QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 08:44 AM) You know, I really don't care if Sarah Palin decided to sell the jet on eBay or not. Nor do I care, much, about her standing up to the bridge to nowhere. I also don't care if that trooper gets fired, and in fact, it sounds like he needed to be. These are all very minor things. But what is building up to be an actual issue is the fact that the McCain/Palin campaign is just plain lying about these things. Repeatedly. They are being dishonest about them. And that bothers the hell out of me. Except that the Jet didnt sell on Ebay - did you catch that part of the story?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) LOL...speaking of celebrities and their role in politics, check out this snippet from Matt Damon: And Yes, I agree, most celebrities should be ignored when voicing their political opinions. EDIT: And when I say "ignored" I mean that their opinions shouldn't sway voters. But he's got a point, no?

Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?
longshot7 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Filibuster
what has Biden received a free ride on? Palin is facing scrutiny because she's a complete unknown. Biden isn't and has been vetted prior to this. What do you feel we need to know about him? -

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) Actually, I was watching CNN last night and they said Palin supported the 'bridge to nowhere'. they actually covered about 8 times in 2 hours of news. i would say 90 minutes of the two hours of coverage I watched was dedicated to attacking Palin. Now, that might not be a high enough ration for some. now if she was for it while she was running for Governor and against it now, how is pointing that out "bias"? Isn't it just truth-telling? -
Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?
longshot7 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Filibuster
genius, all we want is the truth reported. is that so much to ask? -
Palin doesn't need to be swiftboated - she's a total disaster with just reprinting the truth about her record. She's not a fiscal conservative (spending, earmarks, lobbyists, etc.) She's lied on the stump repeatedly (the bridge, plane, chef, etc.) She believes the Iraq War was sanctioned by God. She's against abortion even in the cases of rape & incest. She supports corrupt GOP Senator Ted Stevens. Troopergate is real. There's no media bias here - someone who is this bad at her job after only a year and a half is not a good choice for VP. The choice is clear.

2008 General Election Discussion Thread

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) Is this comparable to being a member of a black nationalist church for 20 years? Not when your campaign slogan is "Country First" and she doesn't want to be a part of this country. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 01:17 PM) GO ME! One of my YouTube videos made it onto TalkingPointsMemo!! I e-mailed them with the link at 3:40 PM. Less than 40 minutes later it was up and with a story! UPDATE: They have since replaced my video with a re-YouTubed version with TPM branding. Sweet!

2008 General Election Discussion Thread

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) What is he centrist on? His tax plan is the definition of income redistribution, his economic plans contain some pretty far-left ideas (windfall tax), he is in favor of strong gun control (handgun bans, licensing, registering, etc.), and he seems pretty left on environmental issues (good thing, imo). I don't know his stances on all of the social issues, but he seems pretty left on those, too. Most Americans favor Universal Health Care - so does Obama. Most Americans want to get out of Iraq asap - so does Obama. Most Americans want Social Security to be fixed - so does Obama. Most Americans want Bin Laden to be caught - so does Obama. Most Americans want a higher tax rate for millionaires - so does Obama. Most Americans want the new energy alternatives explored - so does Obama. Most Americans want some forms of gun control - so does Obama. etc etc etc. Seems pretty Centrist to me. The problem is the Right doesn't want what most Americans want - they want what a select few want. And that's not democracy. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 02:48 PM) top 50 juicers too, just behind geovany soto not that there's anything wrong with that. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 04:44 AM) The sound you heard would be that of the Democrats self-distructing. Its been interesting to watch exactly how helpless Obama's camp has been in dealing with a defeated Clinton camp. He whipped her, and he STILL can't put her to rest. She is still holding influence over every step of the process, including forcing her way into the convention and being put on the ballot there. It is amazing. I wonder what the backroom dynamic is that won't allow them to get rid of the Clintons? Ha! I think it shows strength. He's not afraid of them. Let them have their moment. After all, she did have a sizable primary votecount and he is a former President. I think the R's are worried, and they should be.

But they don't check from state to state. Only within a state.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) Certainly took long enough. This is an excellent move from a business perspective for MSNBC, and frankly she's excellent on the air. It will of course annoy the Republicans, but Hell, they've got Fox. I love Rachel, but I feel bad for Abrams. his show is great too - they should just have her replace "Race for the White House", which is pretty bland. If they have a choice between the two, I vote Abrams > David Gregory.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 07:11 AM) I was in the same situation in Missouri. I registered in Missouri. Check if there is a democratic office or an Obama office in your town and I'm sure they can help. vote in both. they don't check.

No way Taker loses in his return - both men looked great. what's the problem? And Punk jobbing to Y2J in Chicago is pathetic, but Vince loves to humiliate guys in their hometowns. The Santino promo is supposed to be on wwe.com.

I happen to like Soxtalk as it is, but there's other Sox message boards out there besides the one you mentioned if you seek a different vibe. There's room for all of us.

TCQ-- not just any CQ, but THE CQ.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 11:52 AM) All highlighted players were important parts of the World Series team, characterizing them as "whatever" moves does them quite a disservice. Also, a deadline deal for another player that helped win the world series was Esteban Loaiza for Jose Contreras in the last hour before the deadline. they actually weren't important parts of that team - they were incidental parts. 2005!!

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 12:54 PM) CQ get a curtain call? That's TCQ (because after all he is THE Carlos Quentin), and yes, he did.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) When Edge came out, I kind of thought this was going to happen. RVD is the only guy to legit use the MITB. the way Punk used it seems like a heel move, but I still popped for it. Cool to see a local boy go through the ranks and be on top...for now. You are crazy. This is exactly how MITB should be used. Winning is winning, no matter how or when you do it.

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) Ocab Walk I want a CQ Homer You mean TCQ homer, I'm sure.
