De La Hoya/Mayweather
I'll go with the upset and pick Oscar. I'm definitely looking forward to this, I'll be going to BWW on Saturday to watch it, even if it's by myself(none of my friends seem to like boxing).

MLB to address blackouts
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 2, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) yea, I was suprised it wasn't blacked out here as well. Do they even get CSN off campus? Hopefully I will be off campus next year, because freaking NIU doesn't get CSN on campus. What a joke. Nope, no CSN here at all. Only FSN Midwest. I get blacked out of all mlb.tv games and for some reason ESPN games as well, it's absolutely ridiculous.

Federer, Nadal do 'Battle of Surfaces'
Sounds pretty cool to me. I like Critics idea better though.

MLB to address blackouts
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 2, 2007 -> 06:23 PM) I understand blocking me from mlb.tv if the game is available on my cable/sat system. But when I am blocked out and the game isn't available, that's wrong. Thank you. It's so frusterating being blacked out of Sox games in Carbondale when I don't get CSN. It's ridiculous.

Sign Buehrle, trade Crede and Dye
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 2, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) Since the series at Boston last year before the All-Star break, what reasons have you had to be encouraged about this Sox team being capable of competing in the AL Central? Without Pods, Thome and Hall...? Since that series, we're 45-54 and just came out of any abysmal spring training. After a certain point, you have a trend and not a blip on the radar. I'm willing to bet pretty much anything you want that we don't win more than 86 games this season. Our pitching is pretty damn good right now. Nobody thinks this offense is going to be amazing but it's certainly not going to be anywhere near this bad all season. To give up in May is pretty ridiculous.

Sign Buehrle, trade Crede and Dye
This is quite the overreaction right now.

The Greg Walker Lynch mob thread
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) I'll say this, the guys look absolutely horrid. I don't think Walker is a bad hitting coach, but I've also noticed in baseball that sometimes hitters just need a change every few years because for whatever reason the coach just stops having that positive effect on them (maybe the hitters start ignoring him or the hitting coach gets comfortable and isn't able to think as creatively when it comes to fixing guys problems because he's gotten so familiar that he always thinks a certain thing will fix it). So I wouldn't be opposed to it. I'm also hoping the Bats pull out of this because I do think Walker is one of the better hitting coaches in the league. However, like I said, maybe these guys need to hear a new voice. Like usual, we agree. I've said before that I don't think this slumber is on the hitting coach, however, change might be the best thing, a lot of times something like that will light a fire under the hitters collective arses. That being said, I'll bet that Walk or no Walk, we'll be going through the same crap in a year or two.

Post Your Questions for Gio Gonzalez and Jack Egbert!
Alright for real questions: For Gio: Some people believe that your small stature is a disadvantage, do you see it as one? For both of them: Both you guys and Adam Russell have been pitching extremely well so far this year, do you guys have any friendly competition going?

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 1, 2007 -> 01:32 AM) Thought I'd add this in here: I wonder if the majority of ESPN analysts have ever picked a Chicago team to win a playoff game/series.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) I love how a demotion to AAA to get him AB's has fans thinking the sox are giving up on a #1 draft choice. Actually, they gave up on him the day they made him our 4th outfielder, imo.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) You don't need more than two years to understand the value of a prospect. Garza -- drafted #25 in 2005 -- has dominated minor league competition at every level, has power stuff, and happens to be in the right organization for pitching development. I don't need more than two years to figure that out. And hasn't proven squat in the majors...

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(chisox72 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 06:08 PM) Don't even take it there. You know exactly what I am talking about without the additional BS. On this board especially, the large portion that supported him felt he could do no wrong. When he didn't play, it wasn't his fault. When he didn't get hits, it wasn't his fault. When he dogged to get balls in the outfield in this past week alone, it wasn't his fault. When it came to this kid, a VAST majority of those who were/are in his corner always pointed the finger in the other direction instead of him. So don't give me, "where do you get this s*** from", because if it wasn't prevalent I wouldn't have brought it up. The guy needed to go, PERIOD. End of discussion. EDIT: On a side note, I WAS a BIG Anderson supporter, but enough is enough with this whole debate. Actually the majority of the so called Anderson supporters just believe the kid was handled completely wrong, if you want to debate that or not, whatever but that was what a lot of people had the problem with. Sure there are some people that believe Brian will be an allstar(certainly not me) or he's never done anything or this and that, but what's more ridiculous, those people or the ones who refuse to believe that someone can improve after 400-450 major league ab's. Anderson was not good last year at the plate, everyone knows that but he did show some improvement in the 2nd half of the season. Still wasn't fantastic but it was improvement, would he have continued to improve if he started this year? I have no clue, but I believe he deserved that shot. If Ozzie didn't believe so, fine then let him start the year in Charlotte. We cleared the way for this guy and then put him in the s***tiest situation ever, everyone and their mothers knew he'd struggle in that role. Some of the comments about why people like Brian are just completely asinine. Everyone knows that the only reason I ever supported him is because I thought he was such a cool surfer dude.

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(chisox72 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) I love how a guy who did NOTHING gained all of this fanfare to the point of him being elevated to a god-like status.... Yup, all of the people who are fans of Anderson believe he is a god, mostly because of his awesome hair and because he's a cool surfer dude. He's the greek god of surfing. Jesus, where do some of you guys get this s*** from?

Anderson sent down to AAA
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) It's Brian's fault the offense sucks. His bad attitude is rubbing off on all the other hitters. Now the offense is guaranteed to pick up! He can take his surfboard and flowing golden locks to Charlotte. You and I feel the same way about the whole Anderson situation but right now this is definitely the best thing for him. It needs to be done.
-
Anderson sent down to AAA
I hope it's true. He needs to get ab's down in Charlotte. I agree with Kal though, Anderson is done as a member of the White Sox.

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/29/07 (L)
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:42 PM) We need to hope he doesn't have an Aramis Ramirez type of season from last year where he struggled so much at the beginning of the season when Lee was out. He needs to pick it up now, as this offense has struggled for far too long this year. That's a fair point and I agree. Unfortunately, he's slumping now, but he's too good of a hitter, he'll get it going soon.
