When you are a bad team, you take your swings on upside. So very few centerfielders can hit. Its a name that you know. And honestly, he seems like a good dude. Just can't produce or stay healthy consistently.

Just want to say I love watching Luis Robert Jr. He is just a fun player. And the white sox are finally having other players who are fun. From just a watching standpoint, he helps me watch a white sox game. They still suck but its more of a fun suck. f*** you Jerry. -
Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.

Judging from the Mullins return, lets just hold onto him. We have zero payroll going into next year. If he bounces back to a plus 800 hitter, he will be worth so much more. I know thats a big IF, but the alternative is the Cedric Mullins return which is blah anyways. -
I hope Colson will be our McKenzie Gore. At some point, Gore was a can't-miss prospect. Then he went through a few years where he had trouble throwing in the strike zone. Even after his call-up, he was not exactly dominant. A bunch of publications soured on his likelihood of being a successful starter. However, he was given time to adjust and now is pitching like many thought he would at the beginning of his minor league career. I know pitchers are different than position players. However, I think this is a good example of why rushing guys to the big leagues with a small amount of success is rarely a good thing. At some point, there is development that needs to happen, and better in the minor leagues than in the big leagues. I think this is what killed Andrew Vaughn. He had a small amount of minor-league success but the White Sox were such in a rush to get him here, he never truly developed.

Burke loooks really good! Lets trad'em....

This is fine. We have a stockpile of quality pitching.

Question is would Getz get more now if he waited on Crochet?

Fedde/Pham/$ to STL, Kopech to LAD, Miguel Vargas + prospects to Sox

Kind of says we gave Christian Mena away for nothing. But, I am happy for the salary relief. -
So are we thinking Sloan?
-
So who are we liking that could be steal in the next couple of picks. Does anybody know who they have been linked too? Does anybody think they saved a couple hundred thousand by making a deal with Smtih? Sorry, I am not an expert so just curious on who you guys think would be the next move.

I don't mind Cags. I think 5-10 years ago getting a bat first, first basemen seemed like a waste as there would always be good 1B. However, If he can hit then lets take him because nobody hits now. A good hitting first baseman is no longer the norm on teams anymore. Its not like the White Sox have an abundance of them because if they did we sure s%*# wouldn't be trotting out Sheets and Vaughn for 1000 at bats a year. Basically, If you think he will hit the bombs then take him. I would rather have that then a defensive SS that is going to have .680 OPS.

Thanks for the info. Sucks. Hopefully he comes back healthy after the break.
-
Does anybody know what is happening with Grant Taylor? He was pitching really well and didnt see an update.
-
I have no problem with it. What pitcher in the minors would you take over Schultz? If he stays healthy to the offesason he is going to be top 10 Prospect in Baseball.
-
Ky Bush getting touched a bit right now. I think it was a poor decision for him to come out of the pen in his first AAA game. Seems like an odd decision.

The Sox could say we will pay the remainder salary this year but the other team takes on the buyout. However, I hate the idea of pushing him. To me the players health comes before Jerry Wallet. However, Jerry may not see it that way.

GMs skeptical teams meet price for Robert
kwill replied to southsider2k5's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Here is the way I look at it. Robert is the best position players in the next 12 months to change teams. There is nobody I would rather want to sign long term than Robert that is a free agent and nobody I would want to trade for who would be available in the next 12 months. Things can change but I do not forsee it. I would take him over Bregman and Alonso long term value. Maybe you could say Bo Bichette however he hasnt exactly been tearing the cover off the ball this year. So if this is the case, why would I sell for anything less than top of the market return. -
This seems like a shot at Pedro.

I like watching Garrett Crochet pitch and Luis Robert at bats( very few guys in the lineup that I could say this about). I'm not against trading them for elite prospects back. I am against trading them for a bunch of mid tier prospects. That doesn't add up to me.
-
To be clear, I would only trade either Crochet or Robert if I felt like we were getting the better end of the deal. The truth is I am bored with the White Sox so what else is there to do than come up with trade proposals. They are a hard watch/ follow right now. How many guys are honestly on the current roster that will actually be on the next playoff roster. Maybe 2?

Here is another one I thought of with the Rangers for Crochet. Rangers seem like a nice spot since Daniels is generally pretty agressive. Rangers Get: Garrett Crochet White Sox Get: Evan Carter Kumar Rocker Jack Lieter Most of the value comes from Evan Carter in this situation. Another former high prospect who is out with a back injury for them. Rocker and Lieter were big names coming out of college but really havent produced much. I kind of attribute part of Vandy making all of their starters throw 130 pitches in one start. Lieter has not been good at all since being drafted. He struggeld with walks at Vandy as well but struck out so many guys it didnt ever matter. However, That s%*# doesnt fly wheh you are a pro. The Sox this year are having success with arms so maybe you can turn him into a mid-rotation guy. Rocker- I am actually pretty high on. He's had arm injuries post college but he could be straight dominent once he gets over them. Still its a pretty large question mark.

I hear this. The optimist in me just believe they understand the value of cost controlled players. At some point you have to push your chips in the middle of the table.

I kind of based this trade off of the return for Sale Jackson Holliday= Moncada ( Both are 1 or 2 overall) Coby Mayo= Michael Kopech ( Both are somehwere between 15-25) Chase McDermott= Basabe ( Both are probably between 110-125) Seth Johnson= Diaz ( Both are just hopeful bullpen options) Both McDermott and Johnson are going to be rule 5 eligeable soon so Baltimore will hit a 40 man crunch. I get that GMS value prospects more than ever. Fedde is a nice mid-rotation piece for them for the next 1.5 years. You can view Kopech as a possability of getting it right with a different organization. To me, A deal like this is the only deal I would accept. Robert doesn't have to be traded. He could have the same value now that he will this winter. So a team should have to overpay or else just keep him.
