QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 10:19 PM) Man, I love me some good eggnog. I prefer the non-alcoholic kind, though. Just a good old carton. Never actually had eggnog. Safe to assume I'd prefer the alcoholic version.

Looks like ss2k5 has been hitting the eggnog early this year.
  3. I haven't had a chance to watch the last few games, are we fun bad yet?
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) It would rank him in the top-100 across the MLB, and tied with guys like Billy Butler and Buster Posey. People are really struggling to grasp the fact that the steroid era, for the most part, is long in the rear-view mirror. Yup. It always sounds like a low number you just have to think about it and realize that's a good amount of homeruns now a days. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 01:29 PM) I thought you were just saying that 90% of good players are good looking, not that 90% of good looking players are good. I am entirely confused now, thanks Pods wants on your list too. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) His goal may be a .400 OBP, but the reality is 7 players did that in 2013. Ya it's probably not going to happen but it's great that he has that as a goal for himself.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) $$ It's not a lot of money, it'd be silly to move him for nothing.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) Those aren't projections, those are goals I was going to say, how is it bad to set goals?
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 11:09 AM) I told my dad the other day that a good idea would be to open a jewish style deli near Kent Law school. For whatever reason there just arent that many. Do you work at Kent? I know you've asked FFC before, I don't work there anymore but you guys do get a nice discount if you do indeed work there.
  8. My fresman year at SIU my dad gave me a credit card to use and I got it taken away because I basically bought hundreds of dollars of Jimmy Johns a month so I definitely get the JJ love. Ironically enough my buddy worked there my last 2 years down at school so I got it for free whenever I wanted to. I do love Subway though. I can actually say besides Blimpy's I've pretty much loved all of those sandwich chains.
  9. Buffalo Chicken for me at Subway and I absolutely love it.
  10. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) Did I miss a headline where the Sox acquired this Elmore guy? Wasn't a headline because Elmore is nothing.
  11. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 09:59 PM) Eaton was on a ROY pace before injury last season. If a guy like Gardner is a quality every day CF, Eaton very likely can get it done. Not denying that but he hasn't gotten it done at the major league level yet whether it was injury related or not. I'm certainly not looking down on the trade, I just want to see what Eaton is before I get overly excited about it because I still like Hector's upside as well.
  12. We already got our 3b and catcher, his name is Paul Konerko.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:19 PM) So people really think Santiago should have netted more than an mlb starting cfer and lead off man that is cost controlled for many years? Jeez. Rock, we aren't sure that Eaton is a legit starting cf yet. For me it's high upside for high upside with Hector having proven a little bit more at the big league level and Eaton having a potential higher value to our team. Like I said, I think it's pretty fair on paper, just have to wait and see how Eaton and Hector end up turning out.
  14. Eaton called himself a grinder.
  15. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) Hahn just called Eaton a "dirtbag ball player" He's so grindy but talented grindy. I will take him under my wing to make him the grindiest of the grindy.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) The fact Punk-Lesnar wasn't even nominated is a miscarriage of justice. Well the Bellas won diva of the year and Rock-Cena won match of the year, the slammys are just another storyline building tool or a way to put over their mainstreamness.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) I'm fine with the Santiago for Eaton idea but what I'm not fine with is management's idea that this is our big move. (KW said this will definitely excite fans) We've made a big move, in fact, you're our big move.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) Yup. Exactly. Somehow the Sox have skipped the whole "development" process and picked up three core pieces ready to take swings in the bigs on Opening Day. Well that's of course if Eaton and Abreu don't suck. I don't know why we're comparing ourselves to the Cubs but lets not get ahead of ourselves.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) My problem with that is that Quintana made the leap as a 23 year old. Santiago is going to be 26 next year and hasn't had the break through yet. He hasn't really been given a chance. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) While also having to build his stamina during the year because of the dumb decision by the Sox heading into the season? Santiago has a pretty high ceiling, IMO. A much higher ceiling than the likes of Rienzo. Yes.
  20. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 03:52 PM) Santiago could never be a #2. I am sorry, he's a great competitor on the mound and does well for his tools but he's not a frontline starter. He's a solid rotation member who will eat innings. I think Paulino, if healthy, can duplicate what Santiago could do. We got tremendous value for Santiago if Eaton comes back healthy and comes close to doing what he's done consistently in the minors. And this is a point of view I don't understand. Hector has a good enough arm to be a #2, not saying he's going to get there cause he does have a lot to work on but he definitely can.
  21. I haven't read the whole thread but besides B>W have people really been that pissy about this? For me this is the ultimate wait and see, I could see it from both gm's perspectives.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) Right, but we're trading a low ceiling pitcher for a high ceiling player. Who helps in the various areas of need that will matter in '15, '16 etc. When you hold onto tons of pitching depth in a bad year, you sink an asset just by waiting til that inevitable arm injury. Holding onto too much starting pitching without having anything else on your team = not good. Those assets are the ones more likely to depreciate due to wear and tear. This would all be different if we were a good team right now, with a healthy farm system. That is not the case. If you go on about Santiago being 'mishandled' (as if pitchers MLB-wide dont go through the same kind of things when they're not 'special')............then why can't i bring in Eaton's UCL situation as well? we can go on about those things and uncover excuses left and right. Calling Santiago low ceiling is wrong.
  23. We're not getting a prospect but we're giving one, that's confirmed now.
  24. I'm going to take the wait and see approach on this. I don't love it or hate it on paper. Hahn definitely had the right idea with this deal, just not sure if Eaton is the right guy.
  25. So the stupid slammy awards got me thinking about match of the year. For me it was Punk-Lesnar followed by Punk-Cena on raw and Bryan-Ceasaro on raw. What do you guys think?
