  1. Yeah, my Dems are running some real bad candidates out here this year, so I voted Libertarian for Gov, and for several Repubs as well. I think generally I don't trust people who vote straight ticket, or don't disagree with at least one position that their national party holds.
  2. QUOTE(juddling @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 09:16 AM) Yes...but i think THAT guy will tie in heavily to the stories. Remember when the police had their guns pointed at him?? He said..."You don't want to shoot me...i could go off like a bomb!" like The Human Bomb, for all you DC fans out there.....
  3. The great thing about Matthews is that each side believes he's for the other. That's a good commentator. Oh, and nice apostrophe.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) Thank Jesus. This is exactly what we needed. In another 10 years, we'll have abstinence-only education expanded to 65 year olds, and everyone everywhere will eschew sex in service of the lord. talk about head in the sand.
  5. I'm not a fan of Tom Waits' stuff, but I respect the hell out of him. That said, let me shill my band's myspace page. We're LA-based and called ROCKPAPERSCISSORS. myspace.com/rpsmusic
  6. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 06:52 AM) More than a few things, number one, I believe we need someone who could unite the country, not further divide them. We need someone with Reagan's or (early version) Bill Clinton pr abilities. The biggest magic that happened with Reagan was making us feel better about our future and our ability to overcome adversity. We had the embarrassment of Nixon, the clumsiness of Ford in W.I.N., and the paralysis of Carter. Then Reagan comes riding in, literally, bigger than life and gives us back our swagger. With the terrorism threat, we need someone who can give us back our swagger. Hillary aint it. I tend to agree. I don't think she can win.
  7. "He said women were "weapons" used by "Satan" to control men. " Boy, someone needs to meet that Mistress Andrea down on Alvarado that I know.....
  8. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) so back from the threadjack.... I think Texsox makes the point clearer than i have. It should either be A) everyone is an individual in the eyes of the government. B ) any two people can "unionize" to take on benefits currently held by a heterosexual couple. that is the only fair thing to do. If it's truly about "human rights" then make it about EVERY human and not just your group. That is the hypcrosie that I'm annoyed about. And to expand from that - even more than two people should be able to declare themselves "family" - regardless of whether it's several gay people or lifelong platonic hetero friends. There are two types of families - the one you're born into, and the one you choose. And the ones you choose should be able to decide what legal rights and priviledges will exist between the legal adults involved. Yes, this opens the door for polygamy. But really, if all involved are legal adults, then what's the problem?
  9. The problem with the playoffs isn't how it's structured - it's who gets in. Eliminate the divisions, because they're completely arbitrary anyway, go back to a balanced schedule, and let the top 4 teams in the league into the playoffs, seeding them 1-4 and having them play each other. That way you don't have this joke where an 83-win team gets in like this year, or an 82-win team like last year.
  10. Stick your tongue in her ear. If she runs, it's not meant to be. If she stays, she's yours.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) I am going to intrude into here to reiterate that he has been looking "Presidential" for quite a while now... Barack has been leaving way too many open doors for a guy with no interest in running this during this cycle. I even heard speculation that it could simply be trying to pump up his book sales ala Powell, but I don't think that is it. I love Obama, but I think running in '8 is a mistake. Establish a senate record and run at the next open opportunity.
  12. not me. The Hawks are still dead as far as I care.
  13. Enough WWE talk.....anyone on here an ROH fan?
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 07:22 AM) That was probably one of the most exicting games I have ever seen. Talk about sour grapes. Also, once again the Bears weakness is exposed. Short quick passes and bubble screens will continue to hurt this defense. We wont give up the big play, but we will give up many small plays. Also Nathan Vasher is too small to cover a large receiver like Boldin, we need to keep Tillman on those types of guys. Tillman is one of the worst CBs I have ever seen. He is HORRIBLE. Vasher at least can get INTs. Tillman belongs on the practice squad.
  15. QUOTE(MinnesotaSoxFan @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) Just finished. LAME finisher. A Samoan Drop Swinging Neckbreaker? These guys have to get better cuz they cant get any worse.
  16. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) Freedom of Speech doesn't extend to threatening the President of the United States, I dont give a damn who you are. Yes it does.
  17. Has anyone watched that show Dexter on Showtime yet? My girlfrend recommended it but I don't have Showtime.
  18. I don't see Big Show losing his title anytime soon - they are making him look his best in YEARS on ECW. Probably will keep it til at least December to Dismember if not Mania.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) That's two teams from the NL Central(not including the two Cubs series) and 2 from the NL East, so there actually is some variety this year. And to be honest, the schedule isn't something I concern myself with that much. If the Sox are good enough to get in, then they'll get in no matter what the schedule looks like. I know that sounds cliche, but it's the truth. Yes, Philly & Florida are in the NL East, aren't they? Oops, my bad. That's weird - the inter-division stuff. I'm not worried about how tough/easy the schedule is, but I'd like to see more varieties of teams, as I don't see the NL that much. We went to Pittsburgh last year. Those planning road trips might want to see another NL city.
  20. Took a look at next year's schedule - and there's some interesting stuff in there. 1) There's a lot of four-game series - much more than the past couple of years. 2) We play the Yankees an awful lot. 10 times. 3) We play the Tigers only 5 times in the 1st half. 13 after. 4) Both series against the Twins in May are in Minnesota. 5) We play the NL Central again. Hosting Houston & Florida and going to Philly & Pittsburgh. (so much for variety every year.) thoughts?
  21. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) My view on this has changed about 10 times, but I think, getting Furcal from the Dodgers would be a better fit for this team. We need a leadoff hitter, and a upgrade at SS, along with pitching. That is going to be hard to get all in one offseason. Getting Furcal would solve 2 of the needs. He would leadoff, and if i am not mistaking he is a really good defensive SS. Then we could turn our focus on the most importaint thing in winning baseball and that is pitching. I would love to sign Walker to be the lefty out of the pen, and SPier to be the 7th/8th inning guy to go along with Thorton and MacDougal. Heager could be the last man in the pen, unless KW trys to package a couple starters for a better starter and bullpen arm. Is that even possable? I would love a lineup of Furcal--SS Iguchi--2B Dye--RF Thome--DH Konerko--1B Crede--3B AJ--C Anderson--CF Pierre--LF Make a move or two with the pitching and were all set. Just my 2 cents. Dodgers are not moving Furcal a couple years into his free-agent deal, and with them making the playoffs. Try again....
  22. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) http://www.latimes.com/business/nationworl...-wires-business ^^ My new siggy. This slam dunks anyone who says Bush's tax cuts have caused our deficit problem. This needs to be put in a bright red flashing neon sign for anyone who still thinks that way. If Pelosi wants to be a true defecit hawk and rein in spending then Im all for it but the reality is she probably will look to raise taxes instead. Nuke, did you link to the article "Cigar Industry Heating Up Again"? Because that's the article that comes up when you click that link. You're not trying to pull a fast one on us libs, are you?
  23. I am definitely NOT a fan of Rush, but it seems to me a no-brainer that they belong in the HOF. For some reason, the selection committee has an enormous bias against hard rock and heavy metal. Why else did it take Black Sabbath this long to get in? The only other heavy bands that are in there are Aerosmith, AC/DC, and Zep. That's missing Van Halen, Kiss, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Rush, and Deep Purple -- when "acceptable" punkish bands from the same time period like Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, The Police, Blondie, The Pretenders, and U2 are in. Just ridiculous. What makes punk okay and metal not? Did hair-metal ruin the committee's impressions of the genre - if so, then what about the current deluge of pop-punk we've suffered lately? And anyone making the argument against Dylan being in the HOF needs to be ignored forever and ever.
  24. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) I heard it was awesome. I saw it. It was good, solid - not spectacular, but these days what single brand PPV is? Benoit/Regal was the best match - a technical, bloody awesome match (and it wasn't even advertised). The tag match was also terrific - London & Kendrick put on a clinic. I can easily see them moving to RAW to become stars. The only downside is with only two tag teams on the brand, where does this feud go? Undertaker/Kennedy was very slow at the beginning, gained some momentum later on, and then inexplicably Taker DQ's himself by hitting Kennedy with the US belt in full view of the ref. Chavo/Rey was horrible - brawling in the crowd, very few wrestling moves, horrible ending. Booker's court breaks up during a backstage vignette, where Finlay tells Booker he wants his title and Booker, having given Regal the job to convince Finlay to lay down for him, berates Regal, who punches Booker in the face before leaving. The four-way was done well. Batista hits the Batista Bomb on Finlay, Lashley spears him, and Booker pins Finlay. Oh, and MVP's match was BRUTAL. 1) He had the worst in-ring singlet I have ever seen. Way to not make the guy look like a star. 2) His offense did not look good, or stand-out in any way. Even the jobber he faced (no Funaki or Scotty for this one) got offense on him. Just awful.
  25. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 07:48 AM) I saw a couple old OVW promos for Shad Gaspard -- the HNIC. (Head N***** In Charge) that were pretty badass and pre-Cryme Tyme. From what I've seen, he's no Benoit/Hennig technician in the ring but with this kind of gimmick, he doesn't need to be. I can't wait to see them wrestle finally. The E may actually be serious about tag team wrestling again -- except I am concerned that the Highlanders, Cryme Tyme, Spirit Squad and almost all the Raw tag teams except for Cade and Murdoch are running comedy gimmicks. Don't get your hopes up. London & Kendrick are the best tag team they have right now and they're a complete afterthought.
