total pretender? Are you high on them or low? As with Kentucky I'll let you know in a few months. I want to say that they are legit national title contenders because of the insane talent they have but as of right now they aren't a very good basketball team.

  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 06:09 PM) Been thinking a lot about this trade for two days now, and I don't think I would have made it. Reed is a very good closer, only going to get better. His ERA got too high because of 2-3 really bad outings. He took the ball and saved 40 games for a lousy team. The kid has guts and big time experience. I would have kept him. Dbacks got a good deal, IMO. There's always gotta be one.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 04:10 PM) Very good point by the drunk guy. Well I'm not drunk now.

Ugh, we can't just keep letting Balta run wild like this, he'll never learn that way.
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) Whoa those are really low starting salaries. Even my roommate who is just a lab tech at a large pharma company (and is hourly) makes around $40k before overtime. Entry level in IT is like $55k+ at most large companies in the Chicago area. IT has to be one of the higher paying starting fields. My buddy made 65k right out of school at Boeing while no one else that I know came close to that.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) CDW, 23k +2k signing bonus paid out of 365 days. Also 10% of GP commisson. I made probably 40k as the top rep my group. To me that was a TON of money. Ha CDW hasn't changed at all.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 12:06 PM) Phegley will be in the Sox org somewhere in 2014, almost guaranteed. May not be in Chicago on Opening Day, but he's not got much value in trade, so he's probably in Charlotte if not Chicago. So he's a pretty safe guy to run out there, and he did seem to have some fan appeal last year. Plus, as you may note, the Sox have a number of prospects going this year, which is new: Micah Johnson and Marcus Semien are in the lineup. They used to have prospects come when I used to go before they changed hotels. How could one forget getting Kris Honel's autograph? One of the best moments of my life.
  18. Even pre Chip Kelly the Eagles forgot about McCoy sometimes, not sure how s*** like that happens but it does all the time.
  19. That is pretty odd actually. Safest bet is that it probably was a mistake but odd none the less.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 10:50 AM) Tragically destroyed in a fiery crash. Gaged. I always heard that there was a violent revolution to get Gage out of power, no?
  21. I wish Rick Hahn was the gm of the Bulls.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) Zack Zaidman said the other day that Briggs is still 4th in the league in run stuffs. Thats crazy How the hell is that possible?
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 08:54 AM) I saw an amazing number yesterday. Since the beginning of the 2011 season, Tom Brady has a 26.8% completion rate in the end zone to receivers not named Gronk. That's not shocking to me at least this year it's not. A lot has been made of Brady's numbers being down because of his lack of weapons and while that is certainly true, the guy made some absolutely horrendous throws the first 10 weeks of this season. Sure it hurts not having your guys but he was just bad as well.
  24. I like Samradjalahbsjaa more than most on this board...but no.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 11:34 PM) Matthew Stafford and Tony Romo are overrated as hell and love screwing up in December. Stafford yes, I'm not sure who overrated Romo though, that guy gets killed more than anyone.
