  1. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) I think I'll head to the Smackdown tapings this Tuesday and post the spoilers just for Longshot7. I could be worse. Imagine he starts a feud with Khali for the title after Judgment day? Ha! Regular spoilers don't usually bother me - but title changes do. And since we don't have a spoilers thread and a non-spoilers thread, we should all be mindful that not all like to have surprises ruined. Generally ROH results don't bother me because it's usually several months until I see the dvds and by then, I forget the results anyway. I just thought since the PPV is next month and nothing major happened, my viewing experience will be enhanced by not knowing the finishes.
  2. I'll believe Jericho when I see it. I don't see why he'd want to do it. Expect a Bobby Lashley/Vince McMahon ECW Title Match for the One Night Stand PPV. Boy, that will send buyrates skyrocketing. Vince is an idiot.
  3. Good. People need to learn that words matter, and can be very hurtful. Remember the phrase "That's mighty white of you."
  4. QUOTE(Purdue129 @ May 14, 2007 -> 06:54 PM) Dude, my post is in regards to Hartford on Friday and has nothing to do with the PPV. Re-read it - my apologies. I read it on Sunday, and you mentioned "last night" - I assumed it was Saturday night - as in the PPV taping. And Soxfest, yes, I do think I will be able to avoid spoilers. Nothing major happened on the ppv to warrant breaking news on any of the sites I read on, so avoiding spoilers should be realtively easy. Also, to the RAW discussion, it doesn't hurt Edge to lose to HBK. Edge is established - he has the belt. For chrissake, HBK beat Cena cleanly on Raw a couple weeks ago, so beating Edge doersn't hurt Edge. I'd rather Edge cheat to win or a non-ending, but whatever. At least it wasn't as bad as the TNA PPV ending. looking forward to Judgment Day, but for us in LA, we have PWG's Tag Team Tournament this weekend. Saturday's show features CIMA v Bryan Danielson - how awesome is that? Also in the tourny are Briscoes, Kings of Wrestling, Havana Pitbulls, Arrogance, Pac/Roderick Strong, Davey Richards/Super Dragon, Trailer Park Boyz, and Doi & Yoshino from Dragon Gate. Excited.
  5. Dog after my own heart. I love cheating.
  6. Hey, don't SPOIL the ROH Pay-Per-View!!! It doesn't air until July 1 and a lot of us are avoiding spoilers. I'm looking forward to it- should be a hell of a lot better htan last night's TNA Sacrifice PPV - which was better than average, and had a lot of good wrestling, but some stupid endings. The Texas Death Match was MOTN and both guys were bleeding buckets of blood at the end. Good stuff. Mods, can you delete the spoiler post above?
  7. Stupid. Shouldn't he OWN dei?
  8. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ May 9, 2007 -> 06:02 PM) Mr Kennedy to be back in 6 to 8 weeks: http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/kennedyupdate2 4 to 6 weeks. See below from PWInsider: The WWE's official website is reporting that the initial diagnosis of Ken Kennedy's triceps injury has turned out to be incorrect and the triceps was not torn off the bone as originally feared. Kennedy was examined today by Dr. James Andrews and will not need to undergo surgery. WWE's Dr. Ferdinand Rios was quoted by the WWE website as hoping Kennedy can return to the ring within 4-6 weeks, a far cry from the expected 5-7 months he would have been out of the ring. Kennedy suffered the injury at the Poughkeepsie, NY house show over the weekend. Kennedy already has a readymade feud waiting for him when he can return as Edge defeated him for the Money in the Bank title shot this past Monday on Raw, paving the way for a major angle that will air this Friday on Smackdown.
  9. OTOH, the Punk/CorVon match was good. Punk sold like crazy and it made CorVon look good. Elijah interferes and CorVon hits The Pounce. They announced Punk/Burke for Judgment Day.
  10. Well, so much for not spoiling SD before it airs - anyone who watched ECW saw them announce it live on air - nevermind the fact that Smackdown is presented as "live" to the audience on Fridays. I would've liked to be surprised by watching SD on Friday - now I'll watch it whenever. BTW, I love the new champ. Can't wait to see what happens - but the surprise is lessened by not only putting it on a taped show - but also spoiling it themselves on ECW and WWE.com as a way to beat the dirt sheets to it. WWE, sometimes you suck. Atleast the headline was great - "Pittsburgh Stealer." Also, whoever posted the rumor above before the taping, you suck too. What about spoiler tags at least?
  11. QUOTE(Y2HH @ May 8, 2007 -> 07:57 AM) Wow does the modern state of pro-wrestling absolutly SUCK. Why? Yes, the loss of Undertaker and Kennedy hurts the Smackdown brand a lot, but what WWE has done in the past (and it's easier now with the end of brand-exclusiveness) is move guys over to the brand that's hurting. Why not move Snitsky and maybe bring up The Ripper to SD, and add the returning Rey Mysterio & Mark Henry and there you go. You can also push the Cruisers and spread the Punk/Burke feud between the two brands. What I didnt like about last night (and I understand the need to move the briefcase in case he's not back) is the way Kennedy looked like a complete tool in accepting the match and then telling the ref to ring the bell once he was already f'ed up. Yes, some guys are more guts than brains, but Kennedy stood apart from this pack as a fairly smart guy. Most of this will be forgotten by the time he returns (unless they keep him on tv while he's healing) but still. Also, I LOVE Edge - definitely in my top 3 top guys right now, but does he need the briefcase? What I'd like is for him to put it up against another up and comer, say Punk after the Burke feud, or even Johnny Nitro, lose it and then have the two of them feud for a couple months over it some more, elevating them in the process. Edge should be the champ, but as this isn't going to happen anytime soon, this would be a good use for him. random things: Khali isn't going to beat Cena - how do they keep this feud going? Get Vince off my TV. I don't care. His storyline isn't going to make me order PPV. It might make me download it illegally however. Morella is a good gimmick, but what happens if he loses the title to a schlub like Masters? Sunday Night Heat, that's what. Keep the belt on him. Loved the Women's match last night too - hey, they're actually wrestling! Great stuff. Is Beth Phoenix ever coming back up?
  12. PWInsider.com: For those wondering why Ken Kennedy lost the Money in the Bank briefcase to Edge and was completely laid out tonight during Monday Night Raw, the reason is Kennedy suffered a horrible tricep tear over the weekend, tearing it right off the bone during a house show in Poughkeepsie, New York. Kennedy is scheduled to undergo surgery shortly and is expected to out of the ring for an estimated five to seven months. Given the way he was written out, one would think Kennedy will be returning as a babyface but given the way the company changes plans daily, I wouldn't consider that a given until it happens. note from me: Hey, can everyone on Soxtalk make a gentlemen's agreement not to spoil Smackdown (which tapes tomorrow) until it airs? Everyone knows there's going to be a title change - I'd like not to know what happens beforehand. OKAY?
  13. like there's anything wrong with being Satanic.......idiots.
  14. Boxing is f***ing boring. And it's more fixed than wrestling. How surprised am I than there's going to be a rematch? What's wrong with boxing? Lots, but how can a sport that features two guys hitting each other not end in a definitive way? Throw out all decisions, scoring, etc. It should end with one guy knocking the other guy the f*** out in a pool of his own blood. why do we have a sport where we COUNT how many times they hit each other? BOOORING. And get rid of the gloves - go back to bare knuckles. Boxing is dead until they realize that bloodthirsty fight fans are watching UFC & MMA because they can get their blood fix there better than in boxing where everything is rigged.
  15. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 5, 2007 -> 11:38 AM) NSFW. Funny as Hell. http://www.wrestlinggonewrong.com/video/fg...dragon_fan.html PWG show. Fan starts a Super Dragon chant. It pisses everybody off. Fans swear at him. Super Dragon stops the match and goes outside the ring and gets in the fan's face, threatening him with a chair. Love that clip. Super Dragon is f***ing crazy. He once dumped an entire McDonalds bag over a fan who was booing him. the fan was covered in barbecue sauce all over him. At the last PWG show I went to (the one with Joe/LowKi), Dragon came back from an injury and he was FATTTTTTT, so I yelled, "Hey Dragon, who knocked you up?" He came into the crowd looking for me, but everyone was standing so he couldn't find me (thankgod). QUOTE(Purdue129 @ May 6, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) Don't forget they both suck with the mic, that doesn't help their fear striking abilities. They don't. They need work, but they're no Matt Hardy. Also, if they suck, give them a manager. It makes a difference. See Jim Mitchell in TNA. Also, I just want to point out I scooped all y'all on that Orton story. A firend of a friend was THERE when Orton came to the catering spread completely incoherent. And that TNA stuff with Starr is bulls***. Let the guy have his birthday off!

    Films

Liked Spider-Man, but it was really silly. Peter Parker playing jazz piano? His dance numbers walking down the street? Is Raimi directing the Broadway music? Anyone notice how similiar it was to Superman 3?
  17. Great interview w/ Gabe Sapolsky, booker for ROH, up on the Elite section of PWInsider. You can add Jimmy Rave to the list of those signed, and there are others he declined to name. At this point, it's more than 10 names, which gives them a solid roster to tell stories around. Yes, the PPV will be taped, 2 hrs, and in the $10-15 price range. I assumed anyone who read the story would get that info. Being taped is fine, IMO - their DVD business is doing very well. The results for the shows are announced live, so sometimes there's no surprises who wins the matches, but the matches are so good, you want to find out how and why. As reported, dvds of the full shows (which run 3-4 hrs) will be available at the normal schedule. There's a rumor that the 6/23 show in Chicago Ridge might be the next taping, featuring the rematch of Dragon/KENTA. Yes, WWE should do a tourny at Judgment Day, but I assume they won't. Wonder who Batista will face.
  18. Addendum to the ROH story: In the Youtube video are Bryan Danielson, Roderick Strong, Jay & Mark Briscoe, Nigel McGuinness, Davey Richards, Delirious, Rocky Romero, BJ Whitmer, Claudio Castagnoli, Brent Albright, Erick Stevens. I assume they're the ones with the exclusive deals, but that hasn't been confirmed. ROH Champ Takeshi Morishima is already under a deal to NOAH in Japan, but one assumes there's a deal in place to make this work.
  19. I will respond to the ECW talk but this was just announced: RING OF HONOR TO PPV!!!!!!! http://pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=24212&p=1 Oh Thank God, yes. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ May 2, 2007 -> 01:45 PM) There's no point in having the New Breed without the Originals around. Once RVD is gone, the rest will be cut as well. I think that's why they're rushing the angle. Doesn't matter, the raitings we're in the mid two's now they're mid 1's every week. TV Networks don't want to deal with having it on their network because advertising rates are horrible for wrestling. Yes the raiting they do is tops most of the time on Sci-Fi, but they are quite happy airing their programming and would rather not have wrestling on. I think the ratings have been better since the whole McMahon/Lashley thing, and since the whole NBC/USA/WWE deal - they like the synergy. ECW is not going anywhere anytime soon. They have time to develop their storylines. There's no need to rush three weeks of storyline stuff in one hour. And RVD isn't leaving until July at the earliest - and why not have a heel faction even if they feud with someone else than the Originals? Thorn, CorVon & Striker need that group badly. Without it, I wouldnt be surprised to see them as individuals disappear quickly.
  20. ECW was good last night - but no CM Punk promo? What gives? The Main event was too short and started off badly. Does anyone really think RVD will beat McMahon next week? And why rush the breakup of the New Breed? You got time WWE, S_T_R_E_T_C_H it out. What are you, TNA?
  21. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 08:11 PM) They're too busy pitting CM Punk against the New Breed... anyway, to the ROH fanatics out there, i'm thinking about goin to the show on 6/23...i've seen the Dedicated and Battle of the Icons shows from the beginning of the year, so is there any show or matches that are a must see? Or anything else I should know ROH-wise? CM Punk vs Samoa Joe II - also from Chicago. Possibly the best match ROH has ever had. random thoughts: Morella is a good idea, but bring down the accent a bit. I miss Johnny Nitro. Khali as main eventer? Yikes. The worst part about this is how bad it will make Cena look. He's not good enough yet to carry The Big Stiff. Cena/Khali only until Triple H comes back? Undertaker is injured - a torn biceps muscle. Will he drop the title by being pinned or just give it up? Lashley is banged up - is he healthy enough to take the title back or will someone else take it off the Chairman? Although I question the result, I loved the build up to last night's revelation. But how does a 7-foot, 400 pounder walk around backstage UNNOTICED? Love Kennedy is calling his shot - but he's a heel. What if he's LYING? Edge/Orton last night was terrific. Edge rules. Lots of near falls. Haven't watched Backlash yet - I will by tomorrow. Angle v Christian v Sting for the TNA Title at Sacrifice. Does anyone care?
  22. Who gets the flashbacks next week?
  23. QUOTE(Damen @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 01:02 PM) LOVE IT.
  24. I do hate those Truth commercials even tho I'm anti-smoking. They just seem so preachy and self-righteous.
