QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) "Pan's Labryinth" should have been edited to PG-13. I saw the review said "R", and thought to myself that basically it will be the film's kiss of death in the box office. I mean, why have a "fairy tale" rated R? It's not rare or weird in Europe. That's the film's primary audience, not here. and any top 10 list without Borat lacks credibility.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 12:47 PM) Pat Boone - "Enter Sandman" That whole album is hilarious. I love his take on Dio's Holy Diver.
  5. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 12:45 PM) I refere you to the above, it's good. Did you know that her Dad, Keith Allen used to be part of the Comic Strip, is now a mainstream actor over here, appeared on Park Life video, wrote and performed with New Order on World In Motion and as Fat Les released Vindaloo, he even had a part in Trainspotting. I did not know that. Her album isn't even available here on iTunes - have to DL it elsewhere. I have to admit I have a soft spot in my heart for British pop music. There was a McFly song on the last Now comp that I got that is quite good. How is their album?
  6. has anyone picked up the Lily Allen album I keep hearing about?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 10:56 PM) Whitney Houston I Will Always Love You is waaay better than the original. Of course both suck . . . Not even close. Dolly's version is pure emotion while Whitney's is all schmaltz. GREAT COVERS Gin N Juice - by obscure cuddle-core band Sissy Bar Purple Haze - The Cure Diamonds and Rust - a Joan Baez song turned into a classic by Judas Priest Number of the Beast - Zwan acoustically interpreting Iron Maiden Under My Thumb - Social Distortion Cathy's Clown - Black Crowes (live show) Under Pressure - Flaming Lips (live show) Suspicious Minds - REM (live) I Feel Free - Foo Fighters doing Cream 18 & Life - Nina Gordon (Skid Row) Panic - Anthrax (The Smiths) Romeo & Juliet - Indigo Girls (Dire Straits) better than the original All Apologies - Sinead O'Connor (Nirvana) Sweet Child O Mine - Aluminum Group Goodbye Earl - Me First (Dixie Chicks) The Pirates That Don't Do Anything - RockPaperScissors (my band doing Veggie Tales)
  8. agree about Impact. Looking forward to Final Resolution. And for my own sanity, I think I'm going to stop watching WWE unless I hear something amazing happens. With Rosie v Donald and CM Punk's loss to Holly in the same week, I think I'm done with them.
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 17, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Dersh is terrible, too, but Carter is a serious case to be made for "Worst President Ever." Meet Herbert Hoover, Andrew Johnson, Calvin Coolidge, John Quincy Adams, Franklin Pierce, & James Buchanan. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 17, 2006 -> 10:30 PM) Warren G. Harding was a total douchebag and you all know it, yet no one ever says anything. No he wasn't.
  10. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 10:28 AM) The Bulls somewhat remind me of the Heat before the Shaq trade. A bunch of good players, but not enough to win it all, then traded away a lot of good players for a dominant one. But it worked out for the Heat, no?
  11. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) The best part of that Donald and Rosie segment was seeing Ace Steel in a E ring. So glad I turned off Raw and watched ROH's Glory By Honor V Night 2 -- a must see for any wrestling fan. The KoW vs Aries and Strong was amazing as was Marufuji vs McGuinness and AmDrag vs KENTA. I can't wait to get some more cash so I can pick up some more ROH DVD's. For the ROHbots, what are some high quality shows I should pick up? I'm looking at Death Before Dishonor 4, Glory by Honor 5 Night 2, Final Battle 2005, Final Battle 2006 (when it comes out) and Joe vs Kobashi. Any duds there or shows I'm missing? Not to mention the multiple skits they ran backstage including Rosie eating a cake, the Donald getting his hair sprayed, Rosie checking out Maria's ass amongst other things. Almost all of the Milestone Series is terrific - both Chicago shows were stellar. The best ROH match I've seen has to be Samoa Joe/CM Punk II, incidentally also in Chicago. I hear United is awesome, although I don't have it yet.
  12. Living in LA, I think I'll actually go to some Galaxy games this year, so yes, I guess there's an impact.
  13. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) Just curious, why? Should Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry get in the Hall of Fame because of cocaine use too? If their numbers warrant enshrinement, they should be in. Who cares what they had in their bodies at the time? I call them hypocrites because to criticize someone about cheating when no one is perfect or cheated in their life is ludicrous.
  14. Sportswriters (and basically anyone else who thinks McGwire doesn't deserve enshrinement) are f***ing hypocrites.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 09:06 PM) OK this I totally don't understand. Have you ever heard someone argue that in a crime infested neighborhood, that we should pull out all of the cops and it would make it better? Seriously, in a situation that is dangerous and volitile, why would you pull out the authority figures, or try to argue that more of them would only make the situation worse. When Nancy Pelosi wants to argue that we should withdraw all of the police officers out of LA, I might listen. Until then, this makes no sense to me. Who cares if Iraq falls into worse Civil War and they all kill each other? Not me. America First.
  16. we missed the injury watching it at the bar last night. interesting to see the replays of it. others didn't, but I liked the Cena/Umaga match, surprisingly.
  17. I loved the 05 Sox, but let's not get carried away - they weren't the best team of all time. In the last 25 years, I'd put them behind the 98 Yankees, and maybe tied with the 99 Yankees and 89 A's. Of all-time, I'd probably put the 27 Yankees first and one of the those classic Big Red Machine clubs up there too before the 05 Sox.
  18. QUOTE(MinnesotaSoxFan @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) i have the best animated gif. (eye roll)
  19. QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 08:17 AM) Like I said, I think we had this thread before and I "won." I got you beat. Not only do I have everything ever released by the Spice Girls, I have all of their solo album and singles. (that's my dirty lil secret.) I also love S Club 7 and have all their albums, but not all the singles. Good fun disposable pop music.
  20. QUOTE(Purdue129 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) I'm also looking forward to seeing what Hero's 'send off' is for Claudio. Hopefully it's the two of them tearing the house down. They had a one-on-one match out here in PWG (Pro Wrestling Guerrilla) a few weeks back.
  21. It wouldn't surprise me to see Homicide lose his Final Battle match as it's become totally predictable (a la the Royal Rumble winner at Wrestlemania) just to see Danielson lose his next match or shortly thereafter - reminiscent of Austin Aries after the epic CM Punk/Samoa Joe feud. Who to? Roderick Strong.
  22. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) "AJ & David basically pushing each other around" what, they werent just playing around/acting ? duh.
  23. QUOTE(Pods20 @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) I love AJ... But who still watches wrestling? Me too, obviously. It's changed a lot in recent years, at least in the indies it has. and Sportscenter would be stupid not to cover this. It IS a story after all.
  24. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) Say, isnt that what one of the networks is doing now? with that show about highschool football? It's similar. Friday Night Lights is fictional television, and what I'm proposing is nonfiction, with real games, but pretaped to allow for editing and off-the-field storylines.
  25. At TNA Wrestling's Dec PPV, Turning Point, our own AJ Pierzynski and Dale Torborg were present when World Series MVP David Eckstein came out with his mvp trophy, accompanied by his brother. The TNA Announcer interviewed Eckstein who talked about a book he'd written for kids and when the conversation turned to his thoughts on TNA's wrestlers, AJ and Torborg started ripping pages out of Eckstein's book, and then AJ started telling Eckstein what a loser he thought he was, and how the Cards were lucky to even make the playoffs. That led to a brawl, including Torborg throwing punches at Eckstein's brother, and AJ & David basically pushing each other around. Interesting to see how much mainstream exposure this gets over the next few days, on Sportscenter and in the press. It will probably result in a match involving AJ and Eckstein, which although it probably won't be a good match wrestling-wise, will get the Sox a lot of press.
