QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 12, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) Right on. Power corrupts. It really does. I think these people all have the best of intentions when they get into politics, but then the money and the greed and the power gets to them, then it becomes a "how do I keep this power" type of thing rather then putting their constituents best interests at heart. I think it mainly derives from the party system. We should have listened to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson--political parties are garbage. As Jefferson once said-- "If I should go to heaven but with a party, then I shall not go at all." (or something really close to that)

QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 12, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) When will you people learn that they ALL are a bunch of corrupt bastards, Democrats AND Republicans, liberals AND conservatives? It cracks me up all you people who "hate Bush" and "hate Clinton". THEY ALL DO IT. Our government sucks and will continue to suck as long as they cater to the highest bidder, whether it is in "America's best interest" or not. Yep, agree 100%. I'm railing on Bush because he's the guy in office. It wouldn't matter if some bleeding-heart liberal were in charge, he/she'd be just as ethically bankrupt as the conservatives. This country doesn't suck, but our leadership does, on almost every level.

Pre-meditated wars fit in well with this jack-off's "Culture of Life" platform, don't they?

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 12, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) http://www.newshounds.us/2005/05/06/bizarr...e_rightwing.php See bolded portion. On May 5, anti-abortion extremist Neal Horsley was a guest on The Alan Colmes Show, a FOX News radio program. The topic was an interesting one - whether or not an internet service provider should allow Horsley to post the names of abortion doctors on his website. Horsley does that as a way of targeting them and one doctor has been killed. In the course of the interview, however, Colmes asked Horsley about his background, including a statement that he had admitted to engaging in homosexual and bestiality sex. At first, Horsley laughed and said, "Just because it's printed in the media, people jump to believe it." "Is it true?" Colmes asked. "Hey, Alan, if you want to accuse me of having sex when I was a fool, I did everything that crossed my mind that looked like I..." AC: "You had sex with animals?" NH: "Absolutely. I was a fool. When you grow up on a farm in Georgia, your first girlfriend is a mule." AC: "I'm not so sure that that is so." NH: "You didn't grow up on a farm in Georgia, did you?" AC: "Are you suggesting that everybody who grows up on a farm in Georgia has a mule as a girlfriend?" NH: It has historically been the case. You people are so far removed from the reality... Welcome to domestic life on the farm..." Colmes said he thought there were a lot of people in the audience who grew up on farms, are living on farms now, raising kids on farms and "and I don't think they are dating Elsie right now. You know what I'm saying?" Horsley said, "You experiment with anything that moves when you are growing up sexually. You're naive. You know better than that... If it's warm and it's damp and it vibrates you might in fact have sex with it." Another day, another idiot. -
Yah, good job by the Duke, and it's nice to see another brief losing streak come to an end. However, that inning where we had bases loaded and no outs, and scored only 1 run? Verrrry scarily reminiscent of past teams. Hopefully it's an aberration. Does Ozuna need more at-bats? At whose expense? Discuss.

The problem, IMHO, is that when Teddy R. gobbled up that land back in the early 20th century, it was done in the interest of keeping the lands pristine and untouched by development. This makes it a good idea for the gov't to have all that land. Whereas now, the gov't is using the land to cater to big business and private interests. This makes it a bad idea for the gov't to have all that land.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) I think a better question would be why does the government own 200 million acres of forest land? I believe the answer to that is so those lands would be protected from development. Oops.

QUOTE(mreye @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) There's 200 million acres of National Forest. Our kids will be just fine. You believe what you want, I'll go with the scientific viewpoint. You know, the educated opinion?

You know, people b**** about the Sox's OBP, and how they don't take enough walks. They win a game thanks to two walks, and now they b**** that we're getting lucky. The next game we win by 6-7 runs and hit 3 homers, they'll b**** that we're reverting back to the boom-or-bust offense again. Point is, it doesn't matter how you win, as long as you win. You can over-analyze for hours how wins are cheap, or fluky, or whatever.

Or is this you Steff? Firework blows up house, injures couple Tribune staff reports Published May 4, 2005, 10:03 AM CDT Authorities today are blaming alcohol and a firework for an overnight explosion that blew up a suburban house and injured two people, including a woman burned over half her body. The incident happened about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in a ranch house on the 0-100 block of East Main Street in southwest suburban Plainfield, fire investigators said. Authorities told CLTV a couple in their 40s had been drinking and were sitting in the front living room of the house when they allegedly decided to light a commercial firework they had obtained and possessed illegally. The couple then allegedly could not figure out how to extinguish the fuse, CLTV reported. The device exploded, damaging the house and setting it on fire. Neighbors heard the blast, called 911 and rushed to the scene. "I thought it was my girlfriend in an accident because they weren't home from work yet," one neighbor, Bobbie Meredith, told CLTV. Traffic in the vicinity was so backed up, she added, "I literally was driving through yards to get parked to make sure it wasn't my kids in a wreck." Emergency personnel arrived to find the house in flames and the couple standing outside the dwelling. Firefighters quickly doused the blaze. The couple sustained serious burns and initially were taken to hospitals in Joliet and Aurora, Plainfield Fire Chief John Eichelberger said. The woman subsequently was transferred to the burn unit at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood. Both victims were expected to recover from their injuries, CLTV reported. Carmen Morales, spokesman for Nicor, said the house did not have natural gas service at the time of the explosion. Eichelberger said the dwelling's electrical meter was locked, meaning there was no electricity to the home. Lights were on, however, in an attached garage. A for-rent sign was posted in the yard. Police tape surrounded the gutted residence today, and the arson unit of the Will County sheriff's department remained at the scene. No charges had been filed as of this morning.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) When I walk to the bus stop there are effects on animal life. We, as members of the world should take steps to reduce the proverbial footstep we leave on the earth. There will be effects on wildlife, everything is interconnected. Zero population growth. Bachelor's Grove was originally a cemetary used by German immigrants in the 1800's. It was also used as a dumping ground for the mob over the years as well. In my numerous visits to this and other "haunted" sites in Chicagoland(I used to give tours in college), I never heard nuthin', never saw nuthin', never felt nuthin'.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Calling Clarence Thomas an "Uncle Tom" is not a "moronic, paranoid, blanket comment"? I dont know who has more credibility issues the NAACP with their petty, stupid personal attacks or you. You can pucker up and kiss my ass......b****. You're a hypocritical douchebag. You started this by claiming "you just don't get it, do you?" Like I need a schmuck like you telling me what I get and don't get.
-
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) You dont get it do you? These are organizations who are not there to promote issues of blacks and women, they are there to promote a leftist agenda and thats about all. The fact that they do it under the guise of helping blacks and women is shameful. The NAACP is also the same organization who called Clarance Thomas an "Uncle Tom". This judge should wear a lack of support from these organizations as a badge of honor. I'm sorry, I didn't know you were such an expert on those organizations. Maybe you could enlighten us with some of your in-depth research, which could perhaps back up your moronic, paranoid, blanket comments.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) Yeah, if this is one example of Cheney's "nominees who are well qualified and broadly supported," then I'd hate to see the opinions on those nominees without such a groundswell of support. She's a black female lawyer without the support of either the NAACP or the NOW. She's a real winner I bet.

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) One small detail a lot of people who spew freedom and constitutional rights in this country seem to miss. Freedom and Anarchy are two different things. Freedom gives you the right to live as a law abiding citizen under the flag of a countries protection. It does not give you the right to speak whever you want. It does not give you the right to do whatever you want. Anarchy is the right to do whatever you want, including murder, rape, and general destruction of all mankind. Freedom sounds better, even if it's not the freedom we often think of. -y2 You might want to try getting your definitions straight. Anarchy is, by definition, the lack of government. Murder, rape, revelations, et al have nothing to do with anarchy. If I lived in a place with no government, I can assure you I would not suddenly embark on a killing spree or rape binge. Freedom and Anarchy are two different things, but so are apples and ferris wheels. To quote Will Ferrell's impersonation of Harry Caray when asked if he had been dead for a couple years-- "What's your point?"
-
QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) By that rational, he has the right to make idiotic statments (and I'm not saying that's what it as) due to the fact the constituation backs him on doing so, therefore you shouldn't have the right to refute or speak out against his statement. Not sure what I just said? I'll reword it: It's somewhat like saying a person has the right to create this picture of our President with a gun to his head but the law does not have the right to investigate it. It's no different than you questioning his 'statement'. The law is simply questioning it's hidden intent (if any such intent exists). Can't understand a word.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) It's saying that the hatred you are spouting about Texas is as narrow minded as the hatred spouted by these politicians. Yes, I hate all of Texas. Every single Texan is a heartless ignoramus. I can't wait until every resident soon has to say they live in Texico.
