  1. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Steve Stone says he will be traded any of you want the Sox to pick him up Huh, it's not like SD is loaded with hitting, I wonder why they want to move him?
  2. Now we're talking. A lefty too. OOOh, does he not speak english? Because that would be the icing on the cake.
  3. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) I've seen a lot of Gonzalez from following the Marlins and i would take him in a heartbeat. The guy is simply amazing in the field and has a decent bat too. It's come along some the past couple of years. He'll never hit .300 but he can give you more consistent numbers than Crede and Uribe will He is amazing in the field, but that's not our problem here. You say his bat has come along in the past couple of years, was that not including last season's .270 OBP, which was the WORST OBP IN BASEBALL? If that's what counts as "coming along" where did it come from?
  4. Alex Gonzalez? Alex freaking Gonzalez? He of the lifetime .292 OBP? You've got to be kidding me.
  5. When you consider how frighteningly similar our offense has been lately to the hated "Corpseball" from years past, I myself am very concerned. Also, wasn't it the '95 Angels that had a 10 game lead over Seattle on August 20th or so, only to blow it in the last month? This team is better than Corpseball teams of years past, especially in the pitching dept., but I'm not at all convinced that this is a set-in-stone playoff team. I don't care what the odds say.
  6. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) I'm surprised there was only reference to rowand batting fifth... last year when he was putting together a awesome second half wasn't he batting 1st or 2nd? this year he's been doing well when they put him in the two hole, but that's happened 3-4 times... i'm not sure of the exact # but he hasn't been batting 2nd enough... Great southside minds must think alike. I was pissed when I saw Rowand batting 6th? yesterday, since he had been hitting so well lately batting in the 3 spot. It seems like whenever they bump him down to 5th or 6th, he doesn't hit nearly as well. With the way Frank's swinging the bat, I'd rather have him bat 4, Rowand bat 2, move Gooch to 3rd, and switch Konerko and Dye.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) The storm has arrived in Oakbrook. Yes, it most definitely has!
  8. i'm falling off my chair, this site is fantastic
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) I just believe, that after these four long years, Jon has figured it out and has become the pitcher we all hoped he'd become. In a "win or go home" game, I'd give the ball to Garland over Hernandez. I completely agree with you on the first part--but the playoffs is a different animal. I'd rather go with someone who's proven they can get it done in a playoff situation, over someone that hasn't. The same rule applies to Buehrle, but I trust Buehrle--i don't trust Garland. If we're both right, that's 2 Sox playoff victories, and that's a good thing
  10. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) So by your logic we should discount all performances this year by either player, and only look at their past performance? Now thats funny Wong. I'm not discounting what's going on this year at all. But as the saying goes, those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) By God, I'd bet on Garland over Hernandez. Does the expression "That was then, this is now" mean anything to you? Because Garland wasn't known as a mental case before this season? This means something: ERA W-L IP hits ER BB K 2.65 9-3 0 0 0 102.0 76 30 51 101 They'll both start, so I hope we're both right
  12. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) What? Then who is? Garland has been just fine. Ah, what fine long-term memories you people possess. HAs he earned the right to start? Absolutely. Will he start? Definitely. If I had to bet my money on either a playoff game that Garland starts vs. one that El Duque starts do I bet on Garland's game? Nope, not a chance.
  13. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) you think el duque would start over buehrle, garland, garcia, or contreras? I say hello middle relief when post season comes, you dont bench an arm like one of those. Contreras won't see the field if Hernandez is healthy. Garland isn't exactly a rock at this point either.
  14. 1) Hernandez was making his first start in a few weeks on a night when the ball was FLYING out of the park. Under those circumstances, he did fine. Don't look at him as a 5th starter, think playoffs. They won't be using 5 starters come playoff time, and you better believe a guy with his postseason track record(in NY, no less) is going to get one of those slots if he's healthy. I'd rather have him than 100% of #4 starters in MLB, especially in a playoff series. 2) Cotts won't ever be a starter because he only has 2 pitches, and neither of them are dominant. Same would go for Adkins
  15. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) During the 11:00 update on Silvy and Carmine, the update guy mentioned Hermanson's back, and said Jon Adkins could be coming up. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Adkins will be fine, I'm not sure why he wasn't up here sooner.

    Hey...

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) Hell, I'd like to see him back, period. But I know that's just me. Brando i'd like to see him back myself
  18. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:07 AM) You have lots of groups saying they will protest at the Republican national convention. Why SHOULDN'T the FBI look into them just to make sure there are no terrorists among them. What better place to wreak havok that at the convention? They are going there to protest, and we all know how the peace-loving liberal protesters can be anything but peaceful while protesting. Not sure about the ACLU, though, unless they were trying to see if terrorist groups may have been funneling them money to fight Bush? No clue on that one. That only makes sense if 1) The gov't is keepting tabs on ALL organizations, both pro and con, or 2) We have confirmation that terrorists are retarded. If I'm a terrorist, and I want to cause problems at the RNC, would I associate with a rabble-rousing group of protesters, sure to draw attention, or would I get in with some non-descript pro-Republican group that would conceivably get me closer to places/people where I could cause more damage?
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Alright, I got my new iPod Mini in the mail today (free, because if you buy a computer through the Apple education store, it comes free) and I'm trying to figure out.....the software agreement says the iPod CD can only be used on one computer. I want to wait to put that on my new laptop. But in the meantime, can I download music from this computer on to there without that installation, if I am currently running a Mac? Thanks. If I understand your question to be--Can you download music from your current computer onto your Ipod without installing Itunes, I believe the answer is no.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) From what I hear (and this is total rumor) they refinanced the home they already own together to do this. No effing way I would do this. No way.. I know Mike, your rumor is true from what I know

  23. Baldwin had an outstanding 1st half in 2000. I think he had 10 or 11 wins by the ASB.
