  1. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) Albeit it's definitely better now, but we still had to go through Boston and Cleveland, and that was without Nelson and with Skip to My Lou and Courtney Lee as our backcourt. I'll give credit to the Bulls for the way they played defensively last night. Over a 7 game series though, I don't see our perimeter guys shooting that badly as they did last night. No-one other than Dwight played well. Boston minus KG, huge difference obviously.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) Wait til the parents start getting on your ass. Already happened after our first game. I accidentally forgot to play a kid in the 4th quarter and his dad let me know about it. I'm pretty good at splitting up playing time though, everyone gets pretty equal PT until the last 5 or so minutes of the game when the best kids play.
  3. Gonna brag here for a second: Got my 5th and 6th graders to a 4 and 0 record after a blow out win today. Much more fun than I ever thought I'd have coaching, real solid experience so far!
  4. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 10:08 AM) Gallardo strikes me as someone who puts undue pressure on himself. Now he doesn't have to be "the guy." Plus, for fantasy purposes, he will no longer be going up against the other team's ace. I can buy the mental thing but I'm almost positive that teams "aces" don't face each other as much as people believe. First game of the season for sure than it's all a mess.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) The simple fact is, the Magic have earned that respect. They got to the Finals. Yes, they got trounced, but they've been at the top for years, they've won big series, and they've beaten teams they're not supposed to beat. On top of that, they've been beating the Bulls badly in recent matchups. I'm not confused by it at all. The Bulls have to earn that respect. The Magic had to earn it before they got where they are now, and they still get a decent amount of razzing (for things like Howard's offensive game). Once again, that has nothing to do with these current teams. The Magic are much different than their finals team and the Bulls are much different than they've been. Not to mention, the top of the Eastern Conference this season is about a million times better than it was when Orlando got through it. Lets just say, there's absolutely 0 reason for me to believe that Orlando is better than the Bulls at this point. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 10:39 AM) Howard has pretty well dominated whether Joakim is around or not IIRC> They really haven't played that much to be perfectly honest because of Noah's injuries. That being said, when Noah has been around, the last two games Dwight has had something like 13 and 9 points, certainly not dominating and certainly no 40 points.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 09:47 AM) Wasn't one of his postseason HR's in Boston? You were there for that? EDIT: Apparently it was in Chicago. For some reason I've always thought we won that blowout game in Boston. Haha, I was at games 1 and 2 of the ALDS and game 2 of the World Series. Talk about amazing games to be at...
  7. I really have nothing against the Magic, it just really confuses me why this version of Orlando is considered so much better than this version of the Bulls by nearly every analyst around. Obviously it's not a big deal but it makes me that much happier when we defeat them.
  8. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) The Bulls are going to have to find a way to slow Howard down if they hope to have a chance to win a playoff series vs Orlando. He seems to go off whenever we face Orlando and 4th quarter today seemed like every time ball was in hand was guaranteed bucket. The Bulls won today but giving up points that easy would make it hard to win a series He's not scoring 40 when Joakim is around.
  9. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 06:51 PM) I'm with you on Gallardo as well. Moving from the "ace" position down to #2, Gallardo is going to be a fantasy monster. What's the difference?
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) Podsednik was definitely a power hitter as well. Ahh good point. I was in attendance for both of his postseason home runs, how could I forget the monster power hitter that man was?
  11. The White Sox won a World Series with Carl Everett as our main source of pop from the left side. I think we'll be ok with just Adam Dunn.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 08:18 AM) I thought he was terrific in an atypical role in Stranger than Fiction. Hated "Stranger than Fiction", loved "The Other Guys" though.
  13. Seriously, that east starting lineup is just ridiculous.
  14. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 10:32 AM) The reason the Packers are in the Super Bowl is because they have a great D and a great QB. The end.
  15. No matter what you think about Dayan overall, to not have him on the Sox top 10 list is an absolute f***in joke.
  16. If our coach wasn't such a loser than Bertrand to SIU would make a ton of sense.
  17. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 10:31 PM) Well said here. It's not a stat but Freddy was a flat-out winner last year and I love the idea of a 6 man for the 2nd half. Maybe that would help Gavin hold it together at the end. A 6 man rotation is just never a good idea.
  18. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) Wait, people rushed the court for beating Illinois? I know Indiana is down, but damn, you're Indiana. That's just awful.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 11:08 PM) Norberto Martin was basically a light-hitting, utility IF who offered next to nothing outside of an occasional web gem. Mike Cameron Jon Rauch and Jim Parque Tony Graffanino
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) I haven't watched every single game...but I've definitely noticed a big difference in the effectiveness of teh P&R against the Bulls comparing the games I watched in Nov., when they were being torched, and the games I've watched recently, where they use it but it's not a big time option. This. It's a night and day difference to be honest.
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) If we have the money for Freddy, then we had the money for Andruw Jones. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) I thought the "F" stood for "Fragile" ? ? Well for the reason you put in your next post, having a solid 6th starter could provide more value than a really good 4th of for this current Sox team.
  22. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) I still think assuming he is healthy the Wsox should look into Duchesier(sp?) from the A's... Just to be a complete ass, that wasn't even close to correct. Duchscherer.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) I disagree on this one...if either Sale or Thornton are going to be the primary closer, then the Sox still needed another lefty even if Peavy started from day 1. Exactly. Ozzie loves the matchup game too much to not have 2 other lefties in the pen if Sale/Matt are designated as the teams closer.
  24. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 11:35 PM) It was a decent game. Fredette is Reggie Miller like. He even got a foul call on a flop when he stuck his leg out. The rest of BYU is about as bad as you can get offensively though. He scores absurd numbers because if he scores only 20 they get smoked against anyone decent. Defensively they impressed me. I'll have to watch the return game because I think SDSU might be the better, more dangerous team in the tourney. They are. They're bigger, longer and extremely more athletic. Their problem is that they're not exactly the best jump shooting team, they rely on athleticism and defense, but they're certainly the real deal. And ya, BYU doesn't have a ton of talent outside Jimmer though Jackson Emery is a very good player, but it appears by the box score that he played like poop today. Thing is, Fredette is good enough to carry a team by himself to an elite 8 run or so, very Stephen Curry like if you will.
