QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) 18 Home Starts, 11 HR 14 Road Starts, 12 HR He had to face the Texas offense 3 times (5 HR in those 3 starts), and was a hole 3.1 IP from reaching 200. Like I said, I'd welcome him back as 4th starter. He's a perfect 4th starter because he eats valuable innings (saves the pen and the young guys) and also has the capability to rattle off a good #2-3 starter type of year if everything happens right. I think you could grab Garland for 3 years 25 million.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 12:03 PM) Of all the pro athletes I have met, the nicest have been hockey players, followed closely by football. I dont know, i've met a ton of asshole hockey players. I would think golfers would top the list. -

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 11:45 AM) Not condoning the drug use or anything, but Gordon should probably keep his piehole shut. He didn't mention any names, but was it worth it to mention anyway? Not really. But thats not inconsistent with how he comes off to me anyway. He seems kinda like a whiny prick to me, but thats based on outside judgement. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Tracy Abrams (class of 2011) to Illinois. That kid is big time and he is good friends with Shaw, Blackshear and Thompson. Recruiting is so fun to follow right now, Illinois is going to be absolutely loaded. You'll have some good competition in the Big Ten -
Might want to cross Brian Giles off the wish list

QUOTE (qwerty @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) It really needs to be said... Mlbtraderumors f***ing blows... they are not nearly up to date as people want to believe. Dude is a hack... What dude exactly? He really doesnt write anythin of value, he is basically a correlation engine for all MLB rumors from other sources. -
I really liked his comment about lowering K-rods price by showing other closers are available. I wonder if thats what Kenny told him.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) They're all waiting for Teixeira to sign, and then the dominoes will fall from there. Unfrotunately with Bora$$ as his agent, that could be quite a while from now. Thats what the media is saying, but with the value of his contract being what it is, I dont think it affects the mid and lower level FA's at all.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) Agreed. But despite sucking last season and never coming close to repeating 2005, my guess is that he won't take a pay-cut. He'll probably have to no matter what he wants.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 01:37 PM) I read something pretty interesting today, where some teams just don't know how the weakened economy will affect them, and teams with big-time players who are well-paid may have to give these players up for pennies on the dollar during the season. It would mean a couple things for the White Sox. First, if they plan on trading a guy like JD and expect to get anything for him, they probably need to do it before the season starts. Also, the good news, after 2009, they really don't have very mucthey should be able to acquire.h in guaranteed money on their books. They may be in a position to acquire one or two or a few of these players. Thats the thing. KW is waiting for the fallout to hopefully add some players and possibly trade a little bit. The economy is hurting alot of companies right now, and many are just now in budget planning for next year. Baseball is the same way, the free agent market hasnt even begun to shake out. Why do you think its taking so long for these uber talented players to come off the board?
-
Rest assured that KW is still trying to add players but not salary. Players like Abreu etc have found out their price tags are not going to be met and will come down in cost and years. I still expect some action to happen before xmas.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 08:38 AM) The bad press for Indiana basketball continues: Eric Gordon says some of his Hoosier teammates last year [no names mentioned; current players exonerated] were on dope. Kelvin Sampson tried to stop it, but was too focused "on winning and everything" [his cell phone?]. http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/11178479 I'm not a huge IU fan, but I feel sorry for Tom Crean. That's one more distraction he doesn't need. They said Crean knew about the drug problem before he took the job and it was part of his plan to force out offenders. I assume its just a huge weed problem. -
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 07:44 AM) Let's be honest with ourselves -- this guy is awesome with women. Even before Stacy Peterson's disappearance made the news he had already been married three times. And from I've seen/heard, especially with Stacy, these women aren't exactly ugly or crazy. This new one probably is, though. A girl who gets sucked in by a guy like this is most likely crazy. Those are the kind of girls a sociopath like this pray on.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Not right away, give him until after Thanksgiving of his freshmen year. He is just fun to watch. He is almost unchallenged at the varsity level. Obviously he will have to adjust to college. I really want to see the kid play. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Not sure how I forgot about him. Trust me, when he was hired it was just as much as a surprise as when UM hired Bo. OSU brought in this local guy from YST to replace a coach who we all hated, but was decently successful with his teams and brought in a high level of talent. Tress proved that winning at another level is still winning and it can be carried over as you move up. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) Clayton's OPS in his first year with us, .708 Cabrera with us, .705 I admit, Cabrera is a different batter, more contact and higher average but less power than Clayton, but they still are very similar in OPS, which to me tells alot. My personal opinion is that he couldve done much better with the Sox, and his attitude from the start never impressed me so I will hold a bias against him. So you had to dig deep to find a number that would support your Clayton claim. Im not sure if you met him somewhere and didnt like his attitude or something, but the guy played hard and well for this team IMO. I was much more frustrated with the actions and attitude on the field of Konerko, Swish, Crede, Boone, Dotel, Javy than OC. -

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 06:42 PM) don't forget he was a jerk... that said, i don't really hate him that much, i just don't mind him going elsewhere Dont forget alot of the reports of him being a jerk was from a pretty awful sports writer who carries grudges with several players and has fallen far out of favor of the White Sox organization...... And O-cab isnt going to the Dodgers because they signed Furcal. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 06:30 PM) Why? We had high expectations for the guy, and he came here, didn't fit in, was overrated defensively, was as bad as ROYCE CLAYTON at the plate for the majority of the year, that to me gives plenty of reasons to hate the guy. You obviously didnt watch many sox games this year. Offensively he stepped into a role he doesnt really fit in and had a pretty good season. Royce Clayton's career numbers are .258 .312 and OC put up a .281 .334 for us. After a slow start he put up a pretty good second half .298 .343 and as our leadoff hitter he put up .293 .341. I would say he was one of our better players this season. There is pretty much no reason to hate the guy, he did what he could for this team and now he's gone with compensation for us. -
QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 08:47 PM) The more I've been thinking about it, the more I like the idea of bringing Garland back. He's only 29, and has consistently been a solid big league pitcher and innings eater his whole career, and has shown the ability to step up in the big game. His value is relatively low right now, and I think it'd be reasonable to say we could get him on a deal of something like 3 years, 27-30 million. Also, a thing that might help is him possibly getting more work with the 5th starter job likely filled by a rookie, and Danks and/or Floyd possibly do for a down year. Garland getting less rest would help his sinker a lot, IMO, and make him more effective. I would not mind a rotation of: 1. Buehrle 2. Floyd 3. Danks 4. Garland 5. Poreda (I hope he wins the job as I think CR would have a lot more success in a long relief type of role) I like it too because he helps save the bullpen, but it just wont happen. I dont see KW bringing him back whatsoever although I hope Buehrle is in his ear about it.

More info: http://www.answers.com/topic/channelopathy Here is study done on patients with this disorder that lead to chronic fatigue http://phoenix-cfs.org/The%20SITE/RNaseChannelStudy.htm

I still cant figure out where is says this can be cured. It says more treatable than the potentially fatal disorder he originally was diagnosed with. He is still not going to be an every day player. http://blogs.tampabay.com/rays/2008/12/baldelli-an-enc.html In doing some research on this group of disorders, I've also found that although treatable, it never goes away and can be triggered by cold weather. There seem to be several different flavors of this disease affecting many different parts of the body.

QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) I like how 2010 looks for my Heels as well. With Bullock & Marshall already committed, getting either Roscoe Smith or Harrison Barnes will make it another SPECIAL class for Roy. Lance Stephenson is said to have his choices unofficially down to Kansas or St. Johns. For awhile it seemed like he might follow Jennings to Europe for a year, but that looks doubtful now. He is only averaging 34 a game so far in NYC this year. I was mostly saying that because the Buckeyes have literally nobody committed for 2009 but have a top class for 2010. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) Um, because the problem he has can be cured, thus he WILL have the energy. Are there examples of what his improvement would be? Its seems fishy to me that he was always injured, has no energy and cannot recover from stress on his body quickly and all of a sudden as he hits free agency they say he has something that is minor and curable? Tampa has been looking for solutions to his problem for years, and only NOW they determine its something else. I call complete bulls*** and I dont think much will change in his performance at all. There is no miracle "energy and recovery" solution that I know of.
