  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) I'm certainly not hating on him for his performance last night but there's a pretty decent chance he'll become Sean May in the NBA. May was pretty damn awesome in college as well. Everything and I mean everything about Sullinger, reminds me of Sean May. Everything like what? Certainly not statistics or actual results. As Freshman Sean May 11 points 8 reb 47% FG 57 % FT Jared Sullinger 17 points 10 reb 54%FG 70% ft national freshman of the year. Heres a better comparison (pretty decent chance) 13.4 points 7.3 reb 59% fg 60% FT Thats Elton Brand as a freshman In case you were wondering the impact the players actually had on their teams in comparison: May: 125 points 89 rebounds Brand: 281 points 154 rebounds Sullinger: 635 points 377 rebounds
  2. I think that sounds like a good kid to me, not an idiot.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) How about this: admit your team, which lost in the sweet 16 in one of the worst years in recent college basketball history for top teams/in general, wasn't nearly as good as you thought it was. Because the fact is, that's what actually happened. You dominated a Big 10 which had 5 teams lose in the first weekend of the tournament, and zero make the elite 8. Ohio State was a fraud, as was the entire Big 10. You can explain all you want about their season, but top teams are judged on what they do in the tournament. I'm not being a hater considering the facts are on my side. And we'll see about Sullinger and Buford. Thomas coming back makes sense, but Sullinger is an idiot if he passes up being a top 5 pick to return and risk more NBA scouts realizing he's Sean May part 2. I'm not sure exactly what Buford's status is. I think he's a late 1st round type guy, and it'd make sense for him to come back if he can't get a first round promise from somebody. If he does get information that says he'd be a first round pick and comes back though, he risks losing that guaranteed contract as a 1st rounder. I think he's a classic guy who'd be smart to test the waters. LOL, no, I wouldnt want to admit something that wasnt true, my team played a bad game and got bounced, they still dominated the #2 RPI conference in the country and beat several teams that were still left standing as of this weekend. Its fine you dont like OSU, not many people do. It's hard to call a team with one of the best post players in the country, the best 3 point shooter in the country, one of the best freshman and 6th men in the country and 2 other NBA players a fraud. And Sean May part 2 huh? It took Sean May 3 years to do what Sullinger did his freshman year. May was a stellar 11-8 guy when he was Sullinger's age, and even at his prime in college, he still was only a 17-10 guy and was surrounded by ridiculous talent. If he stays, I dont think its stupid at all, in fact I wish more kids would value the college experience over taking the dollars just because you MAY steal some money by having a good year.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 01:58 AM) Yeah that'd be awfully stupid. I assume it was a heat of the momemt comment after a hard loss. He's been saying it all season, so has his family.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) Not going to laugh at you since that's a hard loss to swallow, but no. They were a fraud that a good team could beat if they played them properly, and Kentucky did the trick. I've noticed quite a few people were with me and had this happening too, so I really can't call it a shocker. People were trying to make good teams like Duke and Ohio State into great teams when they just were not. They were good but very beatable teams, and now, not surprisingly at all, both are gone. I thought Kansas was the best team in this tournament going in, but really, they're flawed too. Everybody is. Fortunately for Kansas, the road to the title game was paved, so they should be there. The other side of the bracket should be a blast though with four evenly matched teams left. Total bulls***, but you are entitled to your opinion if if its slightly haterish. OSU is not a fraud in any sense of the word, they started 4 probable NBA players and just had the worst shooting night of the season. William Buford went 2 or 16, something he never does, and they missed countless layups and open shots. OSU has played better defensive teams throughout the season and just had a letdown game after two of the most dominant games of the tournament. I'm sure you think a tournament loss like that all of a sudden makes up what a team has accomplished the entire season, and thats fine, but thats just not the case. There probably hasnt been a "great" team by anyones standards since Florida repeated as champs, but this one one of the best OSU teams i have ever seen and that includes a team that went to the national title game. They were one of the most if not the most complete team in the country. with Sullinger, Buford and Thomas all saying they are coming back after the game, I feel pretty good about next year anyway when they can make a run at another conference title and still be considered "not that good."
  6. Took their worst game of the season for uk to win. f***ing shame, this team was one of the best.
  7. Ah Kentucky is going to get the duke treatment tonight, yeah they can mug whoever they want.
  8. My sources in Columbus say they would be very surprised to see Pryor, Posey and Tressell associated with OSU by the time all of the real information comes out.
  9. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) The point is that people who play or have played the game are often too close to it to really analyze it without a certain bias. That's true in any sport and any league. The Kwame Brown bit was a joke than more than anything. I know, we should definitely respect the opinion of someone who hasnt even watched 10 percent of the guy's games instead. MUCH better sample size to analyze.
  10. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) Just like all those baseball purists that have vehemently defended Derek Jeter's defense over the years Baseball is obviously a much more individually based game than basketball, but stats are there for a reason. There's no problem with supplementing what you see with statistical evidence, and the thought of ignoring them all together is just ridiculous IMO. Also, Michael Jordan drafted Kwame Brown. There goes that point.. LOL, baseball analogies and Kwame Brown in the same post?
  11. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Probably about the same as I've watched the Magic.. 5 or 6 games? I'm generally too busy watching a terrible team play instead Which is why you are pointing to stats as an indicator of a deserving MVP candidate. Teams change their defense based on Rose just as much as Howard. In fact alot of teams will let Howard get his while just worrying about the other players. There is a reason that most of the star players and the greatest player of all time voiced their opinions in favor of Rose. Most likely because they've seen more than 5 games.
  12. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) I'm happy that the Bulls are doing well this year, and they certainly are having a fantastic season. No one expected them to be this good this year, and it's been amazing to see. I'm really looking forward to their trip to Minnesota on Wednesday, if only because I think they're a really fun team to watch. But none of this gives any reason at all why Rose is a better candidate for MVP than Howard. Rose is having a great season, and I don't think anyone is trying to take anything away from that, but there is a very real, a very deserving case that can and should be made for Howard as MVP. Rose is the best player on the floor in every game the Bulls play. Best team, best player, MVP.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) I was just reading a different article about the same thing. It reminds me that the tax rates mean nothing if there are enough ways to reduce the rate. Most of the companies I work with around the area (Huge ones) are tax exempt on all purchases.
  14. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 11:33 AM) Plus it's not like I'm opening a new line of credit every time I buy something either. I just get a few small things every so often to keep the card active and when it comes time to make a large purchase, I have the no interest financing available already. My point was more towards people that open new cards or lines frequently. For example if you want to get an auto loan and decide to apply to 10 different banks, your credit will actually lower as you apply. Its a catch-22, you can go out and look for rates, but the more you look, the worse your rates COULD get.
  15. I called his walk off in Game 2 against the Angels before he came to bat. Loved Crede.
  16. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) It's never been a problem for us. We make all our payments on time and have always had a really good credit score. Applying for credit too frequently will lower it regardless of balance however.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) I think if they're a bottom dweller next year you might start seeing some boo birds come out. My Indiana friends were pretty upset that they weren't very competitive this year and didn't make much of a jump. Especially since alot of the conference is rebuilding next year, they shoudl be able to make a large improvement.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 01:02 AM) Ehh I wouldn't go that far. They have enough talent to be a one and done, 8 to 11 seed type team. But overall, they're doing this because Brad Stevens is an absolute freaking genius, and an incredible tournament situation coach. I didn't think they had the talent to beat Wisconsin tonight, but Butler was just relentless on defense until they stopped playing a little too early. Florida has better players than Butler, but so did Wisconsin, Pitt, and Old Dominion. So who the heck knows what'll happen Saturday. If Butler can manage to make the Final Four two years in a row....I don't even know what to say. I didn't think it was possible for a Horizon League team to do such a thing. For them to even have gone this far after last year is something. Brad Stevens is in the position now to be VERY picky with where he goes. He should just laugh and hang up if places like Tennessee or Missouri call him, and wait for a legit superpower, top 5 or 10 program to call with a Brinks truck full of money. Because that will eventually happen. Although what the heck, he's a local boy, he seems very happy, seems like a pretty simple guy...maybe he wants to say. I mean, a Title Game and (at least) Elite 8 appearance in back to back years? Butler isn't a superpower, but they aren't far away from it right now. And they've passed Xavier and Gonzaga for best non-BCS program in America. And you can't say he couldn't win a National Title there after how close they were last year. Although I complimented Butler....this is another Wisconsin loss against a lower seed when the bracket set up well for them. They've done it far too often. And I think it's hard to argue with the idea that BYU beats Florida with Brandon Davies on the floor. Unfortunate. I still don't fully buy what Florida is selling, and I wouldn't be shocked if Butler beats them at all. He is a good coach, but he didnt magically make Wisconsin go absolutely cold on open shots all night.
  19. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) 2012.. He'll be there, he's assembling something amazing... Actually if I were the rest of the bigten, I'd hope to god he's there because if hes not.... I don't think you'd wanna see what Brad Stevens could do with 4 and 5 star players... Exactly my point. IU fans clearly will expect conference titles and tournament runs. How quickly will names like the one you just dropped come into the picture.
  20. Bo needs to pull the ball switch and put one of their balls in there.
  21. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) These late games are getting out of hand. Duke and Wisconsin both look like they want to go home. Duke is at least playing well.
