  1. They'll probably replace all the coaches with the exception of Daryl Boston who is "untouchable."
  2. I look forward to a great 2024 season with our elite third baseman, our modern day Jackie Robinson, and our 40+ HR DH as our young championship core.
  3. And so ends the era of the "young championship core" with the "multiple championships window." They never did "flip that switch."
  4. But the man could sing! I remember they let him sing the National Anthem several times.
  5. I was at a Sox game with my Dad back in those days when the announced attendance was something like 512 people. If I'm not mixing up two different games, I think it was the game that Buddy Bradford playing CF, caught a ball over his head right at the Center Field fence, extended his arm over the fence, opened his mitt and the ball fell out over the fence for a home run. I was just a kid, but I remember being so mad I told my Dad that from now on Ken Berry should be starting every game in Center Field. Even so, that team was still more fun to watch than the 2023 White Sox.
  6. That's one reason why Carl Everett was one of my favorites.
  7. I think AJ's future is in the broadcasting booth. I'd love to have him be the White Sox TV color man. But the Sox would have to have a new owner that wouldn't fire him for being honest.
  8. First thing they need to do is acquire a young, inexpensive power hitting third baseman with about six years of control.
  9. Other than the two games against the Cubs in August, I haven't watched a second of White Sox baseball since the trade deadline. Don't miss it a bit.
  10. Cab Calloway - The heppest cat that ever lived!
  11. Some here said he was a microcosm of all that is wrong with this team. In reality he was what little was right with this team.
  12. Roland Hemond was great. Sox could use a guy like him now.
  13. I'd be ecstatic if they would just get rid of Daryl Boston.
  14. Carl Everett was one of my favorites.
  15. Thanks Lip. I was confusing this incident with the Ligue/Gamboa incident. Thanks for clearing that up!
  16. That's how I remember it. But when I was searching the internet to find confirmation of that fact last night I couldn't come up with anything. Every result I found referenced Gamboa being assaulted by "fans" or White Sox fans." No mention of the Ligues drinking at Wrigle Field during a day game that same afternoon although that's what I remember.
  17. Waller said the police department initially requested that the game be halted after the shooting was discovered. The White Sox said Saturday that they were not aware at first that a woman injured during the game was shot, and that the Chicago Police Department would have stopped play if officers thought it was unsafe to continue. Hmmmmm.....
  18. There was no indication there was "someone firing bullets into the park from the outside." What happened appeared to be an isolated incident, one stray bullet from the outside. They found one bullet and no one else noticed anything going on. I'm sure security was alerted and they were probably monitoring the area for any sign of an active shooter situation but all was calm. You nor I really don't know what they were doing behind the scenes Will you ever take your two sons to Guaranteed Rate Field again? Because if it happened once it could happen again. And it could happen anywhere, even in the best of areas. It sucks, but living is a risk.
