  1. Boston isn't very good.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2012 -> 11:58 PM) I played 16" for one year in the financial league at Grant Park. I hated it. I know that is sacrilegious in Chicago, but too damned bad. Now put some ketchup on my hot dog and leave me alone. Rowand44 likes this post.
  3. 12" is so much more fun imo.
  4. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ May 26, 2012 -> 05:44 AM) Haha I hear ya. I was however kind of shocked the guy didn't even ask me, or tell me the story was even up. Pretty awesome dude. Congrats!
  5. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 25, 2012 -> 10:48 PM) You better believe it, and its boomin brotha! Go to sleep. See what I did there?
  6. Never been a fan of watches, even before cell phones I never wore them. To each their own though.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 25, 2012 -> 08:06 AM) It was our 6th game and I've been hitting over .600, no idea how I started to do it and it pisses me off. I need to go back to trying to kill the pitcher. It's so easy to get greedy in slow pitch softball.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 25, 2012 -> 07:15 AM) Who is up to something fun this weekend? I'm staying in town but weekend is busy. Friday: The Jose Quintana show Live Saturday: Golf & a BBQ Sunday: Wedding (holiday weekend weddings suck) Monday: Another BBQ with my folks Work today and tomorrow. I also have a wedding on Sunday but it's early and I'm going to a bbq/drink-a-thon after. No plans as of yet on Monday.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2012 -> 01:27 PM) Or pretty much anyone else in that pen. Thornton's stuff is still the same but he's been "Iffy", Crain's been hurt, Jones has pitched his tail off but he's been worked more innings than anyone else in the pen already, Stewart has pitched like a rookie who needs experience, and Santiago is the guy who blew those games. If we were going to ease someone into the role wouldn't it make more sense to start the guy with 0 closing experience in the 7th or 8th innings instead of just throwing him in the closers role? You are right though, it's obviously not a 100 percent certainty that we would have won those games, far from it but everything about the decision to have Reed start in the "middle" innings and Santiago start as the closer made no sense.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 24, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Wasn't one of the main reasons KW could sign a lot of free agents (Dye, Hermanson, Iguchi, AJ) due to not being handcuffed by Carlos Lee's contract anymore? 100 percent yes and you know that. Tex for whatever reason refuses to acknowledge that and instead tries to make witty comments that have absolutely nothing to do with the point all of us are making.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 24, 2012 -> 12:40 PM) Did they really mess it up though? There is ALOT less attention and pressure on him this far into the season being named the closer and we are only a few games back. I dont mind it although I called this from the beginning. Yes. Because we've blown a few games when Addy should have been out there instead of Hector/Thornton. Addy has shown to have the closers mentality through out his minor league career and there was no reason to ease him into the situation. Not to mention that plenty of guys in the last few years have just been thrown into the closers role and been successful.
  12. I love DJ and Farmer. They provide absolutely 0 baseball insight but they're both complete clowns and entertaining as all hell.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 24, 2012 -> 11:39 AM) I really don't see that this was an easy management decision. Most really good closers have one outstanding off speed or "trick" pitch. Rivera with the cutter, Hoffman with the changeup etc. Reed does have an outstanding fastball and good offspeed stuff but Santiago has that screwball that really could make a difference. And it's not like Reed had or even has a track record of success in the majors. In a year where no one expected them to be in playoff contention, I can see where Santiago's skill set was very tempting. I can't say I agreed with it but I can see the logic behind it. Reed has been groomed to be the closer of the future since he was drafted, absolutely dominated the minor leagues, was named best relief prospect in baseball by numerous publications and has very good stuff. Reed was the clear and easy choice from day 1 to be the closer and per usual this organization messed it up. Thankfully, for once we were actually quick to act on something instead of letting it play out for months only to cost the team more games.
  14. If anyone on this board has connections to him...SIU is a fantastic school. Ok thanks.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 23, 2012 -> 11:21 PM) Aaaaaaaaaaand college Justin returns. He'll make an appearance some weekends but no, no binge drinking 6 nights a week type deal. You better believe I'm going to party it up this summer though.
  16. We're 1.5 games out of a playoff spot.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 12, 2012 -> 01:16 PM) Welcome to Illinois. This has disaster written all over it. Lease signed. Mid June move in. Ya, this is happening, Kenny!
  18. Konerko and Sale are the two best people in the world.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 23, 2012 -> 08:32 AM) Well Jesus cost us a few runs in the field yesterday, unfortunately. I hope he is better out there tonight. Man, he dies for your sins, takes a pitch to the eye, comes back and plays first base and you still complain?!? Give the guy a break, it's not like he's god...
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2012 -> 11:14 AM) +1 I'm looking forward to going to some cubs games over the summer. Cheap tickets on a hot day with booze and some good eye candy? Yes please.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 22, 2012 -> 10:17 PM) Anybody think Okie City has a chance vs. the Spurs? I say San Antonio in four or five. I don't think OKC is ready for prime time still. The Heat apparently got their wake up call when the Pacers went up 2-1 and everybody was saying Eric would be fired after the season ends and people were getting down on Wade. Right now the Heat are looking to be locks to make the Finals. No way Miami is going to lose to Boston or Philly. Overreaction galore. No way SAS and OKC is a short series. Ill take the Thunder in 7. If Bosh is ready to go then Miami is going to roll Boston.
  22. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 19, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) Justin you're missing my point. Nah I got it. I just twisted it a bit to reiterate mine. It really isn't a big deal, it's just strange to me. Oh well.
  23. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:48 PM) He is underrated IMO also. He has pitched some great games but as usual he has a bad one and the calls for him to be traded pop up. You hear that about other Sox players also. Apparently you are only as good as your last good effort Is there a player on the sox you don't think is underrated? Anyways, this is Gavin Floyd, streaky as all hell, I'm sure in a couple of months, he'll have a 6 week stretch where he's one of the 2-3 best starters in baseball.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) And on the third day he rose again, and took his place at 1B and in the clean up spot. Well at least we all now officially know that Pauly is Jesus. I thought he was but never had confirmation until now.
  25. If ESPN wants to hire more Erin Andrews' or Samantha Steele's then I'm all for it. Go eye candy! Anywho, I will always love Hawk but he just plain sucks at his job now a days. I'm all for a change in the booth but I certainly won't be heartbroken if he's here for a while.
