  1. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) He's still right though. It was an awful slide. ucaneatit2
  2. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 07:48 PM) Grossman in, Forte in as 3rd down back, Olsen in, WRs Hester,Bennett,Davis,Bradley,Olsen Harrison in for Dvoracek and Anderson in for brown. Defense- start out the game blitzing, mix it up from where theyre coming from. If he starts getting you with dump off passes, switch to a straight cover 3 (important) and manually alter coverage to curl flats, on ps3 its triangle and down with the left analog stick. then take ogun and shift him over manually to get an outside rush, if he tries to throw a short pass they normally get picked off. The cover three is important because it wont give up a big play. It kind of is a bend but dont break defense but it creates a lot of turnovers and will never give up a big play, the more plays he runs the more likely he will make a mistake, big sack, pick etc. If youre playing a team with a big time WR like TO, always spotlight them, which is L2 and then whatever button that specific guy is on PS3. Offense, feel him out with some runs and safe passes. if he is playing man, obviously try to get hester in single coverage and let grossman pump fake it and launch it to him. That will only work once if at all. Then, see if he is playing man or zone, if its man, run constant outs with Olsen, he will always be open. If its zone, have olsen run go's, just make sure you hold down up and rifle it so its high and over any LBs head. Another great play is the screen to Hester thats in one of the single back formations. Its good for anywhere from 4 yards + at all times unless he is real savy and reads it manually with a safety. Thats some of the better stuff, ive got some other stuff if youre interested. Im on a rampage with this strategy online though. Im like 14-3 and have won 12 in a row. basically the offense is like a west coast, timing routes and always get rid of te ball quickly. Basically have a two man progression where youre reading a defender, and the second you know what hes doing get rid of it. Thanks. I am definitely giving this a shot. A few questions : You mention subbing Harrison in for Dvorcek, What do you think of Adams? Also you mention Olsen in, As TE or WR? What don't you like about booker? Does it hurt to have a set with Clark in as a TE and Olsen,Hester and Bennet at Wrs? Also an irrelevant question when it comes to strategy, but, any way to get the orange Unis during online play? Thanks Bomber!
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 01:07 AM) I just hope a year from now we aren't looking at Floyd/Danks on the DL cause right now they are two of the guys that have me most excited about where the franchise is headed. we need a thread like this one http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40143
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 12:43 AM) For the people that say it's up to the players to perform on the field, and management deserves no blame, this weekend is a situation where Ozzie should face a lot of scrutiny if Buehrle and Floyd suck. I pray for my sanity and this board's sanity that we don't have to discuss the effects of 3 days rest too much. I don't think I could watch the postseason if we blow this. We have too many advantages 1.5 Lead 3 vs KC while they have 3 vs Tampa Even if we are down .5 to end the year, we still have that game vs detroit AT HOME. Then we have the tiebreaker at HOME. This is ours to lose and I will hate baseball until at least spring training if we choke this one.
  5. I'm getting the Cotts against the Yankees feeling in 2003 all over again with this one.
  6. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) I had him in my top 10. I can also see a fan who prefers players more like Buerhle. More outgoing, less shy, less brooding. more white
  7. Every time this thread is bumped I check to see if it was for Ben Gordon. I can not believe it is the middle of September and still no news on a trade/signing.
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) When I used to go to soxfest every year he seemed to be the ONLY player that mattered to the fans.He is Whitesox Royalty. I would get there at 4 am for a 9am signing. Always well worth it. He always seemed sincere and happy to be there too. ( something I could not say for all the players.)
  9. Frank Thomas. The reason I fell in love with baseball. The reason I became a White Sox fan. He would have been a lot bigger but but 90-98 He was overshadowed by the Bulls Dynasty in Chicago. 98-2001 He was overshadowed by Sammy 'Corkin-cheatin' Sosa in Chicago. Frank should be 1 of only 10 players to EVER win 3 MVPs. (Thanks Giambi) The 1994 Strike screwed up what was in the verge of becoming one of the 5 greatest seasons in MLB history for a steroid free hitter. Injuries may have slowed down on what could have been a 600 hr 3,000 hit career Frank, I will never forget your 12 Homeruns in 105 abs during your final campaign as a member of the 2005 WORLD SERIES CHAMPION Chicago White Sox.
  10. at least Hughes is at 89 pitches in a game we are up 1-0

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) Didn't know you were engaged, congrats! I got married on October 14, 2006. Obviously that falls right in the playoffs. However, my wife knows my love of the White Sox and when we're in Vegas next month for our 2nd year Anniversary... you can damn well bet she'll encourage us to find a spot, lay down a bet, and get crazy! thanks, got engaged about a month ago. Yep, My fiance loves gambling too. Of course she wins $100 or more and plays penny slots while I lose big at the tables.
  12. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) Anyone play Madden online with the Bears? I think Ive found a strategy that garners consistent success. please share
  13. True story. I was so concerned of balding when I was 20, I bought rogaine on ebay. My hairline is the same 6 years later. But it did seem to change from ages 18-20. Everyone who knows about my story still gives me a hard time.
  14. QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) So Jim Thome has sucked this year? good point

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 06:42 PM) 2) It's a birthDAY not a birthWEEKEND. Tell her to calm the f*** down. haha classic! I taught my GF everything I know about the White Sox. She knows everything about the team and about baseball in general. We watch just about every game together. She is now worse than me when it comes to not missing a sox game (let alone playoff game.) She is now my fiance.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Maybe he meant the top (13)? Gavin has done a real good job as well as Danks. We have the pitchers if they would just be consistently as good as we think they can be umm no. I think a a 25 year old 16-7 sp, with a sub 4 era would be at or close to the top of any organizations top 3 franchise players.
  17. they need to make sure we are not terrorists
  18. QUOTE (YASNY @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 01:59 PM) Aug 24th though Sept 2nd. Ten games, on the road vs Boston, New York and Minnesota. OUCH I guess you thought the same too! lol OUCH!
  19. QUOTE (hawksox13 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) How about that 10 game road trip in August? 4 at Boston, 3 at NYY, and 3 at Minnesota. Ouch! Too funny. I can honestly say I typed the same thing in my open window without looking at your comment.
  20. Thoughts: That 10 game road trip in early april seems brutal. Prediction: Apil 27, The return of Ken Griffey Jr to Chicago. ( I predict he will sign with the mariners this off season.) Are we going to play the dodgers every year? Why do we never seem to play the mets? Seems boring to play the NL central , although likely good for our overall record. Redsox-Yanks-Twins 10 game road trip from 8/24- 9/2 . ouch The last 6 games of 2009 have the potential to be very important and tough at the same time. ( on the road vs Cle and Det)
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 12:59 AM) I was thinking the other day. Would it make sense to acquire Carson Palmer in the off-season. I haven't seen whats wrong in Cinncy but he always has impressed me but the Bengals have no running game, a horrid defense, and a terrible oline. This could be a perfect opportunity to buy a little low and get a guy who can be your QB for 4-6 years. If we landed Palmer it would be the happiest day for me as a bear fan since the Saints NFC championship game.
